. If Jaap Stam thinks that Manchester United are THE best team to play for in england, then there must be other quality players like him who would love to play for us. We need to find more players like him. Its just a shame that he and Sir Alex couldn't sort out their differences in the end.
It wasn't just difference with SAF that saw Jaap on his way. His book referred to the Nevilles for instance as 'a couple of busy c*nts'. I guess that is him playing up the stereotype of being the outspoken, opiniated dutch footballer but the other stereotype is that Dutch footballers aren't the best when it comes to team unity. That's why he went, for his overall affect on the team spirit. That is the one thing SAF won't abide, someone being a primadonna and disrutpting the bond between all the players. That is why Beckham wemt and I daresay it might have something to do with why he is giving Ronaldo a rest period. I reckon it is also partly a cooling off period. Ronaldo is young and inexperianced and so Sir Alex will be willing to give him more chances to appreciate his team mates but proabably not too many chances.
Hopefully Ronaldo can look up to the example of Smith. He had a very tough transfer, he puts the team first and is willing to wait until he gets his chances (eg he lost his place to Ruud when Ruud came back from injury) and certainly doesn't chase the personal glory but still manages to score more goals them when he was at Leeds.
I wonder what reception Stam will get at OT ?

be very careful in going down this road, yes Smith is an example to most of uniteds squad this season and yes Ronaldo hasnt been at his best and has been wasteful recently, but i remember who was nobbing Smith's girlfriend not long after he came over to England when Smith was still at Lids and im betting this wasnt far from Smiths mind when he had a pop at him the other day.

See the thing is, us selling Stam was the catalyst in our so called 'decline'. It left our defence in tatters.
Your're right there. He was awsome no nonsense defender who you just can't replace. On the other hand, after he shot his mouth off and got shipped to Lazio he got done for Steroids so all in all even though he was a massive loss to the team it was maybe for the better. We had a bad defensive record that season but the main catalyst for the 'decline' I reckon was breaking up the most effective midfield in the Prem and changing style of play to accomodate new players. Even now it is still proving hard to find players for a midfield anywhere near as good as the what we had before Keane was in his prime and Beckham up his own ass
by breaking up the midfield do you mean selling beckham?

well hes not as bad as some gooners :D.....the decline was due to the shift of style in play before it was more possesion n tempo play (i reckon) ........ wats this about smith n ronaldo sum1 xplain
Becks was a football player when at ManU. When ha became too much of a celebrity, Sir Ferguson shipped him to Real. Where he has been shit. He used to control ManU's game from the right side, he was a good footballer and I respect that, but he has changed into a popstar really.
http://pub.tv2.no/multimedia/TV2/archive/00120/Rio_Ferdinand_120475a.jpg
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to open talks with Rio Ferdinand regarding a contract extension
The 26-year-old's performances have been a primary factor in United's upsurge in form and he is due to be rewarded at the end of the season.
But that has not stopped Premiership rivals Chelsea being sporadically linked with a bid for Ferdinand, with the big-spending London club likely to top the ex-West Ham United ace's Old Trafford salary.
Source: http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=247691&CPID=8&CLID=1&lid=&title=Rio+set+for+deal+reward&channel=Premiership
There was no doubt about Man Utd offering him a new contract, but Chelsea wanting to buy him, i could probably see Alex selling Rio. as The Godfather Corleone would say ' Make em an offer he cant refuse'. Ok, Ambrahamovic wont exactly shoot Alex in the head, or cut his horses head off and place it in his bed when hes sleeping, but he will offer him a lot of money.

Agree.
Becks doesn't possess any extraordinary qualities at all, other than precision from dead ball situations. So much for a world-class superstar, poor dribbling, tackling, heading, etc...
He still has the freekicks as Figo10 said, but Becks has no dribbling skills, no pace whatsoever. He was so embarassing in Euro 2004. He was hiding in the right flank only passing backwards. And those penalties, even I would have shot better.

due to the fact that real is not a champion team but a teams of champions, but becks still prove he can still score goals out side of deadballers eg. wales game.........not too smart tho (the comment he made after the game)

I wonder what he was trying there, perhaps aiming for the top corners, but any sensible person, even us, would just aim for the bottom ones. Low shots are harder to save and easier to be on target.
Come On Milan. 5 Nil Or Just 4 Nil Depending On Magic Roy.

