Brazil v Mexico 27/6/07
Brazil v Chile 1/7/07
Brazil v Ecuador 4/7/07
Tournament finishes 15th July, so if Brazil get to the final, it's likely Anderson will be presented some time shortly after that date but I doubt he'll be going on our pre-season tour of the far east

Yeah Anderson looked quality last night. Definitely looks like he has what it takes.
Gudjohnson will only have a few years in him, and as for Torres, well he's good but he's not worth the price tag. Therefore I think the best buy at the moment, would be Huntelaar, who's a natural scorer, and cheaper than Torres.

Man Utd face Anderson permit wait
Anderson may have to wait before moving to Old Trafford
Manchester United's new Brazilian signing Anderson is facing work permit problems and may have to wait a year before he can play for the club.
United agreed a deal with Porto in early June to sign the 19-year-old.
But Anderson does not have enough caps for Brazil to satisfy Home Office rules and his first application was refused.
United lodged an appeal on Thursday - with a verdict expected within 48 hours - but if that fails they cannot reapply until next year.
Anderson needs to have played in 75% of Brazil's international fixtures in the previous two years to meet Home Office criteria.
The Premier League champion's solicitor, Maurice Watkins, asked the six-man panel to consider Anderson as a special case.
Anderson has described the proposed move to Old Trafford as "a dream come true".
He said: "I cannot wait to play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a great player, as well as Wayne Rooney and many more."
His move to United was announced at the same time as Sporting Lisbon youngster Nani, who as a Portuguese citizen has no work permit problems.

And Meecrob, that kit looks nice actually. I'll be sure to invest in it sooner rather then Later. I'll probably opt to having either Nani or Anderson on the Back .

There are better players to get, but Smith is so ineffective for us, it would be like getting Owen for £4mil, which is a steal!
There are better players to get, but Smith is so ineffective for us, it would be like getting Owen for £4mil, which is a steal!
No, I wouldn't go as far as calling Smith ineffective.
Alan Smith is a good all-round player, who can, as you know, play in midfield aswell. He's very handy, and can also score goals. Based on this Season performances from him, he hasn't been as effective as beforehand. If we had to sell a Striker I too, would wan't Alan to go as I feel Saha would be a handy Player to have when he's gotten over his Injury proneness ( Which could be never, to tell the truth ).
Yes, Owen would be a steal for £4m, but he's just as injury prone as Saha I would say. If Saha stayed fit and played, he would score 20+ goals a Season. Same with Owen, but I to be honest with you, cannot see either of them staying fit a whole Season anytime soon. I would much rather have Eidur Gudjohnson or Carlos Tevez with the Team. Gudjohnson is a good Player, he can score goals and hardly ever put's in a real bad performance. Tevez, well, he was World Class when he adapted to the English Footballing Style with The Hammers, and he would be the best choice out of the three now.
Now, to another Player we have been strongly linked with; Jermain Defoe. Defoe really didn't get that much of a chance to prove that he is one of the best strikers in the Premiership at Spurs. He would be a good signing aswell, as I think that he can get the job done. He has a great shot on him, and is also very quick and can beat defenders. He could be a hit or a miss, though. But I'm thinking more of that he would be a hit at Old Trafford.
From those kits which are posted the blue keeper kit looks the nicest, reminds me of the one we had a few seasons back.
On the striker front this is the order I would take them in,
Tevez
Huntelaar
Owen
Torres
Defoe
Gudjohnson

Not to mention Solksjaer. Most of Owen's injuries seem to be freak one's like the one he got in the World Cup. At Newcastle there was some myth about the pitch as loads of players were getting hamstring injuries so maybe that explains some of his injuries.

Just got a letter through the door today stating I can get a ST if wanted, seems the 10 year waiting list is all bollocks after all. I didn't apply that long ago, must be true as well, about 8,000 ST holders declining the renewal as they seem to be clutching at straws to drag people through the gates.
To be honest, if you're a member with a membership number (obviously) you'll be able to just ring up and ask for a ST. All you'll need to do is say you've got your Credit Card in front of you and you're prepared to buy and they'll probably bite your hand off. Was reading Red Cafe earlier, and apparently people have just been scamming the ST's, saying they received this ST letter when they actually haven't. You need some proof to back your claim but if anyone wants the proof, I'm sure I can be of service since I won't be getting one anytime soon. The cheapest now is £570 but that's pretty much automatically doubled to about £1000 if you include the conning Cup Scheme, whereby you're given tickets and charged whether you want to go or not.
Anywho, ring up, and get a ST (if you're rich).

