it's only for today,
Is anybody else annoyed that we are trying to buy Veloso for £20m, we really don't need another central midfielder, we need a striker, and £20m could get us a bloody good striker
I don't think Man Utd need another central midfielder.
You've got Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Fletcher.
That are three good ones and one ???? so I guess you could use one or two class players.
And Scholes isn't getting any younger anyway.
Maybe Affelay from PSV would be a good signing.
Aissati or Affelay would be good.
I always thought Veloso is a CB. Anyway 20 million is too much for him!

Carlos Queiroz has indicated that he would like to become Manchester United manager by declaring that he wants to stay at Old Trafford for another decade.
The Portuguese tactician has been Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant for five years in two separate spells.
Ferguson has yet to decide when he will step down but Queiroz, who has managerial experience with Real Madrid, believes he will have age and experience on his side when that time does arrive.
"I came here with a set of well defined functions which I carry out today and which I can do in the future," he told the News of the World.
"The conditions are here for me to stay another eight or 10 years.
"Sir Alex is happy, I'm happy, the Glazers are happy.
"If they think I should stay on, it is up to them. I've got extremely comfortable conditions in Manchester."
Queiroz has been linked with the role of Portugal coach but he claims he would not want to be considered.
"No Portuguese coach should ignore that possibility but I'm not offering myself," he said.
"Nor will I be available at any price."
This is something i worry about regularly. Who will replace Fergie? How do you replace somebody like SAF? For me personally i think there are 3 main candidates, Mark Hughes, because of his history at the club and how well he has done with Blackburn, Roy Keane, again because of history with us, and Queiroz, he knows the squad very well, he has been with us for a long time.
Other names are Jose Mourinho, but i don't expect Fergie to be quitting any time any time soon, and i doubt Mourinho won't be managing some other team by then, Marcello Lippi, he is a friend of Fergie's and he has been linked to us before.
What does everybody else think?

Fergie Happy With His Lot
Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out a January swoop for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov. Both Berbatov and Bolton hitman Nicolas Anelka have been linked with big-money moves to Manchester United during the transfer window. But Sir Alex insists he is happy with the talent he currently has at his disposal. The United boss said: "We don't always get great joy in January and I think the squad is good enough. It takes time for players to settle in when they are midway through the season — so we are conscious of that. Maybe we are short of cover in the left-back area now Gabriel Heinze has left, but other than that we are okay."
I'm not too surprised, I think he still thinks Saha is going to come good again. But if he doesn't by the end of the season I expect he will be on his way.
Yes, I agree with you Top Gun. I didn't think he would have been so patient with him anyway.
I don't think the, "It's my way or the highway" scenario can be done so often again. The other teams will snap the player, if the latter adapts, that wouldn't be good for us.

He has one good season then a bad one, etc. When he first joined he was brilliant and looked one of the best in the league, then he got injured. Then 05-06 he scored 15 or 16 in total after missing 2 months, then last season he was crap. He's due his good season but I can't see it happening.

their last win was against us blues. so really expect a win.
Fulham fought well but with the referees help. Their players aren't outstanding but I wonder what the manager told them, they were playing well but our players are the better:smug:.
There were lots of off side decisions against us, Ronaldo got a booking for being tripped by the keeper. For once the referee wasn't with us but with the other side! I'm glad the other bastards won't be here moaning about the ref being with on our side!

Maradona - Rooney better than Kaka
Diego Maradona does not believe Kaka is the best player in the world after he picked up the Ballon d'Or.
Indeed the Argentine legend says that Manchester Unietd and England star Wayne Rooney has more to offer than the Brazilian - who was crowned World Footballer of the Year at the weekend.
"I don't know too well how the election is done but I think that Rooney is better than Kaka," Maradona explained in El Grafico.
"Milan is a team that depends all the time on Kaka but that doesn't make him the best player in the world."
Boca loyalty
Maradona also looked ahead to the Fifa Club World Cup which kicks-off in Japan later this month and where his beloved Boca Juniors are favourites, along with Milan, to meet in the final.
"In my opinion Boca has chances to win the Fifa Club Championship. Everyone is talking about Milan, but if Kaka doesn't play well they will be in problems because they depend too much on him," he said.
"I am not scared of Milan, I only want Boca to get to the competition in good physical condition."
Speaking of his current favourites in football - Maradona ruled on who he feels is the pick of his fellow countrymen.
"At the moment the best three Argentinian players are Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Juan Roman Riquelme.
:shocking:

Maradonna should stop the drugs. Lil' Rooney may have more to offer, but as the golden ball joke trophy is for best footballer for the past year, then even as a Salford Red i'd have to say Kaka hands down.