For England, Beckham usually depends on Gary Neville to get past people in order to make a cross. He is just idly occupying his position now, thanks to Sven and the better player SWP has to watch from the bench.
Although I'm a Milan fan, I'll use the word 'we' when talking about Man Utd, as it's my favourite in England.
Stunning result against Exeter. I can't believe we couldn't get a goal and played like crap. Not even our subs (Ronaldo, Scholes, Smith) were able to score a goal.
Yes, we really need to get rid of the dead wood and need a new manager. Fergie' has been one of the best managers in the world for a long time, but last season I think it started. He's losing his touch. Although Porto won the CL, I can't say I wasn't very disappointed for losing to them.
And the Carling Cup match against Chelsea. We must go with a first team squad, but give two or three guys a chance. Maybe bring them in as subs. Chelsea's not going to play their reserves.
Lost seraphim
09-01-2005, 01:38
I think forcing Fergie out would be very disrespectful, besides, who else would be suitable to run Man Utd?
United should play a close to full strength squad against Chelsea. They will be fielding a very strong starting team, with the exception of Arjen Robben who's suspended. And if Fergie is thinking or getting a consolation trophy this season it's probably in this competition.
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge are a strong opposition, United wouldn't stand a chance if they fielded players like Bellion, Fletcher, Richardson etc. They're not experienced enough to play in a grand stadium against numerous world stars.
i agree Fergie needs to be moved but i ask myself one question. Who would replace him ??
to me and many Man Utd fans even if we are going through a rough time he is irreplacable.
flops - Bellion , Djemba , Kleberson

I didn't say the board would force Fergie out of the club completely. I bet that they plan on "moving him upstairs" as a sign of respect.
i'll bet they aren't..... He aint going no-where until he's ready to.
Arsenal seem to be doing that all the time. Thats why our reserve team is worse than theirs.
errr..... now this normally can never really be proved one way or the other, but didnt our reserves beat them 1-0 VERY recently?
Arsenal get away with playing reserve players now and then because Wenger isnt afraid to risk players like Vieira, Lauren, Toure, hell even Henry to back them up in the 'easy' games 90% of the time, but, every time he does that he's taking a big risk which one day maybe might haunt him.
Whenever he is asked why he hasnt given the likes of campbell or vieira a rest after these types of games he says "i havent got a big enough squad not to" - surely not the words of someone with a fantastic reserve team?
In contrast if we played Rio, Keano or Giggsy in these sort of games they would very likely end up fucked then we'd be in more of a shambles then we already are. Wengers merely a gambler of epic proportions but good luck to him I say.
So, to recap, Richardson, Eagles, Bellion and Jones to just name a few may very well all become top players, but we arent going to see it if they arent given a chance to come through
A) Gradually
and
B) ONE AT A TIME!!
If fergie thinks he can recreate the 'golden generation' of the nevilles, becks, scholes etc in one fell swoop, then he's mistaken, that was a one off.
Hey, dont sell Bellion!! i think he can be really good!!!
Buy Gravesen, i diodnt think he was any good but after watchin a few maches, i think he would be a great aqquisition. do a swap deal him for Kleberson
i completely disagree.
simple way - Bellion is shite !
Darth Daft
11-01-2005, 20:05
Well, I'll bet they're seriously thinking about it. I think, they SHOULD be looking at potential future managers to takeover anywhere in the next 1-3 years.
yeah, in maybe 3 years, but they cant really go looking without giving Sir the major hump, and a lot can change in three years, a year before Wenger joined arsenal, no-one had heard of him, and before Porto won the Uefa cup, no-one really rated Mourinho.
Oh, come on! We beat them 1-0 because of a mistake by Almunia. The original shot by Bellion was straight at the keeper and as a result, that goal changed the game as that goal was scored in the 1st minute. Had we not scored then, we might well have struggled to get a result.
yeah we might have done, but we didnt because Arsenal were absolutley dogshit, trust me, i was at the game, and Howard only looked troubled from Pennants free kick. To be honest, i was majorly dissapointed in the gooners reserves, i thought they were out of their depth at OT. Im not saying our reserves are fantastic, but dont believe all the media hype bigging up the gooners reserves, they arent anything like our golden generation, but there is one or two talented players in the team, just like ours.
Richardson is just too clumsy. Whenever he plays, he ALWAYS loses the ball and whenever he gets a chance in on goal, he fluffs it. Just look at the weekend and the Fenerbahce away game to prove my point. I just can't see him becoming even a decent winger. Eagles can become a top player but he really needs to bulk up. Bellion is just speed and thats about it. I haven't seen enough of Jones so I can't judge him.
I still dunno about Richardson, for the youth team, he has showed some awesome stuff no doubt, and i think hes done enough for the 1st team to not be dumped just yet, Eagles as you say needs to build himself up but even then im sceptical of his chances.
But lucky for Bellion and company, Fergie doesnt have many options at the moment so they'll get their lifeline chance before Fergie shows his ruthlesness and clears house.

