im lovin this season already. Even though we're playing rather mediocre football, its pretty close thus far. Back to the good old Arse-United rivalry i reckon.
I didnt see no clothesline :erm: contact was to do with Sahas shin.
Carrick was easily m.o.m. him and Rio did well.
There was barely any contact between the legs, the ref may have given it for that mind, or possibly the Mike Tyson-esque left hook from Ben Haim.

yeh there was a clothesline, but looked rather ricky gervais than mike tyson.

Well true, but arm to face is a penalty. No one should feel the need to raise their arms anywhere on the pitch unless gaining leverage for a jump. Swinging your arms around, especially in the box, is walking the tightrope, it's stupidly risky, and he obviously struck him. But a lot of people failed to even see Ben Haim catch Louis in the face, and are constantly moaning about the penalty due to the minimal contact at the feet, it's annoying me. Several people I've talked too are stubborn about the decision, without even noticing the contact between Haim's arm and Louis's face.
I'll get a screenshot for the world to see when there is one up on the net.

I can't believe that none of the pundits have mentioned about Saha getting slapped in the face. They mention the "trip" but have seemed to have totally missed the slap.

I had a butchers of MOTD. Alan Hansen was tearing into Chelsea which I thought was a bit harsh. Chelsea had a few of their big guns out & did pretty well until the sending off.
I thought that it was good he didn't suck up to Chelsea because Desailly was there. Hansen was exaggerating how bad Chelsea will do and Desailly was exaggerating how fine everything was going to be. Who's the Man Utd pundit on MOTD? We got Hansen and Lawro for Liverpool, Graeme Le Saux for Arsenal, the bold guy for Chelsea and Shearer for Newcastle.
The Messiah

5 consecutive clean sheets so far :smug: Next game is on Wednesday against Coventry in the Carling Cup. Who do you reckon will play? Will Dong get a game? Evans and Pique at the back?
Most probably if fergie want to give them experience.
Most probably not if fergie just want to win.

Anderson, Eagles, Pique and Campbell....will feature i reckon.
SAF hasnt had this much youth potential in a while, he'd want to test them i say.

24-09-2007, 23:36
Do you reckon they are good enough to beat Coventry?
A lot of our back up players are injured so there will probably be a few first team players in there. You would usually expect to see Foster, Silvestre, O'Shea and Fletcher playing but they are out. It will most likely be a mixture of first team and youth players.
AgentZero
24-09-2007, 23:39
Its obviously not going to be full of young players. Think of all the old heads being replaced (Giggs, Scholes) and an opportunity to rest those players that have featured in all of the games.

There was a time when he was taunted as Keane's replacement
I haven't actually posted my thoughts on Sunday's game. So, here it goes (Bit of Keenan and Kel for you).
I thought we played rather well. Chelsea seemed to not make the best of the chances. First goal, from Tevez, was a good header. He was brave to stick his head onto the end of the ball from a superb cross from Giggsy. Penalty later on, Saha I thought didn't take it as well as he could of, but atleast it wen't in. I thought it was an entertaining watch compared to the last two matches we've played against Chelski.
That is a very good result. Chelsea was playing alright before Mikel got sent off. I don't think a red card was fair but it wouldn't have made a big difference as Joe Cole could have been sent off. Good cross from Giggs and fine header from Tevez.

27-09-2007, 00:34
Me too, a friend said the same thing
Ahh the future looks bright....i hope Anderson aint gonna be another Kleberson.
Highly doubt that.
Kleberson is a different type of player then Anderson for starters. Anderson was and has been hyped about more then Kleberson was. Yeah, big things were expected of Kleberson, big things were expected from Eric Djemba-Djemba too. Djemba-Djemba didn't have a bad first season at all, Kleberson just seemed rather injury prone to me, and very rarely looked promising when he had the ball on the pitch. Anderson proved hiself and his worth at Porto beforehand, whilst Kleberson played for Athlético Paranaense. Better standard league in Portugal compared to the Brazilian league. I know what you mean by not wanting Anderson to turn out like Kleberson, but If Anderson was to be a flop, I wouldn't think that he would be as much as a flop (Should actually use the word, 'dissapointment') as Kleberson.
Anderson, 19, has already played for the Brazilian National Side. I can't remember rightly, but I don't think Kleberson did before coming to United. Just give him more time, mate. I really do doubt that he will be a flop at United. He has a bright future ahead of him, and yeah it's always frustrating to see one of our future first team players playing poorly (Note, I didn't see the Carling Cup game against Coventry bar the Highlights, which were basically shite), but players like Anderson/Nani even, need time to settle in. Nani, has already settled in by the looks of things, but as we all are expecting, there is more to come from Nani.
Woah, got carried away there. Didn't realise how much I wrote.

