It makes it better them being crap. It means we get to laugh at their stupid rambles of how "they play the most attractive football". Shame they just lost their 3rd league game in a row, was it? West Ham, Bolton and now Fulham?

What does everyone think of Evra? Last season I thought he was pretty poor but this season he has come on leaps and bounds, he is playing so well I think Fergie will have problems dropping to fit Heinze in.

Evra has shown an absoloutley phenomenal improvement. It was only kast season when some reds were labelling him as the worst ever United player, this season he's been very consistant. As for Vidic, he's the type of player it's very easy to like. He's strong, a tough tackler and his performance against Bolton was one of the reasons we made a difficult away look like a walk in the park.

Still haven't had a chance to discuss the Chewsee match, but I'm fairly pleased with the result. I went into the game with the mindset that if we avoided defeat then we would still be in the running for the championship, and we did that very well.

Chelsea came to OT with a gamplan which was to defend and frustrate United and leave with a point. The difference was that when they went a goal down they changed their system and their formation, and in the end they got the point they deserved. Had they come here to win, it may have been a different story. It was a poor game, and after Chelsea went ahead they shut up shop again. It was also frustrating to see United change our game plan to basically play into the hands of Chelsea. When they levelled the score, we brought on O'Shea and Fletcher, neither of whom are good enough to play for United, and both teams were playing for a point. I'm not sure if that shows fear of Chelsea, from SAF, either way United should not be bringing on O'Shea and Fletcher at home against title contenders. End of.

Just hope for some serious spending in the January window.

3 good goals last night, clever of Ronaldo to just hit it away from the keeper first time, Evra really surprised that was an excellentfinish through the keepers legs, and O' Shea does not score shit goals, both Evra and Vidic have been really good this season, Vidic has made the Cb role his won and Heinze cant get a look in at the moment, anybody see Citys last goal yesterday, that was excellent play by Distin

Starting line up to face Boro:

van Der Sar
Neville

Vidic

Ronaldo
Scholes
Fletcher
Giggs
Saha
Rooney

I think Boro are gonna go 5-3-2 again, like they did when they hammered us 4-1 last season.

What I loved about the Fletcher goal was the tannoy system announcing the Boro goalscorer

Scholes was awesome. Sky Sports giving Rooney MoTM shows how little they know about football. Or they said "Well man of the match was clearly Paul Scholes, but as he doesn't really do interviews, fuck it, we'll give it to Wayne again!"

I don't even know why Ronaldo dived for the penalty. He would have scored if he hadn't have gone down.

Why would he sacrifice his own chance to score, to take a chance on Saha scoring from the spot? Doesn't make any sense.

Exactly my thoughts on him. His pace alone can tear players apart. He did very well for our second goal yesterday. Busted a gut to get in the area when no one else would and showed great composure to lay it back to Giggs. I thought he would have done his usual and shoot from a silly angle.

Saha's doing like @#$*@@#**^%%!#(won/t swear gonna get sent off i think never read the rules lol)[If there r any rules] missing lots of chances Cristiano struggled to give him a ball he just ran past it n a scummy blue just kikced it forward.
Even though, Saha has made a DOUBLE scoring a goal against Chelsea and one FOR Chelsea. Carvalho headed the ball then it touched Saha n went in. If he hadn't been there VDS could have easily saved it!!!! Saha's been bad these days missing a penalty against Celtic.I didn't watch the game wasnt shown on TV n i don't have Satelite TV.So i get only maximum of two Man Utd premiership games per month. There is only 1 premiership match per week

i AGREE my comment on Saha was really pathetic sorry guys.Sorry, i'll do my best to be better and act more maturely in the future !!!!

Akineye

Ronaldo didn't dive.

There doesn't have to be contact in order for a penalty to be given. In other words, Ronaldo didn't have to stay on his feet (like he has done all season, it has to be said) and wait for Schwarzer to potentially break his legs for it to be a foul. Just like Gerrard's penatly against Sheffield United on the opening day on the season, this was a penalty too. No contact, but denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Ronaldo and Rooney were very good, and Paul Scholes was magnificent. Even playing alongside Fletcher against a 5 man midfield he still ran the game for United.

If we win our next game we'll be nine points ahead of Chelsea, who play Arsenal next. Given that this time last season, I believe we were thirteen point behind Chelsea, it's a welcome boost especially considering the (lack of) optimism at the start of the season. We've spent the least out of any Premiership team in the summer, and we're playing magnificently. It's clear that we still need a stronger squad, but if Ronaldo and Rooney stay fit until January then we've always got the unlikely hope that Fergie will be given money to spend. And even if he doesn't we can't really complain. The Boro game summed up the fact that United have been great to watch this season, and the attitude of the players and their determination to win has been refreshing. Especially compared to last season's performance there.

Whether or not they're penalties are another argument.

The fact is that the rules state that 'intent' is suitable ground for a foul. That's what Gerrard got a penalty on the first day of the season, that's what Ronaldo got sent off for against City last season, and that's what he got a penalty for last week.