I'll say United will run out 2-1 winners at Anfield. Morientes seems to be effective wherever he goes, and will possibly score on his debut. Hopefully he isn't ready to play yet :) Liverpool haven't looked like title contenders so far this season yet.

Rooney's goal was a shocking one, I have no idea how Dudek missed that.
You all have to admit that.
Brown was crazy though.
First time I've watched him play, but he was wild. Tackling anything that moved.
Deserved getting sent off.
Keane played well.
Fletcher was quite most of the match, and Scholes did well.
yes, liverpool did do well.I think the goal came very much against the run of play and it did change the game.Always felt confident we could see the game through that was until the sending off but i think we did deserve the win and liverpool lacked ideas.I hope moro does very well for the club as i respect him very much as a player.

We've all seeing in the past that the men from the marble halls don't take shock defeats to well. We knocked them out of the FA Cup last season and soon their aspiring treble dreams were dashed by Chelsea in Europe. We know all about the mind games which accompany United - Gunner showdowns and there'll be more hype than a boxing promoter pumping steroids the later this month progresses.
Infact, the Moaner Wenger has already threw his teddy out of the pram according to the Sky Sports website today.
Story at http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=250118&cpid=8&CLID=&lid=2&title=Wenger+finished+with+Fer gie&channel=Football_Home
We all know what United are capable of after Christmas. A few years ago I remember telling a friend at the match that United are the only team who can win every domestic game in the second half of the season. That year we clawed back a 12 point deficit and won the Premiership. This time round we're not the only team capable of such a feat. Cash injected Chelsea and the Wenger driven ego train boast the same qualities so playing catch up won't be easy. Still, United have been there before and Sir Alex knows better than anyone that the title is a long run in with many hurdles. My belief is that every team in the premiership has the potential to take points off any other team and a lot of points are still to be won and lost before the winning post is on us.
United won due to Liverpool's decision to play Pelligrino and Morientes from the start. They were lacking match action and have not trained much with the Liverpool players, but were forced into the game at such an early stage of their transfer.

At first it looked to me like Gerrard had indeed hooked an elbow on Scholsey. Scholes went to the ground and I flew from my chair enraged. The instant replay shown that Gerrard did catch Scholes either in his chest or throat. I wouldn't say it was malicious, if anything Scholes went down a little easy. Both United and 'Pool fans don't need telling of the intencity on the pitch when the two giants meet either side of the M62. I can fully understand both players incentives and motives.
Keano was subjected to a slightly over zealous challenge by Riise in the opening seconds of the match. Minutes later Riise was clattered by Phil Neville. This goes on in derby matches and it's a very naive onlooker who doesn't come to expect it.
Rooney's incident with Ben Haim was off the ball and very foolish. Rooney is young outstanding talent in a mans game but he is prone to letting the child in him show itself from time to time. Hopefully, under the watchful eye of Sir Alex, Wayne will mature to be one of the most exciting forwards this country has produced for many years.

Just last season i saw him play against everton he and ronaldo worked very well together, Djemba should be off-loaded while bellion should go, his talents can be used at other teams coz right now he's lightyears down the pecking order

Fergie needs to retire soon because as he gets older and also his decision making. If you reflect on what he did last year you would probably understand what i meant. First he bought alot of youngsters and hoped that they'll be a replacement of players like Giggs, Scholes, Veron and Beckham. Half of them didn't succeed in doing so and Manutd still depend too much on their old players. Players like Fletcher and Miller were not classy enough to do anything. Also the signing of Ronaldinho which i wouldn't talk much about it because it's very chaotic by using cheap bets on him comparing to the Roony bet. He also missed good player like Robin as you can see he would defintely be a good replacement for Giggs by his peformance in Chelsea. If you compare to the money spend by Arsenal and Manutd you would defintely see Fergie had a brain of grass. End of the sentence Fergie defintely needs to retire.

