You'd be very, very lucky to get all three players for £25m.

Nolan, seeing as he is English, will cost at least £15m.
Huntelaar about £12-15m
Sneijder about the same price imo
Ribery will definitely cost around £15m.

Top Gun
12-04-2007, 12:08
I don't want Ribery or Nolan. Sneijder and Huntelaar for £25m would suit me nicely, they are both young and have the ability to become World Class players. I would put Sneijder as one of the few players who could sort of fill the role which Scholes will vacate.

Guillermo
12-04-2007, 12:36
As you have noticed I mentioned 3 Dutch guys. It's nothing racist

I don't see how that could be deemed racist.

Huntelaar and Sneijder would be excellent signings, but whether they should be our top priority is another matter. First and foremost we need a left winger (and to get rid of that Richardson shite), and a right back. Trouble is there aren't many good right backs available at the moment. After that, we need a young cheap defensive mid with bags of potential.

As long as you don't go for Dani Alves, I'll be happy.

Top Gun
12-04-2007, 12:53
There is a severe lack of good young right backs at the moment with Dani Alves being the only "available" one at the moment. Lahm could fall into the category but he would cost a fortune and Bayern don't really seem to want to sell to us at the minute. Bardsley has been doing quite well for Villa but he would need to improve greatly to be a first teamer.

I would like to see Antonio Puerta come from Sevilla to fill the left midfield role, he is young and according to Sevilla is available for £6m. He has a great work rate and can fill in at left back if needed, he is unproven but from what I have seen he is a good prospect.

I doubt we would go for Alves, there are many clubs interested in him and he would cost atleast £15 million and we are apparently spending most of it on Hargreaves :realmad:

Getting a striker has to be our number one priority, we need a 20+ goal scorer. We also need a cheap DMF, Mavuba comes to mind.

Sneijder would be a perfect replacement for Scholes, his goal scoring abilities are amazing, he has amazing technique. I'll be suprised if he will be at Ajax next season.

Agree with you but I don't think we'll get Hargreaves. Concerning the left midfield Puerta, Ribery or Nani would be really good, especially Puerta cuz it seems he'll come cheap.

For right back there's a 22 year old guy from Sevilla, name's Adriano. He's a right back but can play well on the left too. He's a great player.

And concerning Lahm are you guys sure he's a right back cuz I know his right foot is stronger but he plays on the left side right?

Guillermo
12-04-2007, 16:12

He is primarily a right back but is forced to play on the left side for Munich and Germany because of Sagnol and Friedrich. I love Lahm's attacking style and pace, but I'm sure he'd be suspect in defence up against world class wingers. If he were available (which I'm certain he isn't) I'd take him without question.

Two double swoops on the cards? Puerta and Adriano, Huntelaar and Sneijder? :ninja:

More realistically though, it'll be just Hargreaves. :crymore:

Full article:

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new five-year contract with Premiership leaders Manchester United.
The 22-year-old Portuguese winger has ended speculation over his future after being linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"I am delighted. I spoke with Sir Alex Ferguson about my future and everyone knew that I wanted to stay," he said.

"I am very happy at the club and I want to win trophies and hopefully we will do that this season."

United boss Ferguson added: "It is fantastic news, it emphasises the point that Cristiano is happy here and that he is at the right club.

"He has a great relationship with the team, staff and the fans and he will go on to be one of Manchester United's great players."

Ronaldo has been in scintillating form for United this season as they aim to win the treble of the Champions League, the Premiership and the FA Cup.

He is also the favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

Ronaldo joined United from Sporting Lisbon for £12m in August 2003, on a five-year contract which he extended by a further two years in November 2005.

He was strongly linked with a move following the World Cup, where he was involved in controversy with his involvement in Wayne Rooney's sending-off in Portugal's quarter-final win over England.

But Ronaldo has returned to England to lead United's charge on the treble.

Probably not, it would probably have to be a new World Record bid for me to even think about it.

I look at it like this, over his career he is going to make the club shit loads of money if he keeps playing like this with trophys and he will always keep the crowds coming back. I would love him to stay at the club for his whole career as 10 seasons of what he has done this year would make him a United legend no doubt.