Manchester United have completed the triple signing of Nani, Anderson and Tomasz Kuszczak.
Both Nani and Anderson have signed five-year-deals with the Barclays Premier League champions, joining from Sporting Lisbon and Porto respectively.
The permanent transfer of Polish goalkeeper Kuszczak comes after the completion of a loan season from West Bromwich Albion last term.
Nani, Anderson and fellow new arrival Owen Hargreaves will be officially unveiled to the press in the near future.
Meanwhile, Academy scholars James Chester, Richard Eckersley and Sam Hewson have signed professional forms with United, as has Academy student Tom Cleverley.

£1000 for a ST? That is a lot cheaper than what you can get at the Emirates stadium.
Doesn't mean it's cheap, it's a pure scam to be fair, and it's quite ridiculous. We didn't sell out quite a few matches last year, and now to increase the pricing and implementing such cons as the Home Cup Ticket Scheme is not only a disgrace, it's an embarrassment to football. Having to pay for cup matches automatically whether you can even go or not is pathetic. I also read yestersay that the season before Glazer arrived, 0.5% of ST holders didn't renew. Whereas that figure now stands at 14%, with around 8,000 fans reportedly not renewing due to several reasons.
If they don't lower the prices and remove the gay Cup scheme, then I'm afraid Old Trafford will barely see a sell out stadium. Something must have gone drastically wrong if the Champions are having fans spit their tickets back at the club.

Every club in the Championship has a few loanees though, and if they were Man Utd youngsters, chances are they'd be good. And if like Birmingham, we were to go up, then we would have the money to buy new ones anyway.

Is this for real??
I'd rather have Huntelaar I think. We all know Tevez is an excellent player, but he's not the out-and-out striker that United are craving at the moment. I'm not sure whether he can get the 20+ Premier League goals we need, or whether he's just a 15 goal man. I guess it's all about teamwork though, and if he can link up with everyone else then he can be capable of it. He has the skill to do amazing things, so maybe he has the skill to turn himself into an out-and-out striker. Let us hope so.

We have Solskjaer who's out-and-out, but we all know he'll last another season before he either gets injured again or leaves to join Sunderland with Keano. Shame, but his time has gone and past. Saha can bag goals but has legs as durable as balsa wood broomsticks, whilst no one really knows what position Alan Smith even plays. Rooney is a SS as you've said, Rossi is likely to be sold however I'd like to see him get a run here and Dong Fangzhou was purely bought for marketing schemes.

If I could sex you via the computer I would now be doing so. How is it that some of your fans, not necessarily anyone on here, are too blind to see that you don't have the type of striker your club should?
P.S. You can have Kanu for 18m if you'd like?
Tevez can play as an "out and out striker". He is good with his back to goal and finishes well, he could be a good partner for Rooney. A team like Man Utd don't need a 20 goal striker anyway, they have goalscorers all over the pitch.
So much for "I'll decide my future after the Copa".

No he can't, it's been tried, fairly unsuccessfully. I would find examples but quite frankly I'm too lazy. Though I do agree with Man Utd having goal scorers all over the pitch I pose this to you: Goal scorers all over the pitch, or goal scorers all over the pitch + a 20 goal a season man?

He was often the main striker for Boca and always the main striker for Corinnthians so I think its not laziness that is the cause of your inability to find examples. My point about this 20 goal a season striker is that to a team like Man Utd its not of primary importance as it would be to a team who dont have as much attacking quality throughout thier team. Chelsea won the league twice without that a 20 goal striker and Man Utd done the same this year.

I think these days teams are moving past the stage of having 20 goal a season strikers. It's much more about the team now as demonstrated by Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U. Sure, you need someone to put them in but we have guys from all over the pitch. Tevez would link in nicely to last seasons style of football. Someone like Ruud wouldn't... which is why he was sold and why we won the league. Why would we want to go back to 3 premiershipless seasons?

You could use Arsenal's 2003/04 season for your argument.
Henry got 30 league goals, but they still had many other goal scorers around the pitch. Not only did they win the league comfortably, but they went on to be unbeaten.
I guess that is what happens when you have a 20+ hitman and still have many other goal scorers all over the pitch. Let us hope this does not happen for Man Untied.
I'm guessing the almost full report card in the 2005 season means nothing then?
My mistake Nilmar's injury must have been last season. Tevez did play as a striker, not a second striker at Corinthians that cannot be denied. Nilmar floats into wide areas when he plays, Tevez was the main reference point through the middle.

Obviously any team would want a 20+ goal striker. My point is that it is not of great necessity when you have goalscorers throught your team. So when people said Man Utd NEED a 20+ goal striker I was trying to point out they didn't.