As a replacement for Keane, somebody like Daniele De Rossi would be perfect.

i hope this happens as i think that Fegie has almost had it. not saying he is shit or anything like that but i think its about time he moved on in my opinion..

I wouldn't want O'Neill at Man U, because he hasn't really proved himself with any big clubs yet. I would like to see an Italian manager at Man U, e.g. Capello.
Changing topic, I've just read on skysports.com, that Chris Eagles has gone on loan to Watford for three months. I think it will be good for him but I doubt he has the ability to hold down a first team place, especially with Cristiano still around. Anyone know whether Spector is going to go on loan to Blackburn or if he already has?
it will be interesting to c who the next manager will be , i cant c ferguson leaving soon tho !

Like I was saying before, Capello would be perfect for us. He's managed 3 of the best teams in Europe and was successful every where he went. Not only this but, he wasn't defensive when he was at Real Madrid. They played some very good attacking football back then. It was his spells at AC Milan and Roma where his teams were defensive. And I'm not gonna back against him for success at Juve either.
if Capello becomes our manager, i hope he'll start to play attacking minded because (i think) Italians manager are usually defensive minded

thats very stereotypical isnt it???.....i beleive ancelotti plays quite offensive at times its the other milan manager (4got hisn name) whomis renowned 4 his defesince tactics......Cappello hes the only i see suitable 2 replace such a successful manager in SAF and probably Del Bosque.....but i think Queiroz is fergies successor
Del Bosque is a good choice for United, but Queiroz is probably FErgie's best seond manager in his career. Without them he has faltered badly, like last season, but now that he's came back, his tactics and training are suitable for United and with his help, United are surely stronger than they were when he went to Real.

when do you'se think Fergie will actually retire then ???
Martin O'Neill.
I would think of him as a good replacement for a specific reason, apart from the fact he is a great manager.
He is like Fergie in the way he manages, very fiery and emotional and I think if we went to someone cool calm and collected, like Capello, it may be too much of a change.
All in all I think Martin O'Neill is the way to go, being British is a plus as well.

It seems the United hierachy are grooming Queiroz. He is definately a brilliant coach. Look at how the defence has played over the the last couple of months and the way the team has been employing all sorts of attacking options. But there are ample cases where good coaches have failed as managers... Brian Kidd for instance.
What really sets SAF apart as a manager is his ability to motivate players and keep the hunger there season after season. Just look at some of the performance of the senior players this season not to mention the new faces like Smith and Rooney. When Alex came to United he hadn't been managing big players at a big club. He had taken Aberdeen beyond their wildest ambitions at that time. The new manager should be someone with similar qualities, not neccasarily someone with trophies from big clubs.
Martin O'Neill could be the right man. I am hugely impressed by David Moyes. Please note any Everton and Celtic fans who might be reading, I am not saying that they are not big clubs, just commenting how much I like the way the managers go about their business, motiviating their players and seeming to have unbelievable hunger and commitment.
On another note, I am very glad that Fletcher had got into the team on a regular basis in the last couple of months. He seems to be getting better and better and he, Keane and Scholes are a qualilty combination in midfield.
Forlan wants back to prove himself !?!? I don't think theres much chance he'll be able to prove himself worthy of a place in front of RVN, Saha, Rooney and Smith ! Not to mention Solskjaer when he (let us all hope) returns to fitness. Forlan has a wee place in all our hearts becuase he is the man who exposed Dudek as the best United keeper since Schmeical but he just never came remotley close to cutting it as a United player !

read this, i think fergie is gonna b in a bit of trouble if true:
Fergie in 'tap' row
Alex Ferguson has been accused of tapping up French starlet Jeremy Menez by offering his parents financial incentives. Sochaux president Jean-Claude Plessis said of the Manchester United boss: “Ferguson even went to Jeremy’s parents’ home in the Paris suburbs and made them financial offers. Arsenal and Manchester United both wanted to take him away. But his parents are sensible people and they put their son’s career first.” United last night strongly denied they had done anything illegal. Communications director Phil Townsend insisted: “There is absolutely no question of us having tapped him up.”

