I wouldn't mind Hargreaves but only if he comes for less than 12 million pounds which is nearly impossible. I'd prefer someone younger, like Iniesta(IF, IF Barca lets him go). I saw on the official Manchester United website that we are interested in signing Steve Sidwell on a free, is he any good? I've rarely seen him play, but from what I've seen of him he is alright.

I hope we snap Owen up, although as he's English we'd have to sell Ronaldo to be able to afford him.

I'd much prefer Chelsea to sign him :w00t
I read in one paper this morning we were after Nani with a...£17.5m bid. And in another we're after Eto'o for 27m. I wonder who'll be after tomorrow.
EDIT:
Sporting Lisbon starlet Nani wants to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps and join Manchester United.
Nani, who has been likened to United star Ronaldo, will snub interest from clubs across Europe in order to achieve his dream move to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of the 20-year-old and is thought to be ready to trigger a £17.5million clause in Nani's contract.
Nani came through the same youth system as Ronaldo at Sporting and wants to join his friend in the Premiership.
The Portuguese youngster is determined to make the move to United and has snubbed the opportunity to sign for Atletico Madrid.
"I'll only leave Portugal to play for a club like United," Nani told the Daily Mirror.
"The Premiership is spectacular and to be the next Cristiano would be a dream."
Would be too cool if we get Nani and get rid of Richardson some way or the other.

Bayern Munich are set to upset Valencia by joining the race for Ajax's highly-talented midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
The 22-year-old Dutch international has recently fuelled speculation that he could be on his way to the Mestalla this summer.
But German daily Bild claims that Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has identified Sneijder as the ideal candidate to fill the midfield void left by Michael Ballack's move to Chelsea.
The German giants have endured a nightmare season having missed out on a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.
And the club are determined to spend big in the summer transfer window in order to provide Hitzfeld with a squad capable of challenging for the Bundesliga title again.
Sneijder has made no secret of his desire to move to Valencia over Bayern.
However, according to reports in Germany, Ajax have rejected a €12million (£8.1million) bid from the Spaniards as Bayern have offered €14million (£9.5million) for the midfield general.

420 million, but close enough ;)
Aren't most of the shirts in China fakes? I doubt the Chinese fans would all be purchasing them from sports shops for the equivalent of £40, though I agree that it's more than likely that merchandise profit helped Alex Ferguson decide on the signing/contract.
I've never been a great fan of Sneijder. He has a fantastic shot on him, but feel a lot of top teams would struggle to accomodate him.

Florent Malouda has conceded he has held discussions with Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas with regards his future at Stade Gerland.
The talented France international is thought to be high on the wish-list of some of Europe's finest, with reports from France having intimated both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen, along with UEFA Champions League finalists Milan.
Malouda, who has made no secret of his desire to experience a fresh challenge, has revealed that he has had contact with a number of interested parties.
He is, though, loath to disclose too many details - instead, preferring to direct enquires in the direction of his paymaster Aulas.
"I wanted to tell directly the chairman the contacts I've had for some time," Malouda told L'Equipe.
"We should meet again soon. Actually, Mr Aulas is now waiting for the attracted clubs to show their interest.
"But don’t rely on me to tell you any names, or the sum of a possible transfer as I don’t know it.
"I didn’t want to have any guarantees for next season at Lyon. The talk was only about my personal case."
Malouda has long been linked with an exit from the French champions and well aware that such opportunities may not present themselves again, it is with a determination that he looks to pastures new.
"Some propositions or opportunities won’t necessarily happen again," he concluded. "So they have to be studied carefully.
"I want things to happen the best way. If I were to quit Lyon it would only be to go higher, so abroad.
"Of course, it's with the willing to make a name for myself and I'll prepare the best way for that."
Depending on the price, would be a good coup. More likely destination of Milan though.

What about Vidic?
Vidic did very well to contain Drogba and win many headers against him which very few defenders do.
Rooney had a good game aswell in my opinion despite playing upfront on his own, he made good runs with the ball and deserved a goal.