Tevez is probably not the best choice but with his talent it would be hard not to go for him. Under Curbishley he had a record of 1 goal every 1.6 games or something close to that, so we know he can score goals. If Rooney had a poor season like so many people say then he should get more than the 16 which he got this year and move to over 20. Ronaldo will always get a good few. Giggs, Scholes and maybe Anderson should chip in. I think he will be a great addition.

Tevez would be a great addition to the squad. I won't believe he's joining until I see him paraded on the Old Trafford pitch in a United shirt. The dodgy stuff with agents/third parties leaves the transfer liable to fall through at any given moment.
Well, Tevez is a good one..
Tevez would be a good signing, but I agree with Theo and Hunter when they say that he isn't the "in and out" striker we are really needing.
I would of much rather had United going for Luca Toni, not just because I'm a fan of Luca, but because he pops up and score's plenty. Yes, I do know that he now plays his Football at Bayern Munich, btw. Tevez will be great though, but I'm sure he won't score more then what, 15/16 goals a season, yet anyways. He will get involved in the creative way that we play, and I think that he will give plenty of assist's. I'm sure he will be great for us, but I would prefer a more goalscoring type of forward, like Toni or Huntelaar. Although to be fair with Tevez, he scored a lot of goals at the end of the Season and was only at the Hammer's since January.

If we have Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo scoring 15+ goals a season, with Scholes, Anderson and Nani scoring plenty too, along with Saha, Ole, Giggs, Carrick, Hargreaves chipping in and anyone else, do we really need an out and out goalscorer? I don't think so. We had one in Ruud, and he didn't make us any better (great as he is), it just meant that we had to play to his strengths. We have enough firepower in the team.
It's easy to jump on the 'out and out 20+ a season' bandwagon. That's what we had with Ruud, and it worked for a while. But United's gameplay is evolving. SAF is trying to build a team of intelligent attacking players that can interchange seamlessly. People like Ronaldo who at some stages of the game will be playing up front, drifting out left, then right etc.
Tevez fits into this perfectly. He and Rooney have great off the ball movement, and yes they can both play SS roles (I've stated my worry about them playing together before). But now I think they'd work really well, playing off each other. How hard would it be for defenders to mark them, not knowing who's going to drop off or drift wide etc? They're intelligent enough to find the space and know when to play off the last man or drop off, depending on where the other player is. I think we're moving past the 'one drops off and one poaches/gets on the end of everything route.' For a player who had a 'bad season' Rooney's 16 goals is a good return. Just think what he could get with Tevez as his partner.
Just don't knock it until/if you see it, I think they could work well and prove a nightmare for defenders. The only thing I worry about is headers, not much height in there between them.

West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson insists Carlos Tevez cannot leave without the consent of the club.
Widespread reports claim Manchester United are close to signing Tevez on a two-year loan deal, with the Argentina striker likely to seal a move to Old Trafford in the next 24 hours.
However, West Ham have now moved to play down the possibility of the 23-year-old leaving Upton Park this summer by stating he still has three years to run on his contract.
Magnusson fully expects Tevez, who is currently on international duty playing in the Copa America, to return to West Ham ahead of next season.
"Carlos Tevez is a registered West Ham United player, contracted to the club until June 2010," he said in a statement on the club's official website.
"There is no agreement with West Ham United for Carlos Tevez to leave the club and we expect him to return in time for next season's preparations.
"No decision on his future can be reached without the agreement of West Ham United."
Any deal which takes Tevez to Manchester United will be under scrutiny from the Premier League and they will likely back West Ham in their stance.

United striker Dong Fangzhuo is tipped to feature in China's starting XI for the team's opening Asian Cup match on Monday.
China, who were losing finalists in 2004 but have since slumped to 76 in the FIFA world rankings, kick off their campaign against co-hosts Malaysia at the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on 9 July (kick-off 13:35 BST).
Fangzhuo is one of five forwards selected by coach Zhu Guanghu and joins fellow England-based players Li Tie (Sheffield United) and Sun Jihai (Manchester City) in the side. Midfielder Zheng Zhi, who played on loan for Charlton last season, will captain the team.
Fangzhuo has scored just once for China at senior level, against Switzerland in June 2006, but some Asian media outlets predict the United frontman could be "the one to watch" this month.
China face an uphill battle to reach the tournament's knockout phase. As well as co-hosts Malaysia, they occupy Group C with 2006 World Cup qualifiers Iran and emerging force Uzbekistan.
"They are going crazy during training," China coach Zhu Guanghu said of his players.
"They are shouting and screaming at each other and trying to encourage each other. It's amazing."