never heard of that player but why does SAF always makes in the headline? like two weeks ago he commented about wenger now this :(
the lad is considered the dogs in France and he scored a hatrick at the weekend. I think he's only 17.
SAF has a bit of history with tapping up plsyers but most people in football don't consider it that heinous a crime. It's very widespread and just last week David O Leary and Villa just got their wrists slapped and a 5K fine from the FA for tapping up someone. Wenger got fined more for calling RVN a cheat
Sochaux's starlet Jeremy Menez explained his decision to snub Manchester United, after scoring his first hat-trick for the senior side at the weekend.
When I knew Sir Alex Ferguson was interested in me it was a great shock," said Menez. "It was something great.
"I have visited the facilities and I was in the stands for the match against Everton.
"But finally I chose to stay with Sochaux's academy because they had shown such faith in me."
"I didn't want to leave as a thief - that's all."

Well. The first time in my life when I supported Man U, and they played fuckin good, they had to lose because of the dimnit howard. What a waste of space between the bars. Giggs goal was super. It's a shame as in some point during the match I saw Chelsea's solid iron defense looked quite shaky. Cech denied you guys of a deserved victory, or at least OT.
A shame all in all.

loosing in the shitty carling cup to a team higher up in the league even tho it was an even game does not mean its the ened for anything.
spot on. we shouln't blow it up out of proportion. a couple of seasons ago we lost the league cup final to liverpool and still won the championship that year. its about 12 years since the club last saw the league cup as anything other than a oppurtunity to blood youngsters
A much more significant problem for us is the gap in the prem table and that is down to our early season form and the fact that we were playing people like djemba-djemba, Kleberson, O'Shea in midfield etc that just didn't deliver. People are definatley too short sighted. After Arsenals double season in 1998 they went three years without a trophy but that club stuck by their manager becuase they knew that replacing the famous Arsenal backline was a long term thing and mistakes were definatley made along the way, such as Stepanovs.
United are in a simlilar situation now. Do people really think that rebuilding and replacing one of the most effective midfields ever can just happen overnight? This could take a couple more years and peoples memories are way too short of they think two seasons without a league title is worth getting rid of the coaching/managing team for.
I was wondering that howard on the goal too.. Carrol has been quite clear choice on goal.. that was a bad mistake by Howard.. like Mark Lawrenson said "when the situation are 50-50 goalie have to decide that is he going to punch the ball away or try to catch it and Howard did the worst mistake he didn't do anything.."

I get your point.
I don't get why there are some united fans who are badmouthing the Carling Cup as 'shitty' when we did play mostly our 1st team with the exceptions of Howard and Fortune (who don't normally play in Premier league matches). Realistically, the Carling Cup and the FA Cup looked like the most likeliest competitions we would win this year especially seeing as Chelsea are 11 points ahead of us in the Premier league and the fact that we've got AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The fact is, we would have liked to have got to the final and of course, win. It might at the end of the season, have ended up being a consolation prize for us or something like last year with the FA Cup.
Anyway, if Chelsea decide to play the same team as last night in the final then, they will win the Carling Cup. Even though Liverpool have a great record in that competition. Just to verify, how many finals have Liverpool actually lost? I seriously can't remember them losing any League Cup final.
this just doesnt make sense, so let me get this straight, the carling cup is not shit, purely because Man United put out a strong side.
So, following that, if Man United put out a bunch of reserves against Milan, the Champions League would become shitty? no, of course not.
the carling cup, is and always will be shit until the reward for winning it is changed. geting into the uefa cup when your almost certainly going to qualify for the CL anyway makes it a bit shit in my opinion. Yes there's been some fantastic games including last nights, and oh how i would have liked to have seen us going to the final, but, at the end of the day
ITS STILL ONLY THE CARLING CUP. BOO.....HOO..... the only reason i was remotely annoyed when Liverpool beat us in the final was because it was them and nothing else.
Stoneman, you say you cant see where Uniteds next trophy is coming from, like you think its our right to get trophies and if we dont get loads EVERY season then its a big catastrophe and we should get rid of the manager or half the side. This would be the thinking of a United fan born into the glory of the 90's.
You seem to forget that we are still in the FA cup (just after exeter) and also the Champions League. "ooh but we'll never beat Milan, theyre well good" - im sorry, but please fuck off and support another club if you dont have the belief that United can overcome Milan. If they beat us heavily (i think not), so be it, but i think if you were in charge of Man United you'd probably concede the match already.
The Arsenal match winner could decide who is going out of the race. Now that Arsenal are leading United by a point, and behind by 11 points.
A draw wouldn't be favourable for either side I would imagine, unless Chelsea draw or lose.