Thats why you need to replace Ruud
Because fair enough you have been amazing this season with goals comming from midfield.
BUT when shit hits the fan like today see you need an out and out goal soccer, and its not Rooney, Saha or Ole... In all honesty besides that one lil Giggs chance you never looked like scoring.

well, I didn't watch that match. I only listened it on a radio. I guess I wasn't concentrating much on our defence
as for Rooney, I remember he almost scored, but saved by Cech and Giggs follow-up was a foul
also I think Ronaldo shouldn't be our free kick taker. How many times has he scored from there? Most of it either hit the wall or off target
Vidic, Scholes, Brown and Rooney played well.
The commentator's did piss me off even more. They couldn't stop moaning about the game. It was a bad first half but I thought the second half was reasonable.
Giggs had a great chance to make it 1-0 and didn't take it. Obviously Essien was putting him off but I felt that Giggs could of gotten on to that ball a bit better.

Last season against Chelsea when he got the goal to end Chelsea's unbeaten run, he played well there. Also, against Southampton two years ago, he played well there. He has some dodgy patches and his consistency isn't the greatest but I think he deserved to start today.

words fail me...giggs should of put that chance away
Chelsea, the last winners at the Old Wembley, became the first winners at the new Wembley when Didier Drogba scored an extra time winner to sink Manchester United and give Jose Mourinho his second trophy this season. But it was a goal which hardly fitted the game played on a heavy clinging pitch, it never reached the heights everyone hoped for, only exploding into life in the last few minutes.
It was truly a dreadful first half with neither side prepared to take any chances and although it improved slightly in the second period it was only because Manchester United tried to push forward and took the game to Chelsea. Penalties looked a certainty until the 25th minute of extra time when Frank Lampard found Drogba with a perfect pass and Drogba lifted the ball over the diving body of Van der Sar for his 33rd goal of the season. Until then it looked though the hero might be Wayne Rooney who, after a first half as bad as everyone else, suddenly exploded into action with a series of runs from deep as United looked for their fourth Premiership and FA Cup double.
But in the end, United had only themselves to blame with skipper Ryan Giggs missing two chances while Petr Cech saved brilliantly from the rampant Rooney and, later pludged to his feet after an Essien error. United's complaint was that they may have been robbed of a goal in injury time when the television showed that Cech had dragged the ball over the line under a challenge from Giggs. Chelsea argued it was a Giggs foul but he, in turn, had justification in believing he was fouled from behind by Essien as he chased Rooney's sublime cross. At least it gave everyone something to talk about for that, the goal and the new stadium were the highlights rather than the game we were all hoping was going to be the game of the season with the two best teams involved.

Owen Hargreaves' deal is done according to a report. Price tag to be worth £17million which leaves us with £33million. If we go for Eto'o now then i guess we aren't left with much, most probably nothing.
England midfielder Owen Hargreaves is set to complete a move to Manchester United after Bayern Munich agreed a deal, according to reports in Germany.
Hargreaves' protracted move to the Barclays Premiership champions, who lost the FA Cup final 1-0 to Chelsea at Wembley, has been agreed according to a report on the website of German magazine Spiegel.
The deal, believed to be worth £17million (25 million euros) which would be a club record for the Bavarian team, will go through once Hargreaves signs a four-year contract, it has been reported.
The Canadian-born England international refused to comment on the report when question following the conclusion of the German Bundesliga season.
Hargreaves missed Bayern Munich's 5-2 win over Energie Cottbus because of a knee injury, so it looks like he has already played his last game for the club after 10 years.
The midfielder was spotted by Bayern scouts while playing for the Calgary Foothills and he made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 19.
He has played a total of 145 league games and featured as Bayern won the Champions League in 2001.

Club president Franz Beckenbauer told German TV: "Owen is leaving. That was the player's wish. It's a good match and it's also a good deal financially."
Beckenbauer would not confirm the transfer fee but when asked if it was £17m, he said it was "in that range".