These are all reasons why we do actually need a striker with size, good strength on the ball to go alongside a good scoring touch up front. Our team currently has no striker who could really battle it out with the class defenders of the Chelseas and other top teams in European competition. Tevez definitely doesnt help in that department either. The Prem trophy is all fine and dandy but we really shouldnt be settling for just that. With some sources putting the future fee at around 35 m Thats just crazy considering you could probably get two solid strikers for that fee (Huntelaar at 15m and Adriano at 20m). I have always felt like Utd should go after Adriano especially as he is still only 25 and all he needs is a supportive atmosphere and patience. He cant get that at Inter with the quality they have up front in that squad because the class strikers they have would definitely become unsettled when their talent sits on the bench while Adriano tries to regain form. I honestly believe he would burst back onto the scene if Man Utd were ever to get him and Rooney's unselfishness as his support striker will definitely give him that extra push. They could feed off each other pretty well I feel. The player has all the tools and with his size we'd effectively have someone who wouldnt be intimidated by the challenge of a big, strong defender and also someone who can grind it out for us up front while helping us attain victory in those ugly (physically taxing) matches where all the fancy stuff gets thrown out the window.

The player has all the tools and with his size we'd effectively have someone who wouldnt be intimidated by the challenge of a big, strong defender and also someone who can grind it out for us up front while helping us attain victory in those ugly (physically taxing) matches where all the fancy stuff gets thrown out the window.
Have you seen Rooney and Tevez play? They're some of the least intimidated players in the game, and add that to the fact that they are both tanks, they don't get shoved off the ball too easily by anyone no matter what their size. Of all the strikers we could be going for I wouldn't want Adriano.
I hate Nani already. A shame because I do like the Jackson Five.
Why do you hate Nani, Barry?
Why do you hate Nani Barry?
There's a few things. His attitude and his balance problems mainly; the same as Cristiano Ronaldo, which also means he's is indeed a talented player.
It's a really good reason to hate someone
Players like him ruin the beautiful game with their diving, much like Robben, CRonaldo, Guti etc. Players that don't need it to get by, but still cheat the shit out of their opponents.
Okay, i get your point now.

I slightly agree, although you do need a tall target man upfront to compliment the skill and tenacity of Rooney and Tevez.

Yeah if you're Bolton! Just because these guys aren't as tall as Peter Crouch doesn't mean they won't win headers. Plus if you look at United's play, it's all about pass and move, with either on the floor passes or lofted balls for players to run on to. We rarely hoof the ball to a target man. I think Rooney and Tevez will score headers too because of their positional awareness. This is more important than being tall IMO

Carlos Tevez says he has given his word to Sir Alex Ferguson that he will join United.
The 23-year-old, currently on international duty with Argentina at the Copa Amercia, claims negoiations between his advisors and the club are at an advanced stage and he is relishing the chance to play for the Reds.
"Through my backers I have given my word to Mr Ferguson," Tevez is quoted as saying in The People. "They have told him I'll be at Manchester United next season and once I make a promise I don't go back on it.
"There isn't a player who would turn down this opportunity and the negotiations are too far advanced to go back now.
"I have been open and honest with West Ham every step of the way and I hope the fans understand."
If he joins, Tevez will become United's fourth major signing of the summer following the arrivals of Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson.

Good news, I personally think he will be able to fit in the same team as Rooney and they both have brilliant work rate which should be great to watch. One of the best things in getting him is that another team can't have him, if Chelsea had Drogba with Tevez playing off of him they would be extremely dangerous.
Do you guys think the Tevez transfer is 100% confirmed or is there a slight chance that another club does a [:ninja:]hijacking[/:ninja:]
Do you lot honestly think that United are trying to buy the title? Most of the players they have brought so far have come in at highly inflated prices. If this were to happen at Chelsea we'd be accused of trying to buy the title

They're all on hire purchases so it's not as much as it looks.

They clearly are to a certain extent. If this Tevez deal goes through it could mean spendings of more than £80 million which is huge although still something like £40 million off what Chelsea spent straight after Abramovic came in. This reason I think that Chelsea get accused so much is because they weren't really in the title contention until they got all of the money whereas Man Utd worked there way up, money was involved but not in such a big way. Another thing with Chelsea is that they have the ability to go out and spend £30 million on a 30 year old whereas we spend our money on youngsters who could be at the club for a long time.
I also think Fergie has realised that major investment is needed as the key players in the squad over the past decade are now coming to the end of their career's (Giggs, Scholes, Solksjaer, Neville) and they all need to be replaced if we are going to stay in touch with Chelsea over the next few season's.