Hunter

It's not about that, it's about the fact that Ronaldo is worth far more than £40m to our club. I don't really care how much is brought in for him to be honest, I'd hate to see him be sold. He is irreplaceable to our current team, it would be like selling Rooney. No matter how much, I'd hate to see it happen.

Nope. Don't really watch the Boosh that much but the ones I have seen have been quality. How did they get round to talking about Sartre?

I saw a T-Shirt I wanted once on Holiday that had on it:

"To be is to do - Nietzche
To do is to be - Sartre
Do be do be do - Sinatra"

I still want it!
Sounds quality ;)

Howard was discussing it with Milky Joe (a coconut he drew a face on whilst stranded on a desert island).

Seen MoTD this morning, some nice goals.

Lucky you. Me, I need to wait till 12:50 to watch telefoot(a French Football show) to see the goals.:( The time here is GMT+4:crymore:

Concerning the centre/defensive midfielder we might sign, I'm thinking of Jean Makoun, Sulley Ali Muntari and Matt Flamini.( He hasn't been playing lately, maybe the bloke is off Wenger's plans?)

Back to Manchester United talk. Do you guys remember this:

Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed to become the best player in the world
after claiming he has already surpassed Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

Ronaldo is the latest in a long line of talented No 7s at Old Trafford.

George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham have all worn the shirt with distinction down the years.

Ronaldo is in no doubt he belongs in such illustrious company, and believes he can even top the list.

"My dream is to win the Ballon d'Or and I am working to be the best player in the world," Ronaldo told the News of the World.

"Since I was a kid I have been trying to become the best winger in the world and now I want to go a step farther.

"There is still some way to go but the challenge is there and I am trying. I hope the moment arrives soon.

"After me the best No 7 that I have seen was Eric Cantona. But I am still only 21 and I want to surpass everything I have achieved so far."

Ronaldo also rounded on his critics, branding them jealous after they sharpened their knives following the controversial penalty incident at Middlesbrough.

"The incident against Boro has caused many comments, but it was a valid penalty. I do not dive," added Ronaldo.

"Nor do I search for controversy. But I am a person accustomed to the critics and they are not a problem for me.

"Perhaps the critics are jealous. I do not think I have to change. I am the same person that arrived in England hungry for success."

I think he can become the number one in the world now.

P.S It was Milky Joe who posted the news from Sky Sports some time back.

I was never going to say this but you made me do it. You just know that a Portsmouth player will never be of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, you are just jealous that no one in your team will ever be as good as Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo or George Best.

Sorry, just saw this. I lol'd, I mean I lol'd harder than a loler that lol'd a lot.

First off, jealous? I don't have any ideas of grandure, I know we will never be as good as a team like you, not for a good 15 years at least if it was ever going to happen. That is possibly the most idiotic statement I've ever heard. The only teams that might believe that they are better than Man Utd will be Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham and Leeds. The latter are only there because their fans are cunts. (No offence Dave).

My original comment was about Christiano saying he was better than Cantona, that is just idiotic, he is in a purple patch. Yes a very good one that might stay longer than a couple of years. Personally Cantona is one of top three players to ever grace this league.

Thirdly;

Rio Ferdinand feels he will only miss one match after hurting his groin in Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final win over Watford.

The defender was forced out of the 4-1 triumph at Villa Park towards the end of the first half and will undergo a scan on the injury on Sunday.

He expects to sit out Tuesday's Premiership game with Sheffield United, but is optimistic about being fit for next weekend's fixture with Middlesbrough.

"I don't know about Tuesday, but think I should be all right for Saturday," said Ferdinand.

There's news about Rio. I think the best we can hope for Vidic's return is the second leg in Milan.

I'm sure I read about Fergie supposedly being interested in signing Mathieu Flamini recently, and he's more than welcome to him. He's been saying he'd like a move to Italy, and Inter and Juve are his favoured clubs. Maybe if they're after a long distance runner with minimal football ability they'll give you a call, Mathieu.