West Bromwich Albion have secured the services of Manchester United's Kieran Richardson on loan until the end of the season.
The winger has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Old Trafford this term and will relish the prospect of regular football.
The 20-year-old has made just two substitute appearances for The Red Devils this season, but is likely to play a key role for Bryan Robson.
West Brom are currently bottom of The Premiership and will need an impressive second half of the season if they are to avoid the drop.
Richardson is keen to add to his game while at The Hawthorns after saying: "I'm definitely happy to go out on loan and get some experience.
"I also want to show what I can do because I believe I have a lot to offer West Brom."
This is from skysports.com
I think this is a great move for Richardson, and hopefully he can improve by getting a lot more first team action.

Giggs had a stormer.. as Did henize (well the last 80 anyway) Ronaldo played well, good to see he has found his finishing boots finally...
Rooney is a luck lucky man... very lucky.. i mean football players seem to get a away with a damn lot when it comes to the ref.. in Rugby Union Rooney would have been sent off straight away for telling the ref to "Fuck Off!" even on his first offence if it happened in the first 30 seconds
In saying that i feel that Silverstre can feel hard done by (in some senses) i mean Berkamp took a swipe at him with a pretty savage backhand.. and it wasnt the first time it happened.. but.. still he should not have headed butted.. he deserved red for that.. but it was provoked..
good game... prolly the best i have watched all season...

Yes, I too find it hard to believe that this thread is swarming with Man Utd fans. Absolutely shocking, ESPECIALLY being that it is "The Official Manchester United Thread". I think all those Stellas are clouding your mind, making you aggressive. Thats what chav drinks do to you I suppose though. Nevermind.
I have to say that was the best game I've seen all season, and United's best show (With the Boro one close second) in a while. The way they reacted to being a man down was awesome. John O'shea, is proving me wrong and I think he will make a fine centre midfielder. Two classy finishes in two games. The chip was sublime, especially seeing as it was his left foot. He brings a new meaning to ambidextrous.
Vieira had a stunning dive from the Rooney 'foul.' Really I think they are a bunch of hypocrites, calling Van Nistelrooy and United cheats. Bergcamp was lucky not to get a card in the Silvestre incident too. You could really see the Arsenal frustrations boiling over.

Don't forget Ashley Cole's dive in the first half, it was a carbon copy of Diouf the other week. And they accuse United of being cheats and divers!! Wenger can shut the hell up now!
As Andy Gray said, this defeat will arguably do more damage to Arsenal than the one at OT earlier.
Then, the game was very equally matched and we were fortunate with decisions, this time, we played them off the park.
I guess you could say this was a defining moment in Vieira's career, because no longer can he consider Keane his equal as a captain, a player, or a man.
Bring on Meelan.
Nice win for the Devils.
They probably didn't want to lose another record, the unbeaten home record which United holds at 33 and if Arsenal didn't lose they would have got 30 and going.

Even with diminshed athletiscm he is still the master. He has been an inspiration to the team - but howm much longer has he got in him ? Where can United find another player like that?
The performance and result last night sent out a clear message about what sort of state Manchester United are in. Chelsea will propably be be crowned as champions this season, and deservedly so becuase their quality and consistency has been amazing. However , United look in good fettle and Chelsea will not be having all their own way if they think Romans wallet will make them the dominant force from now on.
Hopefully we will have no more talk from the (glory hunting brigade ?) United fans of little faith who are talking about it being time for Ferguson to step down. This is preposterous. Chelsea have unlimited funds and a brilliant manager - if there is one guy in British football who can rise to that challenge it is SAF
On current form I am pretty confident about the CL fixture against Milan. They have been losing in the league lately and finding goals hard to come by. Rooney vs Stam should be fun