I think almost any red would agree that Ronaldo lost his footing, after rounding the goalkeeper. The ref gave a penalty. Ronaldo didn't appeal for it, didn't brandish an imaginary card or anything else.

It's just funny that so much fuss has been made over Ronaldo 'diving' and not over Corradi or Rosicky.

TAKING AIM AT THEIR RIVALS
Manchester United may be top of the Barclays Premiership by six points going into this weekend's fixtures, but they are not above using extra help to try and snatch the title from the clutches of Chelsea. Even rocket launchers. Having scored 35 goals in 16 league games, they aren't exactly short of firepower, but Rio Ferdinand has been behind a scheme to really blow the Blues away.

Clues as to United's new tactics were seen when John O'Shea scored against Everton last week at Old Trafford, and Ferdinand led the way in the celebrations, kneeling on the pitch and waving around an imaginary rocket launcher. He did the same thing with Darren Fletcher when the mulleted Scotchman scored United's winner at Middlesbrough on Saturday, but what is it all about?

Unsurprisingly, given that professional footballers are involved, it's all about a video game. SOCOM 3: US Navy Seals, is the game in question, and it is apparently very popular with young men who have issues with violence, testosterone and machismo. This is where players from Man United and Chelsea come in, because they have been playing against each other on the game online.

A Man United source told The Sun: "They are deadly rivals at everything and computer games are no different. It's combat on and off the pitch." John Terry and Frank Lampard first introduced Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney to the game whilst on England duty, and since then players from both squads have been squaring off, so much so that United have incorporated it into their goal celebrations. Well, rather that than the 'rocking the baby' one...

I'd have thought the post above yours explains it quite well...

I find it ironic how Rio can joke about rocket launchers whilst trying to rid the streets of Britain of knives.

You're being a bit silly here mate.

Can't wait till the Citeh game, shall be a belter. I can see us coming out on top though, especially with it being at Old Trafford. As long as we keep the likes of O'Shea, Fletcher (who has done mildly better) and Richardson away from the pitch we'll be fine.

For all we know he could just be imitating someone carrying a block of wood on his shoulder. I can't imagine anyone wanting to blow up someone else with a rocket launcher purely because Ferdinand and the United team use it as a celebration when they score. Whatever happened to banter eh ?

Thick twat ? Probably, yes.

I really do feel confident about the Citeh game, our defence is very strong and Neville is having a great season. I just hope Heinze can find his form as he hasn't really been impressive when he has played this season.

From www.goal.com:
Ronaldo Gets Player Of Month Award
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Barclays Premiership player of the month for November after helping his side to keep hold of their place at the top of the Premiership.

Manchester United have moved six points clear of Chelsea and they were helped largely by Ronaldo's peformances.

The Portuguese winger scored against Portsmouth and Everton with superb goals and also created three goals for his team-mates.

Jim Hytner, from the Barclays Premiership awards panel, said: "Ronaldo has been in excellent form, putting in a string of outstanding performances on the wing.

"His strike against Portsmouth has got to be a contender for goal of the month."

Only yesterday, Wayne Rooney claimed that Ronaldo has taken a step forward as a player and a person since the controversy following the World Cup, and the award should pave the way for him to take another, though debate continues on the alleged diving incidents involving him.

Despite the scoreline, it was a very edgy game on occasions. We shown glimpses of "liquid football" and strung a good succession of passes together but the finishing needed to be better. Saha as we all know will never be clinical in one-on-one's and we just seemed a bit frustrated with shot attempts. Citeh done excellently closing Scholesy down, they recognised they need to prevent him shooting on the edge of the area and they did just that, it was annoying.

Ben Foster and Tim Howard have both been impressive at their respective clubs so far this season, and their loans will end at the end of this season I imagine, so either may return to us (although I can see Howard signing permanently for Everton). Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed to become the best player in the world after claiming he has already surpassed Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

Ronaldo is the latest in a long line of talented No 7s at Old Trafford.

George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham have all worn the shirt with distinction down the years.

Ronaldo is in no doubt he belongs in such illustrious company, and believes he can even top the list.

"My dream is to win the Ballon d'Or and I am working to be the best player in the world," Ronaldo told the News of the World.

"Since I was a kid I have been trying to become the best winger in the world and now I want to go a step farther.

"There is still some way to go but the challenge is there and I am trying. I hope the moment arrives soon.

"After me the best No 7 that I have seen was Eric Cantona. But I am still only 21 and I want to surpass everything I have achieved so far."

Ronaldo also rounded on his critics, branding them jealous after they sharpened their knives following the controversial penalty incident at Middlesbrough.

"The incident against Boro has caused many comments, but it was a valid penalty. I do not dive," added Ronaldo.

"Nor do I search for controversy. But I am a person accustomed to the critics and they are not a problem for me.

"Perhaps the critics are jealous. I do not think I have to change. I am the same person that arrived in England hungry for success."

Meanwhile, United target Klaas Jan Huntelaar has revealed he dreams of becoming the next Ruud van Nistelrooy.