Alex Song probably has more potential, and that tells you all you need to know. He's the definition of average.

Top Gun

Senderos is a talented young centre back, but isn't suited to the Premiership. He's very accomplished in Europe for us, but is caught out by the pace of the Premiership, and appears much more suited to La Liga or Serie A, where I believe he can fulfill his potential and become a top class defender.

Top Gun
15-04-2007, 23:33
I think La Liga would be his best bet as whenever he comes up against a big physical striker like Drogba then he always seems to get beaten easily, although saying that he isn't the quickest either so some of the Spanish players like Eto'o or Villa could tear him apart. Personally I don't think he will ever do that well and will probably end up playing for a UEFA Cup team at best.

A lot of major European clubs were interested in signing him before he signed for Arsenal, including Bayern Munich, AC Milan, AS Roma and all the top English clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them came in for him, as some of his performances in the Champions League have been top class. In Premiership terms, I have more confidence in Johan Djourou.

On a related note, Gerard Pique looks like a brilliant prospect. I've seen quite a lot of his performances for Zaragoza this season, and each time i've been impressed. Great composure and confidence for such a young defender. He has a big future.

Top Gun
16-04-2007, 00:21
I have seen Pique a bit for Zaragoza and him and Milito look like a great partnership, hopefully he will want to come back to Man Utd and not want to go to Spain. Although he has had an history of struggles against Drogba, he was pretty solid at Stamford Bridge. Also, Senderos was very good against Man United at the Emirates stadium.

I'm happy with Senderos as our third choice centre-back. He is still young and can improve, despite being fairly inconsistent.

Old Trafford really is a nice stadium, but the Quadrants do ruin it a bit I think. There is far too much concrete showing for it to blend in with the other sections of the ground. I'm sure I've seen a big screen at Old Trafford before, I think they may just bring it out for non-football related nights. You didn't see the Blackburn goal ? Where were you sat mate ? Every view is quite great apart from the T3 of the North Stand I can imagine.

I've also heard rumours that a minority of Chelsea fans tore the place apart. Spray painting and ripping seats out of their places, this would be all easily fixed but it's rather stupid of them if true.

I sat in the North Stand tier 1. It was a great view but my view was blocked by a few of the players so I couldnt really see if the ball got deflected.

I didnt see any trouble at all but Im sure it probably did happen. Although the attendance was pretty poor for a semi final it had a good atmosphere. Havent really seen a better one from Chelsea fans this season apart from the 3-3 draw with the yids. Enjoyed my time up there and will hopefully be travelling back up to see us in the league next year. Only downside is the drive there

AC Milan goalkeeper Dida could miss the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Manchester United on 24 April because of a shoulder injury.
The Brazilian sustained the injury when he collided with the post during a Serie A match at Messina.

"We're worried," Milan doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We want to get a better understanding of the situation but we can't yet because Dida's shoulder is swollen."

Dida was making a save during Milan's 3-1 win when the incident happened but played on and did not start to feel pain until after the match.

Meersseman added that a shoulder injury like Dida's normally requires eight to 10 days to heal - which would make the 33-year-old a major doubt for the match at Old Trafford.

"Naturally, the goal is Manchester but there's not much hope," added Meersseman.

"On Thursday, if the swelling has gone down we will carry out more tests."

The return leg is on 2 May.

I Won't Leave Atletico Madrid For Champions League - Torres

Atletico Madrid skipper Fernando Torres insists he is focused on placing the club amongst Europe's elite, as opposed to the easy option of leaving for a bigger club.

The forward has been linked with big-money moves to Barcelona, Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, but has chosen to focus on the Colchoneros.

"I have not lost faith, us Atletico people never lose it," he told AS. "I don't think about leaving.

"There have been seasons in which things have not gone well, and you just want your holidays to start so you can forget everything, and hope you return and things are better.

"The important thing is where you feel good, and to win things you need to feel that.

"It can be difficult to find that feeling and, a team like that, but I am convinced I will win titles here."

The 23-year-old believes that Atletico could be a regular Champions League team in five years, and would rather be a part of that than play in the competition with someone else.

