ease up on kieran..i think hed be a good left back inthe future..he needs to go on loan again and see if he can cut the mustard.
I hope we make two more class purchases in this window liek we did with Nemanja and Patrice...Bentley is a fair shotu seeing as we only have 2 naturalised winger (bar Kieran) Hargreaves for a summer switch and hopefully one more striker...I think we should let smudger go..hes not progressing with Ferguson like he was touted to.
EDIT: we're also linked with Nani, both Rio and Gabby are being trailed by Juve. Gabby -> Trez..i dont mind that

Stuff Bentley and Hargreaves. We need Mavuba, Nani, Bale and Huntelaar.
Agree with u and that Bale guy looks good maybe he'll be as backup for Patrice.
EDIT:Manchester United are preparing to test Bayern Munich's resolve with a first official bid for Owen Hargreaves, thought to be in the region of £17m, but the Premiership leaders will not be getting involved in any other transfers until the summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson has already stated he is only "looking at one thing" and yesterday it was the chief executive David Gill's turn to play down suggestions that the club may seek to strengthen other areas. United have already added Henrik Larsson to their playing staff, albeit on a seven-week loan arrangement with Helsingborgs, and Gill said that it is unlikely they would bring in anyone else.
Article continues
"The money is there but traditionally we do most of our big spending in the summer and I think that will continue," he said. "Things may change. If there's an area in which we want to do something then we'll do it. But we don't plan to do a great deal. We've brought in Larsson, while a number of the players who have been out on loan are back."
United's priority is Hargreaves and they have been increasingly encouraged by some of the noises coming out of Munich. The Bundesliga champions do not want to lose one of their key players but they are aware that there are pitfalls in keeping a player who is keen to leave. Hargreaves, close to fitness after recovering from a broken leg, has made that clear he wants to leave, even being fined on one occasion, and United believe they have a 50-50 chance. "I think we all know the area in which we want to strengthen," Gill said. "But I'm not going to comment on that."
Looking further ahead, United have been alerted to the news that Marseille are willing to sell the France international Franck Ribery for around £17m.

Yeah, Ronnie :)
Rooney needs a rest. Still trying too hard and wasting easy chances.
Rooney played relatively well today, his movement was good and definetely doesn't merit critics for todays performance. I'd probably say Evra and Ronaldo were our better players of the match but there were actually quite a few players who performed excellently. Scholes and Carrick worked well in the centre for the most part. Overall a good game, we could have easily stuffed a few more in but we just took our foot off the pedal unfortunately.
I've noticed that recently you haven't been keeping clean sheets, is that your weakness?

We're scoring goals for fun and creating plenty of chances, so I've got no worries. You playing at home to Chelski the same weekend we play Arsenal does put my mind at rest. Then again you don't always do well against the big boys.

Well we don't need clean sheets if we can keep on scoring 3 goals a game. 52 goals in the Premiership so far this season.
We'll need clean sheets in the tougher european matches as the pace often slower and may have an affect on our own attack. No matter how many we score, we should be keeping clean sheets, we need them. This season is going to be extremely close it seems and who knows, goal difference may actually make a difference.
I think that if we can keep Ferdinand and Vidic fit and both playing together we have good chance of a clean sheet against most teams we have to play.

He was class the first season he joined, probably the best left back in the league but since the injury he has been nowhere near his high standard and he will probably leave during January. Patrice Evra has been very good so it hasn't been a great loss, hopefully Silvestre will go soon and then maybe get Gareth Bale for a replacement.

Bid to snatch rivals' target
20070115 09:27
Arsenal are set to make a last ditch attempt to stop Welsh international left back Gareth Bale from joining rivals Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson is now the favourite to land Bale in a £8 million tug of war with his bitter rival Arsene Wenger.
Wenger has only made a bid of around £4million for Bale who is rated as highly by Saints as Theo Walcott, who moved to Arsenal this time last year.
United are also prepared to allow Bale to stay at Southampton until the end of the season before moving to Old Trafford in the summer.
Wenger will have to match United's bid as well as let Bale stay at St Mary's until the end of the season to stand a chance of getting their man.

Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has joined former team Parma on loan until the end of the season, the Italian club website has reported.
The American-born striker, 19, scored four goals in 12 games for United last term and spent the first half of this season on loan at Newcastle.
He moved from Parma to United in 2004 and scored nine minutes into his Premiership debut in August 2005.
Parma are struggling in 19th place in Italy's Serie A.

I reckon Liverpool will crumble at the hands of Chelsea, and Arsenal will beat United. The most we can hope for is a draw really, the game will very much be about who has the best counter attacks as both teams have similar styles of play at the moment, so the finishing will matter most. As for the Anfield game, even though Liverpool are used to doing well against Chelsea, their recent crap home form to Arsenal added to the fact they perform under par against the top clubs should be enough to see Chelsea win.
Of course, I hope I'm completely wrong.