Top Gun, as I said, the deals are on hire purchases. Nani and Anderson were only £7-8mil upfront, and fell in to last years budget, as we didn't spend all that much. Hargreaves cost a bit more, but as he was bought after July 1st, it falls in to next years budget, and Tevez is supposed to be coming on a loan deal for £3mil/year, no? It looks like we spent £60+ million in the summer, but it's not that simple. Total outlay for the summer is less than £30mil so far. It'll mean we won't be able to afford anyone next summer.
I really hope our players play well together quickly, I've had nightmares of Nani playing like Richardson.

The Hargreaves deal is a straight £17m I think but I know that the Nani and Anderson deals depend on performance and Tevez is probably going to be on loan but Ferguson hinted today in a press conference that it might not be a loan.
Anyway I think the squad is now looking the strongest it has in the last 4 or 5 years,
Van Der Saar, Foster and Kuszczak. All 3 of them are good enough to be starting although Kuszczak doesn't have my full confidence. Foster and Van Der Saar are both very good keepers.
Neville, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Brown and Heinze. I have no problems with any of those starting and in backup we have Silvestre, Pique, Evans and O'Shea. Silvestre is dodgy at times and could do with leaving, O'Shea improved greatly last season and looked much more confident. Pique and Evans are both untried in the Premiership but both had very good season's with their respective clubs.
Giggs, Hargreaves, Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo, Fletcher and Park. I have no problems with any of those starting. Fletcher is the same as O'Shea in the way that last season was probably the best season he has had and showed that he plays his best in the centre of the park. Park's energy gives us a different dimension as he hassle's brilliantly and chips in with some good goals. We obviously have Nani and Anderson who are both untried but could become first team players quite easily if they can prove themselves in the Premiership.
Rooney, Smith, Saha and Solksjaer. All of those could be starters but we definitely need a better player to partner Rooney and it looks like Tevez will be coming in to do that. We have Rossi who had a good record for Parma last season which shows he can score at a high level and Dong, who to be honest, I don't have a clue about really.
Dong:erm: , God knows:w00t

People have said it about United over the last decade but the problem with the claim is United earned their money. Chelsea were no where to be seen until some mafia based Russian multi-billionaire mobster decided to own Chelsea. Quite as simple as that really.

With Tevez & Rooney upfront, United will definatly have the ugliest pairing of strikers.
Then throw Saha, Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Van Der Sar, Ferdinand, Evra and Brown into the mix and you have one hell of a ugly first team.
Good thing football aint a beauty contest.
Might be the ugliest but certainly one of the deadliest partnerships(striking/football partnership, that is)
With short hair Tevez and Rooney aren't so ugly :erm:

when we were after tevez for 20M i was like hmm i feel rather hypocritical right now. But the fee surrounding nani and anderson are undisclosed so we cant say how much of the title we're buying.

Let's fucking hope so!
Who was 17 before?
I thought Hargeaves was getting 8 now that Rooney has 10
I think that Anderson will end up getting 8, this would show that Ferguson has faith that he can be a first team player straight away.
It'll probably go to Tevez
He might take 32 but I'm not sure if he has a special affiliation with that number or not. If not he could end up taking the number 8. 12 is free but I expect that Foster will end up taking that.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting Manchester United to complete the signing of Carlos Tevez in the coming days.
The Argentine has agreed personal terms to join the Premier League champions, who are trying to resolve the issue of his registration with West Ham United and the Premier League.
Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian is also involved in the negotiation process, but Ferguson believes the matter will conclude with the striker moving to Old Trafford.
"We have had a negotiation, it's well documented, with Carlos Tevez," said Ferguson at a press conference on Sky Sports News.
"The essential parts, it's all agreed, we're just hoping to finalise it soon.
"I thought it was going to be done by last weekend. Everything seemed perfectly okay, so the hold-up must be with the Premier League."
Ferguson also anticipates none of the problems which blighted West Ham's signing of Tevez, with the East London club fined £5.5million.
The United manager insists nothing 'dodgy' will occur in his club's quest to bring the South American to the club.
He added: "I don't know about the intricacies, I've left that to Maurice Watkins, he's dealing with that.
"I'm sure the outcome will be that we will be taking him with complete clarity in the deal, with no suspicions or anything dodgy about it.
"There is no way we can be involved in anything that's underhand at all."
Tevez's capture would complete a big-spending summer for Ferguson, who has already secured deals for Anderson, Owen Hargreaves and Nani.