If we actually don't count the goals that were caused by the goalie's mistake, the score would be 1-0 to Man Utd.
I'm sure Arsenal and Man Utd are proud to have Wigan and Albacete players keeping their goals.
If we actually don't count the goals that were caused by the goalie's mistake, the score would be 1-0 to Man Utd.
What?
The only goal Almunia was at fault for was Ronaldo's.
If you were being picky, perhaps you could blame Carrol for being megged, but that shit happens to every keeper. It would be harsh to blame him for that, especially considering he had a pretty sound game.
This site is very quiet at the moment and people ignore some of the sore losers they cant blame anyone for this defeat apart from themselves the best team won and thats that. Ronaldo played brilliant-HUSH! to all the anti-ronaldo gang, forms temporary class is permanent. The double on arsenal is sweet but winning the title would be better. And keano the legend proves his quality on the pitch and off it.
Don't forget Ashley Cole's dive in the first half, it was a carbon copy of Diouf the other week. And they accuse United of being cheats and divers!! Wenger can shut the hell up now!
yep, and vieria's dive but you dont see that being made a big deal.dive was really bad.

Who is complaining about the defeat? I don't see any sore losers around here. This time round, you were the better team on the night, and deserved to win the game.
Ashley Cole and Vieira were wrong for diving, but they didn't receive any match-winning penalties, so obviously there isn't going to be as much hysteria surrounding it.
It's laughable to claim Keane is a legend off the pitch. Why is that? Because he comes out in the press pretending his looking for a fight? That would say more about the mindset of some Man U fans than anything else though

He wasn't looking for a fight, he was standing up for his team mates and being a captain, something which Viera wasn't doing by having a go at neville in the first place, Viera hitting Keane? I don't think i have seen Viera more scared in that tunnel.
fair point, my brother said when they were shaking hand ect viera was sweating like a fat lass in a chip shop, woud of been nice to see a scuffle though

Say what you want mate fact is 4-2 to manchester united if you read my post it stats SOME arsenal fans being sore losers, "hes a legend off the pitch" its ok for arsenal players to go round threatning other players but when someone stands up to them they get scared. There are some sore losers that are posting in the official manchester united thread saying man utd fans suddenly appearing etc etc so get you facts right before you reply to me.

Well know you know how it feels don't you...Rooney did exactly the same at Old Trafford...exept he got a Penalty! Which is even worse.

Its called trying to intimidate your opposition vieria tried it but didnt really work, also vierias like 6'4 why he starting on g.neville so keane the captain had to do something. How many people do you know who would confront vieria?

Fair enough, some would argue arsenal should of had a penalty pires incident. But remember vs chelsea man utd were not given 2 pens fouls on fortune, saha so it equalls itself out.

The fact is I know what the score was, I haven't been in a coma the past day.
You stating 'SOME' Arsenal fans makes no difference, I can't see any Arsenal fans being sore losers. For my money, it looks like we have all admitted we weren't good enough to win. I don't see how that equates to some of us being sore losers?
It's not ok for Arsenal players to go around threatening Man U players, that is why they recieved suspensions for their 'altercation' with van Nistelrooy. I can't remember many Man U fans being very happy about that, but now when the boot is on the other foot, and Keane is issuing warnings, threats, scaring Vieira or whatever you like to call it, he is a legend. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

Ok the majority have admitted they got beaten by the better team, keane didnt start on vieria first it was vieria who started on Neville so look at the difference in height/strenght keane had to step in it was unfair of vieria.Keane had to say something back.Im not being Hypocritical, cause the arsenal fans that i know were going yea yea, we scared ruud look at us pushing him etc and they were acting like keown, etc were topmans.

EDIT:just found this bit of news:
Rio capped again
Rio Ferdinand is getting stick from his Man Utd mates — for wearing a SHOWER CAP. The defender dons the granny-style headgear to keep his dreadlocks dry. The defender has become a laughing stock with his Old Trafford pals for refusing to let his barnet get wet in case it goes all frizzy and messed up.