I have to agree with you there, if we played Arsenal a month ago it would have been a different story and I expect that we would of won but at the moment Arsenal are playing the better football, I would be very, very happy if we managed to get a point from this game.

I'm starting to feel like this could be a terrible weekend for us. I'd definetely be happy with a draw, especially since our defence is leaking goals here, there and everywhere. Our mentality just seems to be, 'you can score, but we'll just score more'. Which is fine and dandy at times but when you're up against the likes of Thierry Henry, RVP, Fabregas and the like it really doesn't bode well. We need to be as solid as ever and it just seems we'll need a huge kick up the arse to do so defensively. Carrick has done a good job in the DMF position thus far and will face a huge test come Sunday.
Liverpool - Chelsea will be great I reckon even if there aren't a significant number of goals. What would be even better is if Ashley Cole get's hacked down and possibly injured by Gerrard and in the process Gerrard hurts himself. ;) That would be ideal in a way but of course it will never happen.
This weekend though, regarding the two fixtures, really could go either way. I mean the tension is quite high and if we somehow have the lord shine on us and we take a 9 point lead, it'll give us the extra boost to win the Premiership.

18-01-2007, 20:40
Sounds good to me...(fuck we better win).
In all seriousness, I'll post what I think.
Defensively United seem a bit shaky at times, but this is offset by a brilliant attacking unit which on its day can tear anyone to shreds - hopefully Sunday isn't one of those days. In midfield you have arguably two of the best players in the Premiership right now in Scholes and Ronaldo, who are playing alongside two players in form in Giggs and Carrick...it's hard to see a weakness!
However, having said that I feel if we get on the ball we can make your life difficult. We strive on possession, yet even if this is in short supply, we can open up teams on the counter-attack at will at times. A big question is how we go into the game. Last time we looked disciplined and with the 5 man midfield we took control of the game very early on and never really reliquinshed that control. I don't feel we'll play 5 across the middle this time, so it'll be interesting to see how well we keep the ball.
The most interesting thing for me is where Ronaldo will play. Clichy is defensively a lot more sound than Eboue so I'd hope he stays on the right, if he decides to go at Eboue, we could be in trouble.
I just feel at home we're starting to click and if we dictate the pace of the game at the start, I see no reason why we can't win.
And if you draw, you two must put "We Love Chelsea!" in your sig's :ninja:

The only good thing for us is that Gilberto is suspended, he has arguably been their best player this season and it means that hopefully they will play Flamini and Paul Scholes can teach the true meaning of football.
IMO we can beat them, Park was dazzling against Villa and lets hope SAF picks him and he performs again and Ronaldos form has been frightening.
I think Saha should start again alongside Ole.
Park wasn't dazzling against Villa. Probably half the time he was in possession of the ball he gave it away cheaply. And I'm sure when he did actually have the ball, he hadn't a clue what to do with it, he seemed to unorthadox and shaky. He scored a goal, great, but a goal doesn't automatically boost a pretty average performance to anything superb. It might though, give him the morale boost he is needing to become more confident on the ball. If so, I'm sure he can be a threat.
Saha starting alongside Ole ? I understand Rooney may need a rest but with their partnership being so solid earlier this season before Saha turned into wood again, they worked great. Isn't it great having the classic 4 striking options again ?
Wayne Rooney
Louis Saha
Henrik Larsson
Ole Gunner Solskjaer

The most interesting thing for me is where Ronaldo will play. Clichy is defensively a lot more sound than Eboue so I'd hope he stays on the right, if he decides to go at Eboue, we could be in trouble..
Disagree with that part, Eboue's marking and positioning is suspect, but he's superb in 1v1 situations against Ronaldo style wingers. He had Robinho in his pocket at the Bernabeu (in his pocket is an understatement if anything, I don't think Robinho beat him once), as well as destroying Mutu and Nedved last year. Clichy has been playing well lately, but he has a tendency to dive in and often relies on his pace to bale him out.
IMO the game will depend on two things, how our fullbacks handle your wingers, and how well we mark your runners. At OT Gilberto did a superb job marking Scholes' and Rooney's late runs. Flamini is undoubtedly a big game player, but I question whether he can do the job as well as Gilberto.
Hopefully the whole thing will just be a big anti-climax and it will turn out to be a boring 0-0 draw.

One of the old Wenger tricks me thinks. Says someone's injured, then the day of the game they 'manage to make the bench', turns out they're starting.
Yeah sounds like that to me, I kind of hope he is fit because otherwise Walcott might play and I think he would be deadly against our defence at the moment.