"I know certain English clubs are following me like Manchester United and Newcastle. They are both very interested in me," said Huntelaar.

"I love clubs with great history like Ajax. I also love United. It's a club that makes me dream, especially since Ruud van Nistelrooy has played there and did great things for them.

"It could be a source of inspiration as to how I continue my career. I follow the careers of van Nistelrooy and Dirk Kuyt, who play for massive foreign clubs, and they're role models for a young player like me."
Better than Eric? Behave!

Good news about Huntelaar though!

Sir Alex Ferguson feels Edwin van der Sar can play for at least another two years after admitting the keeper has enjoyed a new lease of life since joining Manchester United.

Van der Sar is in his second season at Old Trafford, having joined the club from Fulham back in 2005.

His reliability between the posts ended a difficult period for United in trying to find a replacement for Peter Schmeichel.

Ferguson is full of praise for Van der Sar's impact at United and believes the 36-year-old has more seasons left in him.

"He's probably got a new lease of life, coming to United," Ferguson told Inside United.

"He did well at Fulham having been at Juventus previously, but coming to us has given him an extra spur that a lot of goalkeepers get at that age.

"He's fit, he's lean, he's hungry and he can play for another two years, easy. It all depends on what he wants.

"He's good in the dressing room, too.

"He's not a terribly demonstrative person - he's not like Schmeichel, for instance - but what he says has got an authority about it because he's been there and that experience and personality is helping."

Seems SAF agrees with most of us

Exactly. And I'm not confident on a future central midfield of Reo-Coker and Carrick. :shocking:

Carrick > Reo-Coker but I see what you mean, Carrick is nowhere near worth £18m, but to be honest I actually rated Carrick before we got him, whereas Reo-Coker I don't rate at all.

I heard today that Roy Keane is interested in taking Solksjaer on loan in the January transfer window. It seems a bit pointless to me, he might aswell leave instead of going on loan.

Meh.

I kinda liked the look of Reo-Coker last season and has caught my eye a couple of times with his performances. Though I admit he has been pretty much awful this season.

That's why we only paid around £13-14m for Carrick. £18m is the sum it 'could' rise to, very much like the £30m price tag slapped on Rooney when in fact we didn't pay that for him.

Even £13 or £14m is two times as much as he is worth.

Would you rather Rosicky for £6.8 or Carrick for a potential £18m? I think we all know that answer...

As LosGalacticos said, Carrick is good, not showing us his 18 million worth as of yet. Also agree with Phat, why are we after Hargreaves already ? Stupid if you ask me. I still think that if we were to buy an midfielder, it should be Estaban Cambiasso. The guys great. Got great passing, a decent shot, and great stamina. Although, I don' t know his price.... but im sure it would be nothing short of £20mill ( And there' s no signs of him even looking for a move... ). So, maybe that' s not a good idea after all. I think we should just pass, and keep with the midfield we' ve got atleast until the end of the season.

The fact that Dong has his work permit and has been scoring freely at Antwerp may suggest we won't get another long term striker this january window

look at the striking options we have:
Rooney
Saha
Alan Smith
Dong
Solskjaer
Rossi
Larrson

now thats a pretty good selection of strikers who all give us something different

FERGIE HINTS AT MORE SURPRISES

Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted he could be ready to make another surprise addition to his squad to follow the capture of Henrik Larsson.

The Manchester United manager worked his magic in the transfer market to bring the Swedish striker to Old Trafford on a loan deal that begins in January, and it has been suggested that Larsson represents the limit of his New Year acquisitions.

However Ferguson has now suggested he may yet have another ace up his sleeve as The Red Devils look to consolidate their place at the top of the Premiership.

"You never know, I may sign someone else," said Ferguson.

"No-one expected Henrik Larsson and I might surprise everyone again."

United's usurpation of rivals Chelsea has seen Ferguson in his element, with the mind games coming thick and fast from both Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

Now the master of managerial psychology has gone on the offensive again after Jose Mourinho suggested United's five-point lead is, in reality, just two as The Red Devils have to visit Stamford Bridge on 14th April.

"Apparently we have already lost a game which was due to be played in April," laughed Ferguson

"It's quite good really because we can have a rest on that weekend now. I can put my reserve team out, so we can save our energies for the next game.

"You never know. We could actually win, or we might be 20 points clear. I think the best thing for us to do is concentrate on ourselves because we are doing the right things".

Rosicky plays in central midfield for Czech Republic, and has played in the centre alongside Gilberto and Fabregas for Arsenal.

Dunno what to say really

Chelsea showed the reason they're champions coming back from a goal behind late in the game. Man Utd perhaps showed why, despite our great season, we might not be there quite yet. I'm gutted at the result. More because we've done everything to try and stop Chelsea and yet they still somehow pull results out of nowhere and Man U just fustratingly slip up occasionally. I'm not blaming us, we've been been amazing... and it's only natural to slip up. Not for Chelsea though.

True we're still 2 points ahead, but I'm wondering if it's actually possible to win the league anymore.
