I agree. But before you actually beat the smaller teams I don't think that comment has much validity. Against the top teams I admit you raise your game, and the match at OT you totally deserved to win (the Emirates one a draw would have been fair). Hopefully there'll be a time where it's you were battling with for the title, and not Chelski.

Bitching aside, I don't for one second condone what Ronnie did, but before you all bitch about his dive to win the penalty just think to see if any of your own players have done something similar this season before bashing him in a post.

EDIT: Get in there Scholesy (really should have been booked by now).

I moan at Eboue pretty much every game that he does something stupid.

We had more possession, more shots and actually wanted to go for the win, so how you can say a draw would have been fair is beyond me.

Heh, stop clutching on loose straws, Arsenal could not mount a title challenge like United, I don't see how Arsenal are better in any way. You'd have to be deluded to think that. The table says it all. I doubt very much Arsenal will win the CL, and only the FA Cup is a real possibility, and not really that certain at all. Arsenal just play crap some games which they should win, consistency is everything.

Hell, we only bought 1 first XI player for £1m, so I expect us to do much better when we actually reinforce the squad rather than keeping the same one with which we got promoted with. Wigan and West Ham both spent several millions to do what we are doing now.

Have Arsenal? They spent a tad on Walcott but he's hardly a first teamer.

Depends really. Nowadays I'd say yes, but during the Keane/Vieira time it'd probably be us, the best years as it were.

In all honesty, United/Arsenal games now are nothing more than an averagely anticipated match. Since the departure of the two main team spirits, it just doesn't have the flare and usually ends up being a bland match.

It's the here and now we're all interested in. Both teams have vastly changed in the past year or two.

Yeah think Foster or Kuzkack(spelling?) will be United's number 1 keeper in one or two seasons but i prefer Kuzkack. And if C.Ronaldo does go to Barca (even though i don't want that to happen)
i would've liked Lionel Messi to come at Old Trafford. He might as well replace GIGGS(when he retires).Your thoughts on Lee Martin? And btw hoy did some of u guys change usernames

Can't see Ronaldo leaving as much as I hate to say it, he seems settled at United, and is playing great.

We play twice before Chelsea play their next game so we could end up being 12 points ahead of Chelsea and really put the pressure on. Admitedlly one of those games is against Liverpool but I think a win is very possible the way that we are playing at the moment. The key game is still going to be when we play Chelsea, if we don't lose to Chelsea I think the title is ours.

Joel

 i have to agree, Simao has a face i could punch but still a very good player if we could sign anyone, i would personally love to sign M.G Pederson, he is on excellent form at the moment and could replace Giggs on the left wing, as for replacing Ronaldo, that would be horrible, nobody is on the form he is at the moment, i doubt Ribery would come to us as he looks set to join Arsenal, as for Pennant, your joking right, the guy has been shit all season, i think we would have a lot of money from selling Ronaldo so we could buy a very good replacement, Park could play on the right and buy somebody for another position

Everton have signed on-loan keeper Tim Howard from Manchester United on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old United States star has signed a five-year contract, that will start at the end of the season.

He has been in outstanding form at Everton since falling out of favour at Manchester United, keeping 11 clean sheets in 27 appearances.

Howard said: "The club shares my ambition - that is for sure. So does the manager and so do fans."

He added: "I was drawn to the club for a number of reasons and the players in the dressing room are one of them."

Everton manager David Moyes told the club website: "We are delighted to have Tim Howard.

"He has come in this season and proved he is a good keeper and we are pleased to have secured him."

United have new England international Ben Foster and Polish keeper Tomasz Kuszczak as back-up to Edwin van der Sar, leaving Howard's future at Old Trafford under a cloud.

Manchester United paid £2.3m to sign Howard from New York/New Jersey Metrostars in July 2003, and he played 77 games for them before moving to Goodison last summer.

Eric tells Ron: Be like Giggs

Cristiano Ronaldo has been told to use Ryan Giggs as inspiration and keep on playing at Old Trafford for years to come.

Since joining the Reds in 2003, the 22-year-old Portuguese winger has gone from being relatively unknown, though full of potential, to being considered the best player in the world by Sir Alex Ferguson.

There has been speculation of his future in recent weeks, but one of his friends, former Reds midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba, says Ronaldo is enjoying his football.

"I speak to Ronaldo on the phone all the time and we meet up for a coffee and go out a lot in Manchester,” said the former Nantes midfielder, now on loan from Aston Villa with Championship side Burnley.

“I've been telling him to stay in England, not to go to Spain. I think he understands that, I know he does. He tells me he is not leaving. The manager at United likes him, the players like him and the fans like him. So why go?”

During Djemba-Djemba’s time at United following a £3.5million move to Old Trafford, the Cameroonian looked up to Giggs.

Just three matches off 700 appearances for United, the Welshman is an inspirational figure at the club.

“He should use Ryan Giggs as an example,” says Eric. “When United played against Villa this season I went into their dressing room and said to Giggs: 'You're 33 and you're still as quick as ever. How do you do it? You're amazing'."

"But I think he can wait to move to a club like Barcelona or Real Madrid, he is still only 22. If he wants, he could move in three or four years and still have some good seasons there.”

And Djemba-Djemba feels there is every reason to stick around, with success just around the corner for the Reds. “I think United will win the Premiership this year,” he says, before adding: “I hope they do.”