Is what I read correct, in that Ronaldo cheated yet again?
There wasn't much contact but that was only because Ronaldo had to jump over him. It was one of those which you've seen given but it definitely wasn't a dive.
Cristiano Ronaldo says his mum will be angry with Rob Styles after the referee denied the Manchester United winger a chance of a hat-trick against Fulham on Monday. He was instead booked for diving and Ronaldo said: "My mum sometimes says to me 'Why do you never score a hat-trick?' But I tell her I'm happy to keep scoring two goals."

Fergie - Anderson Is The Best
Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Anderson for filling the void left by Paul Scholes' injury.
Scholes is likely to be out until the New Year with a knee injury he picked up in training before United's UEFA Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev back in October, but he has hardly been missed due to Anderson's recent form.
The Brazilian arrived at Old Trafford in the summer from Porto in a £19million deal and has given Ferguson's side a new dimension in midfield.
His ability to adapt to life in the England League so quickly may have surprised some, but his manager believes that he is merely fulfilling the potential which the club knew he had after agreeing the deal with the Portuguese champions at the end of last season.
Superb
"Anderson has been absolutely superb," Ferguson said.
"The boy has definitely got something special.
"There was an urgency to get him once we'd scouted him, even though he had broken his leg and had been out for four or five months.
"The reports we were getting were saying that he was the best young player in the world.
"I knew he had real potential but I didn't want to put labels on him like that.
"But we have been delighted with him and he has proven himself to be a true central midfield player.
"He can tackle, he is lightening quick, he's brave and he can pass the ball.
"What he's got to prove is his goalscoring ability because that's something that Scholesy has always given us."
Dominated
Ferguson even believes that his new star is better than Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas after leaving the Spaniard in the shade during the 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium last month.
"Anderson's battle with Cesc Fabregas against Arsenal was interesting because they were two very influential players in the game," he said.
"The boy Fabregas is going through a golden period at Arsenal, but I thought that Anderson dominated that position."

Really, how many here thinks hes better than cesc, anderson played in the same youth tournament as veela and the the latter got the golden boot and best player of the tournament.

Brown snub Utd contract
Wes Brown could be on his way out of Manchester United after rejecting the club's latest contract offer.
The England international was expected to sign a new and improved four-year deal at Old Trafford, but his advisors have now informed the club that they are not happy with the offer.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists that The Red Devils will not be improving their existing offer, meaning Brown could be on his way when his present deal expires in the summer.
Rejected
"We have had several meetings with Wes' agent but they have rejected our last offer," said Ferguson.
"It is a good offer but it is our final one. That is the end of it now and we won't be going back."
Brown would be free to talk to other interested clubs in January and even sign pre-contract terms with teams outside the Premier League.
It is rare for United to find themselves in this position, especially with one of their home-grown players.
And with Gary Neville suffering yet another setback on his long-awaited return from injury, he seems destined to spend much of the campaign at right-back.
Ferguson added: "There is a possibility Wes could leave, which would be very disappointing."
I think Sagnol would be a very good addition to the squad now. Especially with Brown leaving.
(revised) Prediction for today: United 4 - 1 Derby

Well we did have Bardsley who i liked but i think he is making is loan to Sheffield United permanent, we have Pique who can play there though his natural position is CB. Then there is Danny Simpson who i also like and his natural position is RB, it's just a case of whether or not he is good enough to play there for us. If i was United manager  i'd go for Johnny Heitinga, he is naturally a CB but he can play at RB, he is a brilliant defender. but i don't think you'd like that too much eh Beetwee

My dad(who's always on Ronaldo's side, when I say something negative about him:mellow: ) says these one goals can help someone become the top scorer!
For Gods's sake he's a winger! I know it's good to be a winger who CAN actually score, shows his aggressiveness(in football terms, not going berserk), yet that doesn't change the fact he's a winger. I think Ronaldo should have let Tevez should have take it.
He(Ronaldo) does know the feeling of not getting a hat-trick when you COULD have. Very selfish of him I can say. Then again, who doesn't like scoring goals, but he's already scored a fair few this season, I guess that's how he is.