His strength has never been in doubt, but I was impressed with how easily Wayne Rooney outmuscled Michael Essien (particularly) and John Terry on more than a few occasions yesterday. He was the only player that was trying to make the final an entertaining spectacle, so it's a shame he didn't get a winners medal.
Naive decision to use a 4-5-1 formation. If Rooney had some support from Smith or Solskjaer, I believe the game would have had a different outcome. Fergie did the same against us and came outstuck, and when I saw the team yesterday, it was obvious the job in hand was going to be difficult.

There isn't really much doubt Hargreaves can do a job, but £17m is extortionate. It's obvious that he isn't going to be 'just' a squad member otherwise we wouldn't have spent so much. I can't see how Hargreaves would fit into our 4-4-2 system. Carrick and Scholes work great in tandem, I honestly don't think Hargreaves can somehow fit into this mould unless Fergie opts for 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 which wouldn't really benefit anyone. I'm not going to barate or moan of Hargreaves because he's done nothing wrong, therefore I'll obviously back him. However what I don't understand is why we need him.
The only way I can see Hargreaves fitting in is when Scholes has retired. Carrick could move into the Scholes role with Hargreaves moving into the more defensive centre midfield position. Ferguson must have something in mind though as he always makes it work such as with the Carrick transfer which most thought was weird and extortionate.

Michael Carrick is happy Owen Hargreaves is close to completing a move to Manchester United.
Bayern Munich have confirmed the midfielder will be allowed to leave the club in the summer after accepting a £17million bid.
Hargreaves is expected to join Premiership champions United and reports claim only a medical is holding up completion of the deal.
His impending arrival at Old Trafford will end a lengthy chase for Sir Alex Ferguson, who tried to sign the England international after last summer's World Cup.
He will add bite to the United midfield and Carrick expects his international colleague to enhance the competition for places.
Though Carrick's own position in the side will be under threat by the acquisition of Hargreaves, he is looking forward to the Canadian-born battler's arrival.
"We are at the biggest club in the world and we want the best players," said Carrick.
"World-class players are going to strengthen you and Owen is a top player.
"We need a big squad. That has been proved this season when you are fighting on all fronts."
I laughed when Carrick considered Hargreaves a 'world-class' midfielder.

That is if we do indeed buy a top-class striker. It won't really work otherwise, and since it seems 100% now we can only assume Fergie has pretty much agreed a deal for a striker too. Fergie isn't that stupid to not buy a striker and leave ourselves with a retarded formation. It just seems all odd though, we need to be told as fans about the direction he wishes to go. It's highly frustrating spending huge sums of money and having doubts in your mind about whether it will even work, not just the quality of the player but whether he'll fit into the system.
If that didn't make much sense, it is because I'm brainwashed by revision and rather flustered.

If we signed both Lahm and Schweinsteiger I would be unbelievably delighted, both of them are young and already one of the best in the world in their respective positions. The problem would be cost as Bayern wanted £17m for Hargreaves so I could see Lahm being around £12m-£15m and Schweinsteiger £20m+. To be honest if we signed both of them for that I would be quite happy as apparantly we have £50m to spend and as long as we would have enough left for a striker they would be worth it.

I don't think Henize will leave during the summer, he didn't play very much in the first half of the season yet decided not to leave. Since then he has had a good run in the team and getting picked ahead of Evra for the F.A Cup final should give him some confidence. I have heard reports that Juventus are after him but I hope he stays with us as his versatility is a good asset to have. (Even if he has been shocking at centre back this season.)
On the matter of keeping Ronaldo happy, Carlos Quizeroz is good friends with Ronaldo's mother and has helped Ronaldo's progression in the past few years. If you believe that Quizeroz is going to be the next manager after Ferguson then his relationship with Ronaldo certainly won't hurt his chances of staying. To be honest I can't see Ronaldo staying with us for the whole of his career but I think he will stay for at least most of it, I think he will want to try his hand in La Liga before he retires.