I Will Go Back - Larsson

The Swede has insisted that he will be returning to Helsinborg on the 12th of March, as set in his current loan deal.

The former Celtic and Barcelona striker was snapped up by Sir Alex Ferguson to provide cover, depth, experience and an edge to the Manchester Unted attack.

He has done all that, and impressed over the last six weeks, and there has been talk of him staying on beyond March, when he must return to Hensinborg for the start of the Swedish league season.

However, Larsson has insisted he will be sticking to the letter.

"This is a great adventure for me. It's brilliant," he told the Mirror.

"I arrived in January and I'm going home in March to play in Sweden.

"That suits me. I'm happy here and positively surprised that I've played as much as I have done.

"It's incredibly fun."

It would have been great if he stayed with us til the end of the season.

I'm sure you'd never confuse me with a United fan but having seen the Odemwingie goal, it was rightly disallowed. Well he stopped him from getting the header in so for me it was a foul.

For me Vidic felt a hand on his shoulder and went down hoping for a free kick. Something you really shouldn't risk in your own area.

Anyone else want Odemwingie's leg to snap?

No.

Surprising move from Puel as he always strikes me as a mature tactician. Giggs' goal was definitely legal.

A very strange match to say the least. We looked uncomfortable throughout the whole game to be honest, it was slightly relieving to hear the final whistle go. I thought Vidic was pushed in the area leading to the disallowed goal, it wasn't a big push but you simply aren't allowed to nudge someone in the back. As for Giggsy's free-kick, it was perfectly fine. Me and my dad have had many conversations about this before and come to the conclusion that why should the team who commited the foul be allowed the advantage of preparing their team to prevent you scoring ? If anything, the team who were obstructed by the foul should have an advantage, hence the opportunity of a quick free-kick.

Anyone heard the excuse for beating the United fans with batons ? According to Sky Sports News reporting from France (or something similar) a lot of United fans "had fake tickets". I don't know exactly what's happening but to me that sounds like shite. If they had fake tickets in the first place then who's fault is it for letting them in ? Then how would the Police know who had the fake tickets when they started using their batons anyway. It just sounds like they're trying to cover up for their own idiocy.

You were lucky to win last night guys, Lille played some fantastic football, i agree with the refs decision to disallow their goal it was a blatant push.

The goal was fair enough it was just quick thinking from giggs, ive seen it happen so many times before.

Also it was bad sportsmanship from the lille coach what a silly arse!
Lille should be chucked out of the comp for the fans and coaching staff.

If they are it would probably cost Lille a hell of a lot of money, the board won't be happy with that coach who called the players in.

nah doesn't seem like that, even to the chairman(seydoux) he thoughtwhat the coach did was rigth. And the Jibe about the french always surrendering is exemplified in that game, two 'bad' decisions go against them and they throw the towel in.

What, just so they could loose again? Nah, with the crowd problems on a lunatic would offer a replay... Then again Top Gun has a point.

My only bug is if it had been at OT and the man u fans had been throwing stuff on the pitch they'd have kicked us out without a second thought.

Lille director general Xavier Thuilot has hinted that Manchester United should be thrown out of the UEFA Champions League following the worrying crowd scenes that accompanied their clash on Tuesday night.

Uefa has already launched an investigation into the events that saw the United end of the ground apparently suffer from overcrowding in a stormy 1-0 win for the English side.

French police sprayed tear gas at the away crowd after some supporters attempted to scale perimeter fencing, and it has been reported that 5,000 fans were in a section of terracing designed to hold 3,500.

Uefa will discuss the issue on 22nd March after investigating 'possible violations of binding Uefa safety and security instructions by the host club, as well as the alleged improper conduct of both sets of supporters'.

United are planning to submit their own report to Uefa after consulting fans that were present at Stade Felix-Bollaert - some of whom have complained of heavy-handed policing - but Lille have now pointed the finger at their English counterparts.

Thuilot has claimed that the actions of some United fans were in a similar vein to those Feyenoord supporters who resulted in their team being expelled from the Uefa Cup following trouble in a game against Nancy.

"Uefa gave the green light to our security measures on the morning of the match so if they punish us they are in effect punishing themselves," Thuilot told a press conference.

"Manchester United are imposing their own brand of the law to Lille football club, to the Felix-Bollaert stadium and to Uefa.

"There was a real will on their part to impose their side of the story right from the full-time whistle because the club knows what's at stake following incidents involving their supporters.

"It's up to Uefa to rule on the issue, but we are clearly in the same category as Feyenoord."

Thuilot also blamed United's early release of match tickets for a number of forgeries, leading to alleged overcrowding in the away end.

"We sent their quota of places to Manchester several weeks ago, as is the usual thing to do.

"But the English club, instead of distributing the tickets to their supporters on their arrival at the stadium (or) on their descent from the bus, sent them out a month ago.

"The result - some very good forgeries, which have allowed some supporters to enter the stand reserved for them. All the forged tickets on the night were Manchester United tickets."

United have quickly rejected such accusations, replying: "Tickets were distributed by recorded delivery 11 days before the game or for collection from February 1.

"We would normally send out tickets for our home games at Old Trafford six weeks before the match and we have no problems with forgeries."

I thought the possibility of throwing Lille out of the cup was harsh at first, a fine would suffice, but after seeing these kind of comments still then I say throw the bastards out.