It's quite funny reading this arguement about Ronaldo taking the pen instead of Tevez completing his hat trick because I did the same not long ago, we were 4-0 up and I hadn't scored and my strike partner was on 2 goals , I won a penalty after being brought down by the keeper and stepped up myself to score , I think his reasoning like mine would be that he won the penalty? or was denied a scoring chance by being fouled , so i sympathise with Ronnie because I am also a greedy bastard :D

Park set for United return
Park Ji-sung could return to the Manchester United squad for the pre-Christmas game against Everton.
The South Korean midfielder has been sidelined since the end of March after suffering a knee injury against Blackburn Rovers.
He was due to reappear in club colours for a reserve game against Newcastle United last week, only for the fixture to be postponed.
However, Park is close to full fitness and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson feels he could be in his plans for the 23rd December clash with Everton at Old Trafford.
"Ji-sung Park is now training with the first team and should be ready in a couple of weeks," Ferguson told Manchester United Radio.
"He'll be back in the fold in about two weeks' time, I think."
Terrific
Prior to his injury, Park had scored five goals in his previous five Premier League appearances and Ferguson is looking forward to the player's return.
He added: "He's a terrific young player and his return will be a great boost for us.
"He gives us more options going forward, which is good news."

As for tomorrow's match, I hope SAF doesn't field too weak a team as I don't want a reversal of last season's score :(

I do think that the score won't be as high as it was last season, for you to have 'Absolutely Shit Roma' in your signature.;)
Wayne Rooney will captain United in the Champions league clash with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a young squad to Roma for the meaningless final Group F match.
Wes Brown and Michael Carrick are the only other players besides Rooney who started against Derby County on Saturday.
Rooney has been handed the captaincy, after much persistence from the 22-year-old.
"He has been pestering me for quite a while now, so I have given in," said Sir Alex.
United from: Kuszczak, Heaton, Brown, Eckersley, O'Shea, Pique, Evans, Simpson, Lee, Chester, Cleverley, Hewson, Nani, Eagles, Carrick, Fletcher, Dong, Brandy, Saha, Rooney.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will captain a side that will be packed with fringe players.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand are rested.
Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Louis Saha are brought in, along with young reserves Febian Brandy and Sam Hewson.
Roma defender Philippe Mexes is back after injury but midfielder Simone Perrotta is a doubt, while Alberto Aquilani and Marco Cassetti are out.
Going on that evidence the team should look something like this,
GK: Kuszczak
DR: Simpson
DL: O'Shea
DC: Evans
DC: Brown
MC: Fletcher
MC: Carrick
MC: Hewson
FC: Brandy
FC: Saha
FC: Rooney
Unless Rooney is playing a deep role then it looks like 4-3-3 with Saha and Brandy both playing aswell. Hopefully Roma will rest a few players or we could get a severe beating here.

It won't last.
It was the least Pique could do, after leaving that ball to Totti.

Shame about the fans, very pleased with the result and the fact that Rooney didn't get injured, didn't see the second half but i was very impressed with the first half. The young ones did themselves proud

Fucking hell. That stadium was practically empty yet the Roma fans still manage to stab 5 of our fans.
What kind of punishment do they get? Practically fuck all. Kick them out the tournament and don't let them play in it for a few seasons, otherwise they'll never learn.

yeh just read...shame really, lets see how much of an influence quieroz is for the team.
Yes, that would be a chance for him to prove himself. That is, we'll have an insight of what to expect of him, if he does become our manage when Sir Alex Ferguson steps down.
I wonder if Fergie steps down first before Queiroz leave.

No he's not, the ban starts on the 28th. So away at West Ham and at home to Birmingham.