2-0 at the mo to Liverpool and Chelsea have been shite. Assuming there isn't a come back it won't really matter what'll happen verus Arsenal. Though I hope we win and stretch the lead to 9 points, that'd be great. Can see it being a draw though. Man U usually perform well against the big teams although so do Arse. I think it'll be a draw.

I told you Liverpool will win, and we will too :D
If we win tomorrow it will probably be the best Premiership weekend that we have had in a long while, I still think we will draw and if we do that would be a great result now. I was expecting that we would drop points this weekend but at least now we are guaranteed to still be 6 points ahead.

It has most certainly not been a satisfactory weekend. Now Larsson has been bought in we don't need him, if Larsson hadn't come in we wouldn't have loaned out Rossi.
"man united are short sighted"
What do you mean by that?
they cannot see the little(small) things like rossi and focus on the big things like (larrson) which will be a big mistake in the future
Not really, Ferguson had to decide whether to keep Rossi in the squad yet he hardly plays or loan him out to Parma where he will probably play week in, week out. Not really a hard decision.

United have done nothing at all wrong with Rossi. He hasn't even scored for the (shit) under-21 side we have (I mean Italy for those not following). His goal for Parma which I've just watched now while putting the Round 20 goals together is excellent and if he can save his former club from relegation it will do wonders for his confidence.

Or maybe a striker we are looking to bring in to the team in the summer, Fernando Torres would be a great signing and a future #10. I definetly think he will come in the summer as Fergie is a keen admirer and has made bids before.

Quoted in agreement, i seriously hope Bayern turn down our bid for Hargreaves we dot need him and he is not worth £20m
I would rather see somebody like Sweinsteiger come in, he can play left midfield, right midfield and centre midfield and he is a class act. He is also still relatively young.
Guillermo
23-01-2007, 13:23

I suppose that is true but if we could get him for £20 million I think that would be a very good buy considering his age and talent.
mufcsean
23-01-2007, 13:24
Yeah i'd rather have him, he could take over Scholes as he is more of an attacking player than what Hargreaves is, he and Carrick play the same position, the only good thing about Hargreaves is that he can also cover as a side back, but we have good enough defenders on the bench to do that
What ever happened to the interest we showed in Sevillas Puerta, I still think that he would be a very good signing for us. Werder Bremens Diego also looks like a very, very good prospect and fit in well in Scholes' position.
Although saying that I think that Scholes could still go on for 3 or 4 more years as he will only lose some pace and that has never really been a big part of his game.

Aye, will be great thinking from Sir Alex, and a great buy. Im also led to believe that he can play on the Right hand side too ? Handy little player. Apparently, we were linked with 'Xavi' from FC Barcelona a week or two back, we should really go for him IMO. He's a great player, great passer, can shoot, good Free-kick taker and a decent tackler.
We were linked with Xavi because the press thought that he would be part of a trade deal with Cristiano and that isn't going to happen.

Considering the amount of fuss Bayern are making over Owen Hargreaves, there is very little chance they'll sell Bastian Schweinsteiger - probably their most valuable player after Ballack's departure - to Man Utd, or anyone else for that matter, unless they offer silly money (30m+) In your case, there's probably no hope, as you've well and truly pissed them off with your approaches for Hargreaves, and losing their greatest talent to Man Utd would be too bitter a pill to swallow.
What ever happened to the interest we showed in Sevillas Puerta, I still think that he would be a very good signing for us.
Sevilla are trying to tie Antonio Puerta to a new contract past 2009, and it'd take a lot of money to prise him away. He's a very good young talent, but I think Morten Gamst Pedersen would be a more suitable signing for you, although i'm sure Mark Hughes would command a high fee for him, aswell.
all they need to do is click togeter and then you would have won against arsenal,it is just you dont play to your full potential.

Exactly, but I think that Fergie picked that largely based on the opposition. After the game at Old Trafford, Fergie probably felt he would need to pack the midfield to counter-act our swift midfield passing, which played the biggest part in our victory.

Del Piero claims Red Devils snub
Alessandro Del Piero has claimed that he turned down the chance to join Manchester United in the summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to bring the World Cup winner to Old Trafford after Juventus suffered relegation due to a match fixing conviction.
However Del Piero decided to remain with the Bianconeri, and the club's all-time record goalscorer has gone on to make his 500th appearance for the club in Serie B this season.
Now the cultured forward has revealed how he resisted the lure of United to try and secure his legacy at Stadio Delle Alpi.
"It's all true. I could have been a Red Devil," said Del Piero in The Sun.
"Manchester United representatives contacted me in August.
"At first I was flattered, but I never really thought of leaving Juventus.
"I've been playing 13 years in this club and I want to finish my career here. I'm sure Alex Ferguson understood my decision."
The United boss did not manage to strengthen his attack in the summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since returned to full fitness and the club have also recruited Henrik Larsson on loan.
Intresting, i'd love him here