Anderson has more talent in his toe than Djemba and Kleberson put together, don't worry.
AgentZero
27-09-2007, 23:45
And Anderson is still 19 ROnaldo was 18 when he started at United and needed a ful 2 years to establish himself properly with English fans (bar the setback). I feel that in 2/3 years time scholesy will be 35/36 and anderson would replace him nicely.
The reason i feel why Veron and Kleberson were flops because they came to United when they were in their mid 20's and there was little room for development.
For the price we paid for Anderson I was hoping to see more from him. Looks very very very average so far.

He was nothing special. At the time I was wondering what all the fuss was about - I still am.
As you say, you've got to think they're as much Quieroz's signings as Fergies. It's surely no coincidence that two Portuguese speaking players have gone to United whose number two also happens to be Portuguese.

I'd also suspect that Querioz is likely to be your manager once Fergie leaves... Makes sense when you think about it.

I believe José Mourinho will be the successor to Sir Alex Ferguson.
He's adamant that he will be back managing in England one day and with him being friends with Ferguson, I can see Ferguson pushing for him to be his successor.
I hope I am wrong, but I just have that feeling.
I think that Quieroz would be the choice is there wasn't a real World Class manager available. I could see Mourinho coming to Man Utd and I would love that, I hated him when he was at Chelsea but he's one of those guys who you only love when he is at your club.

Apparently Brown & Vidic only missed training but they rekon they'll start, also Pique and Anderson were the best two Utd players in the cup game accourding to Fergie...dunno if he was just saying that though cus didn't both Pique and Evans have a shocker at the back??

Where did you hear that? Last time I checked, both were doubtful for tonight.

Always good to get the 3 points but the defending looks shaky still. Good to see Rooney get off the mark with a very good finish, hopefully that will continue.

Yeah, he ran that midfield & every pass hit its target! :erm:
Im worried about Scholes this season, not playing his usual self. Maybe the role of tevez has affected his game, as tevez tends to drop deep.

Oooh, sarcsm there methinks!!!
Once more Carra proved he is the new age Carlton Palmer, can break up play well, unfortunately for both teams....
It sickens me to keep hearing the commentators spewing drivel about how he is one of the pest passers of the ball in the english game (usually just before he fecks up!)
As a long time and amazingly fickle red, i can safely say and will no doubt be heckled for saying - bring back Djemba-Djemba!!!!! He broke up play a lot, but at leas no-one said he was world class...
Other than great aerial ability I feel Wayne Rooney has everything needed to become a great out and out striker. I think Sir Alex did well with his attacking additions to the sqaud, when they hit top form they will be a real joy to watch.

Torres dives as much as Ronaldo? I think they need to up your dosage lad.
Not only does Torres hardly ever dive, he does something Ronaldo NEVER has or will do, he plays through people kicking the shit out of him and even on the deck continues to battle and a lot of the time gets up with the ball.

No idea how bad vidic and o'shea are Andy. We'll have to wait and see, but Pique had a good game today, so there's no need to panic too much. I thought Anderson looked impressive today as well, but does Kuzszcak have some sort of defect which stops him from seeing the opposition players? Seemed to roll the ball out to players who had Wigan players right next to them.
Anyone know of any coach travel up to OT on match days?
Might be able to get tickets for the Everton game, and need to travel from Portsmouth. Would get train but only two of us so would be expensive.

Rooney isn't and never will be an out and out striker.
I must say that Man Utd were a very enjoyable watch today actually.
Rooney can be the main striker for Man Utd. Football has changed to be a good target man all you need is intelligence, Francesco Totti has proved this. As long a Man Utd play short passes along with clever movement I can see Rooney being a success upfront.

I must say the premierleague was starting to change a lot, but at least United are back on top form, scoring goals with all the possesion they have. It's gonna be much tougher for them this year as teams have gotten much better and have spent a record amount of money.
Chelsea still have room for improvement and Tottenham as well especially for the amount of money they spend consistently year after year. Congrats to clubs like Portsmouth (won 2-0 today), Man-City and arsenal who have been either consistent from the beggining or from the past month. It's very difficult at this point to say who will be relegated or who will qualify for the major european competitions. The league in England is just too tough this year.