"When I am 28 I will have played in the Champions League and I will have done it with Atletico," he declared. "I only think about being here.

"I am not obsessed about winning things, and I am not going to leave to win titles or to play in Europe, as I want to do that with Atletico because this is the club I feel for."

:D :D :D, I'm glad he's not coming.

I do admire his loyalty to Atletico Madrid, shame there are not a lot players like that.

Manchester United To Decide On Piqué By Friday

Young Catalan Gerard Piqué will soon find out if he’s due to return to Manchester United or continue on loan to Real Zaragoza for another season to increase his experience before being plunged back into the Red Devil cauldron.

LINK:http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=2830 62

Hope we don't sell him. I wouldn't mind if we loaned him out to Zaragoza again though. Does he play well at midfield or is he better at centre back?

Phatmann
18-04-2007, 18:49
I think he's better at centre back, due to him being a giant.

Why was Kieran Richardson brought on last night when Cathcart and O'Shea were on the bench? What is the point in having Cathcart on the bench when he's not gonna come on (last 3 games a defender has got injured and someone else has come on instead of him, O'Shea, Fletcher, Richardson)

:(

Maybe he doesn't trust Cathcart yet or it was still early in the game. If Evra got injured in the 85 min or so, maybe he would play as we were 2-0 up by that time

Solskjaer reveals retirement plan

Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is likely to retire at the end of next season.
The 34-year-old intends to see out his current contract with United, which runs until June 2008.

But when asked if he could see a future beyond next season, Solskjaer told Norwegian newspaper VG: "No.

"I'll most likely stay at United. I've one year left on my contract and I'm aiming to do as well as possible to carry on."

He added: "I'll have to see how I feel. I could suddenly say enough is enough, but I'll stay here next year in any case."

Solskjaer, who is in his 11th season at Old Trafford, became a fans' hero when he scored a dramatic late winner to seal United's European Cup final win over Bayern Munich in 1999.

The Norwegian spent the best part of three seasons on the sidelines as he battled knee problems.

Despite fears that he would be forced to retire, Solskjaer returned to full fitness in July last year and has made 27 appearances for United this season.

"I'm almost certain I'll be better next season. Then I'll have this season behind me after two or three years out," he said.

"I'll be able to play at a higher level."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/6572993.stm

It sounds about right to me, he has got a few goals this season and could probably play for another season. It'll be an emotional retirement. :crymore:

yeah. He's a legend

Also, Sir Alex Ferguson has been handed a major boost as he seeks the second treble success of his glittering career with news that central defender Nemanja Vidic could be fit for the FA Cup and a potential Champions League Final in May.

The Serbian international is recovering ahead of schedule after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Blackburn recently and club medical staff are confident he will be ready and match fit for the FA Cup Final against Chelsea on May 19 and the Champions League Final in Athens four days later, should United beat AC Milan to get there.

Yeah it will be really sad when Ole retire's. He has been an amazing player, and that's an understatement. His finishing is immense, always has been. One of United's biggest legends - No doubt.

Good news about Vidic though. I hope that he is fit for the FA Cup and Champions League Final (If we get through). Brown hasn't been bad really, but no way near Vidic standard's.

Guillermo

Injury-hit Manchester United could be boosted by the return of Nemanja Vidic before the end of the season.
Vidic, 25, broke his collarbone in United's 4-1 win against Blackburn in March and was ruled out for five weeks.

Boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Vidic is coming along very, very well, and he starts training on Monday.

"He's been doing some work in the gym but on Monday he'll start some serious work and hopefully he might possibly be available for the latter games."

Ferguson also hopes several others will return before the end of the campaign as United chase a second Treble.

"Gary Neville is progressing quite well, there's a chance he'll be ready for Everton.

"We'll make a decision on Ji-sung Park next week.

"We've seen the specialist and hopefully we can get an opinion on what the next stage should be.

"Louis Saha is continuing his progress with the physios, but I don't think he'll be fit for this week."

United do have Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Patrice Evra fit after minor injuries.