Patrick Vieira taunted Gary Neville as he branded him a hacker in the Highbury tunnel. Arsenal’s captain targeted the Manchester United star following the warm-up before Tuesday night’s stormy showdown. It was the clash which eventually led to war between Vieira and Roy Keane. Vieira said: “Let’s see if you are going to kick everyone at Highbury tonight like you did at Old Trafford.” There was another tunnel confrontation featuring Vieira and Neville just before kick-off. That is when Keane reacted.
Neil Custis, The Sun
Don't shoot your f*****g mouth off
Patrick Vieira almost caused a tunnel punch-up when he stuck his forehead right in Gary Neville’s face. And the confrontation so angered Roy Keane that Manchester United's captain warned the Frenchman: "Don't shoot your f*****g mouth off." Arsenal’s skipper had already chased Neville down the Highbury tunnel after the pre-match warm-up to have a go at him. Then, as both teams emerged from their dressing rooms, Vieira went straight up to the Manchester United full-back, stared at him and put his forehead within inches of his rival’s. Vieira said to Neville: “Are you going to kick us again?” The incident ignited an already angry Roy Keane, who had heard about his team-mate being intimidated earlier. United’s captain went straight for the Frenchman and rapped: “Pick on someone your own size. Are you going to have a go at me then?”

What a fight would it have been Vieira against Keane. Have you looked at the eyes of Keane? What a concentration before the match. And watch Rooney, he's like a child who's watching the old guys, he was probably thinking "don't fight please?" ;)
I think Rooney is a guy with a great mound but with a little heart. But congretulations for the Man Utd fans. It was a beautiful match and a beautiful goal from O'shea who i have seen playing for Antwerp couple of years ago. He has made an unbelievable progress.
By the way, just one more question as this the Man Utd thread. Does anyone know where Wallwork plays now? He also has played for Antwerp on loan a couple years ago but became famous when he kicked a referee in the tunnel. He was suspensed for 2 years. Just asking where he's playing now?

it was a quality match which brought out the best of football...nowadays its a non-contact sport and it was good to finally have a contact match...

it was easily the best match of the season with the other match between the two at Old Trafford second.
It was a fantastic match, and an advert for British football.

Forlan takes a blast at Fergie:
Fergie's Forl guy
Manchester United reject Diego Forlan yesterday blasted former boss Sir Alex Ferguson for not backing him. Uruguayan striker Forlan has been impressive for Spanish side Villarreal this season, with 13 goals already. But the 25-year-old insists he will never return to the Premiership. He said: "Ferguson did not rate me as much as his other strikers. He didn't give me enough time to become a success at Manchester United - he lacked patience. I got tired of being a substitute for van Nistelrooy. The manager only had eyes for the Dutchman." Forlan added that United's latest crop of strikers were not a big improvement. "I don't consider myself to be a worse player than Alan Smith or Saha, for example," he said.
I can hardly believe, just like most of the Red Devils, that Forlan is one of La Liga's top scorers, but his statement doesn't make as much sense as his performances for Villareal.
Especially this part:
"He (Fergie) didn't give me enough time to become a success at Manchester United." :D
i never thought Forlan would say something like that...but he still is a great guy.
i am happy now that hes finally doing well for himself at a club...
GO FORLAN !!!! :D

Real never go for Asian players.
Perhaps you're talking about Arsenal when they bought Inamoto or Everton when they got Li Tie. And a few more Asians have made their way into the Premiership.
What Los Galacticos is trying to say is that when Real bought Beckham, they only bought him so they could crack the asian market. Beckham is very popular over there - thats why they bought him. We've done exactly the same by signing Dong Fanzhou.
Oh I see. It's because of the trip they made to Asia, if they hadn't had Beckham maybe the crowd would be halved.
Has Dong Fangzhou really contributed anything to United's shirt-selling?? I don't think many Asians are buying shirts with his name on it even up to now.
real madrid is a spanish team and they can't waste their space for foreign talents in asia , cuz lets face it asian football is just not good enough , even though i come from asia

Nakata is about as good as you are going to get in Asian football mate...it is just not up to scratch..
United bought Dong Fangzhou as well for about £600,000 which even though it doesnt seem like much is crap for a player of such a low standard.
being a newbie, i dont wanna sound like an inexperianced idiot...
but i saw Dong Fangzhou play in some highlights broadcast by Sky Sports and he did look pretty promising, though i agree he probably wont be good enough for Uniteds first team.