Even I thought that Fergie was trying to get Bale to groom him into a left sided midfielder( I woudn't mind him coming then, keeping the Welsh on the left side), and concerning Silvestre, I don't mind him leaving because we've got Brown, O'Shea, Pique, Heinze, Ferdinand, Vidic and Gary Neville which are enough defenders.( I think I've missed another defender)

We don't really play in a 4-4-2 with a proper left midfielder, we play well with rooney and ronaldo playing wide off a front man and we will hopefully invest in a better quality (and less injury-prone) striker than Saha. I'd personally say Heinze he seems more suited to the english game, although Evra going forward gives you options. Both 2 left backs I'd take at Barça.
Heinze is getting worse and worse as the season's go by but I think he can turn it around and if they are both at their best I would have Heinze. Evra has had a very good season and gives us a more direct route down the left when he is playing. Heinze also gives that option of playing at centre back if needed, hopefully both of them will be playing for us for a while yet.
Bale would be a good signing for me as I could see him being turned into a very good left winger as he gets older. He has a killer cross and set piece and although he is solid defensively he isn't the best.

Top Gun, bale could be a good signing, but with the way we play at the moment, I don't see how he will get the chance to be moulded into a left midfielder, unless he is moulded into a left winger/forward. Otherwise he won't get many games for a while, especially with hargreaves on his way (hargreaves, carrick and scholes all playing first team).
What do you think will happen with our loaned out players next season? Will Rossi break into the first team proper? Pique or Evans get in somewhere? Foster new number 1 over edwin? I have been disappointed with Rossi when he's played first team so far, but I suppose it's too early to judge him as he's only made about 14 apps.

True about Bale, it is looking like we might be going to a 4-3-3 formation next season. I'm not sure Bale could cut it as a left winger as he hasn't got the pace which is needed. If Bale comes in as a left back it could see Heinze leaving.
On the loan situation, I'm not sure about Rossi, it could either be his season to stay and prove whether he cuts it or he could have one more season out on loan before he comes back. He has been doing pretty well for Parma and has a record of 9 goals in 17/18 games.
From what I have heard Evans and Pique have both had very good season for their clubs. I'm sure Evans will go out on loan again hopefully to Sunderland and I think Pique will go on loan again hopefully to a Premiership team so he can get used to the English game.
I don't think Foster will take over from Van Der Saar just yet but I expect to see him play in the F.A Cup, Carling Cup and probably a few Champions League games next season.

Rumours linking Spurs and Nani are hotting up, and Nani has publicly stated he wants to go to the Prem now. According to one paper, Spurs have made a 12m bid but I doubt they'll get him for that if his buy-out clause is 17.5m.
I just hope Fergie isn't a plonker and lets Spurs beat us to signing him.

Nani didn't even sign a new contract, he turned it down. There's no buyout clause.
The guy wants to play in the Premiership, and he wants to play alongside his pal Ronaldo, and I really wish we would stop fucking around and buy him before we lose him to Spurs. I'm really fed up of us losing our potential signings to other clubs, just because we spend too long trying to finalise everything.
That said, I haven't seen any indication that we actually WANT him.

is this Hargreaves transfer an almost done deal or it's just rumour saying he'll sign for us?
almost done...hes done with the medical...might be unveiled on tues or wed...its on the official website
I bet most people in here haven't even seen Nani play, and yet are literally drooling over the prospect of signing him. I myself haven't seen him, but I fail to see how spending at least £10m on a winger would benefit our team. We've signed Hargreaves, which means we're almost certain to adopt a 4-3-3 formation next season providing we buy another centre forward, being Huntelaar. Otherwise Hargreaves's signing has no meaning, other than to warm the bench and we definetely haven't payed £17m for that, nor with Carrick. Therefore with 3 up front, it would be out of these Ronaldo, Huntelaar, Rooney, Giggs. We don't need to spend £10m+ on Nani. Yes, he maybe a hot property right now, and if bought it would only be to sweeten up Ronaldo and keep the other Premier League clubs off him. Unless we continue to play 4-4-2 next season and consistantly drop Carrick or Hargreaves each game.

I heard it's Justin Timberlake. Apparently Rooney went to one of his concerts in Machester and Justin started singing we've won it 5 times. My mate told me so it might not be true but I wouldn't be surprised :erm:
EDIT: Hunter, totally agree. My Spurs fan mate was boasting about how they're getting him, and I was just saying, like Bale, we don't need him and I'd much rather we tried signing a Centre forward, preferably someone like Torres or Huntelaar. One player who I'd have in my team no matter who we had in his position would be Messi. If we ever signed him I think I'd stay awake all year thinking about how awesome he is.

What? You damn drunk!
We'll probably let Spurs get Nani, like we did Bale, a way of sweetening them up to let Dimitar to come to OT ;)
Who is this Nani guy? I've never even seen him play. Although I had never seen Cristiano play before he joined and he turned out alright. I think that £20m is too much of a risk for a young guy who hasn't really proved much, once again though Cristiano was bought for £12m and he was pretty unproven. I trust Ferguson but I think that £20m is just too much.
I hope that we do sign a striker over the summer period, I think the best option would be Darren Bent. Eto'o would cost 3 or 4 times more than him and he won't score more goals than Bent who scored 20+ in a second rate Charlton team. Also Huntelaar, he would be ahead of Eto'o but I would still take Bent over him as he has proved that he can do well in the Premiership.
In midfield I would of liked to of seen Sneijder come in but it appears that he is on his way to Valencia now so it doesn't seem likely. Hargreaves looks like a done deal with him being at the training ground today and there is no doubt he will do a good job but the price is extortionate. We still need another left winger as Richardson has still not proved he can replace Giggs, not that anybody will be able to.

What you say is true but Bent has no european experience and we need a striker who will score regularly in the Champions League like RVN did, Huntelaar and Eto'o would. I personally prefer Huntelaar as he would be cheap and is the type of striker who can get the job done.

Good point, I think that Bent could score goals in the Champions League if given the choice. If we don't sign Bent then Huntelaar would be my second choice for the reasons you said. The way Bent plays would benefit Rooney aswell I think as he likes to run the channels which would create a lot of space for Rooney and Scholes to play in. Once Alan Smith is fully fit I think he will be good enough to play in the starting eleven but we still need another striker as Saha looks to be going and Solskjaer is getting old.

Ronaldo's finishing can still be poor at times even now but i guess he'll improve even more as he's still only 22.
Apparantly Giggs is going to announce his retirement from international football today. Very good news as international football will take it's toll now that he is getting on. This could mean an extra season or two out of him, Scholes retired quite early and it worked wonders for him. It's not like Wales are going to qualify for a major tournament anyway.

Manchester United are in an advance stage of negotiations with Nani. According to SSN.
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Porto ace Anderson.
The Brazilian midfielder is regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe and has been widely dubbed 'the new Ronaldinho'.
Anderson has enjoyed a successful season with Porto helping them win the Portuguese championship this season.
The 18-year-old has attracted the interest of a host of clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona, but United have stolen a march on their rivals by luring him to Old Trafford.
United have agreed an undisclosed fee with Porto for the exciting midfielder and he is due to have a medical at the club in the near future.
A United statement read: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms in principle with FC Porto for the purchase of the registration of Anderson.
Personal terms have been agreed and a formal announcement will take place once the necessary administrative procedures, including a medical have been completed.
Should Anderson tie up the minor details of the move he will become United's first signing of the summer.
 I personally prefer him to Nani as I have seen him play a bit, should also be a bit cheaper.

Anderson, who joined Porto in December 2005 from Gremio, played against United in a pre-season friendly in August last year at the Amsterdam Tournament.

I can't really see any problems with these 2 signings even if we've already got players in there positions, Utd's 1st team is one of the best but when we get injuries we usually suffer. If you look at the options Chelsea have compared to utd then theres no reason not to have more options..

I see, well that means Richardson future at Utd is over. If they were brought in to play on the wings then Giggs' position in the side is under threat.
What worries me is that I don't have a clue what formation SAF is planning to use next season.
