C.Ronaldo has been pretty invisible. Not doing much to get rid of his "Non show at big games" tag.
He's not the sort of player than shines in these sorts of high tension defensive games, he needs the play to be spread and open.
Fortunately, this is where Hargreaves is best. Him and Anderson were quality, I don't know how Scholes can get back in the side with they way they are playing.
vanNistelrooy
16-12-2007, 15:40
Scholes will get back in, he just has to. Don't mind Anderson dropping to bench, as although I think he's inproved greatly, he'd make a decent backup.
Ronaldo was just as invisible as Torres. Loved his touch around Hyppia when he played Rooney in to miss an easy chance.
I fucking love Hargreaves.

Very good result for us, Brown was awful, VDS was worse, Hargreaves was brilliant, Rio was Brilliant and Anderson was very good in periods.
Lovely work for the goal, very clever set piece, i was worried everytime Babel had the ball for them. He was by far their best player and he was only for 20 minutes or so.
Ronaldo was disappointing today, yet another example of him not showing up for big games, also i must say i'm very glad to see Saha staying on the bench, i can't wait for us to sell him, he has really pissed me off lately.

Rape inquiry at Man Yoo party hotel
Police are investigating the alleged rape of a 26-year-old woman at a hotel where Manchester United players and other guests were attending a party.
The alleged attack took place at the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester in the early hours of Tuesday.
Hotel managers confirmed the venue was fully booked out for a private party.
Police are refusing to confirm or deny the involvement of any players in the incident at the city centre hotel but are continuing inquiries.
The hotel is a boutique "town house" hotel converted from a Victorian schoolhouse, situated in the trendy Castlefield area of Manchester.
'Inquiries continuing'
A hotel spokesman said: "We're helping the police with an investigation."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police are currently investigating a report of rape at a hotel in Manchester city centre.
"[Officers] were called to the hotel on Great John Street to a report that a 26-year-old woman had been raped.
"Inquiries are continuing."
A Manchester United spokeswoman declined to comment.
Police were called to the hotel shortly after 0400 GMT.

ye most likely...damn whores
I saw in the papers today we might offer Wes Brown and Louis Saha for Dimitar Berbatov. Makes sense as Spurs were intrested in Brown since he rejected the contract offers and Saha would just be there to give them a striker in return.
Wouldn't mind seeing Saha go but I've always thought Brown was a useful player to have knocking about, not first team but good enough for the squad.
Also, if this does happen then it would mean we would be looking for a right back in January. Most likely to be Sagnol from Bayern but I've seen Lahm and Hutton both mentioned aswell. Lahm would be my first choice as he is young, very talented, already has experience of the top level of football and can play both sides. But I wouldn't mind Hutton or Sagnol either.
Lahm and his versatility would be most welcome, a worthy replacement of Gary Neville.
On the other hand, I'm not happy with Brown leaving, he's proved himself to be a useful squad player over the years.
I'm not the biggest fan of Berbatov, though I'd rather have him than 'an always injured Louis Saha'. don't get me wrong, on his day, Saha is (near)deadly striker but his day never seems to approach. :(

That said, Jonny Evans is not one to miss. If he is proved guilty, *that will have a negative impact on his career.
*EDIT: I assume that will have a negative impact on his career and personal life.
Jonny Evans is being questioned by the police.
So was Ronaldo years ago. It's all bollocks again, stupid biatches.
Berbatov would be a fantastic signing. Just watching him play is a joy, he oozes class. Yo can give him the ball and his control is superb, rarely gives it away. He's one of the most intelligent forwards around at the moment. Just the sort of player Rooney and Tevez would thrive on.
I wouldn't be particularly happy with losing brown either, though if he wants to be a stubborn bastard (is he really asking for £60,000 a week?) then fuck him. I assume that SAF has someone else lined up to replace him anyway. Saha can go no worries about that, Berbatov is twice the player he is (on both their current forms anyway). Lahm would be awesome too.
If he did shag the bitch, I hope he fucked her so bad she'd regret she entered the hotel.

On signing Berbatov, i would gladly let Saha go but i agree in that it would be disappointing to see Brown leave, heis a good back up player. Saha is crap and i can't wait to see him leave.
I really hope the rumours are true about Lahm, though i doubt it will happen as Bayern do not like selling to us, if it were to happen i think he is the perfect replacement for Neville.
If we pester them like we did for Hargreaves, we'll end up having Lahm but after paying a ridiculously high amount of money. :/

I think replacing Brown and Saha for berbatov isn't the best option. That would solve our strikers problem but it will create another gap at the back, with Neville and Evra being injured a lot and Brown being able to perform almost anywhere in the back we'll be replacing our forwards shortage with a defenders one. The only department where we're full is the midfield. But then again, I think Fergie knows what he's doing, isn't that so?
AgentZero
21-12-2007, 09:09
the void in the back isnt as bad as you think. Losing brown would not be ideal but i think there is enough cover for right back.
o0oGedo0o
21-12-2007, 09:17
What about the left then, we had Evra as a cover for Heinze, now Heinze is gone and we only got Evra as a first choice left back. Not that he's not good at it, but we do not have a good replacement for him. I don't want to see O'shea being pushed on the left back or playing him upfront like he did once. IMO selling Ruud and Smith wasn't right. Especially Smith, the guy always came out to perform but Fergie kept him as a DMF then sold him while we do not have enough strikers. Ironic.
AgentZero
21-12-2007, 09:21
i think we cashed in on him (smith) at the right time, he isnt setting anything alight unlike ruud and rossi, which i beleive teh latter was a mistake and it was the right time to say good by to ruud too.
Yeah leftback is a bit of a problem, but john o'shea isnt shit at it...and there are thos eout of position fillers like fletcher and hargreaves..who can do both wings (i reckon)
o0oGedo0o
21-12-2007, 09:27
Good point, but I don't like making players play out of their position. While they can do good, you won't take the best out of them.
Playing Fletcher/Hargreaves at full-back is only an option when the back-line has turned into a medi-clinic.(see last season's defensive problems)
I hear that pander guy is a good left back. Might be available for cheap, views on him?
Manchester United have signed 24-year-old Angolan forward Manucho.
The striker, who has been on trial at the club, arrives from Angolan side Petro Athletico on a three-year deal.
"We have had Manucho here for a three-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a contract," said boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
"He is a tall, agile, quick forward and through contacts that Carlos (Queiroz) has, was brought to our attention around six months ago."
Manucho, whose real name is Mateus Alberto Contreiras Goncalves, arrives at Old Trafford in January subject to a work permit.
He joins Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Loius Saha and Dong Fangzhou in United's striking department.
Well this came out of the blue for me, I never even knew he was on trial. I guess that means we won't be getting Berbatov but it could spell the end for Saha.

What's his record like at his previous club? There's no detail on Wiki.
He was the top scorer of Girabola (Angolan league) in 2006 with 13 goals and in 2007 with 15 goals.
This is what I got from an article about his signing,
Manucho Gonçalves is an Angolan international football player. He currently plays for Petro Atlético with an average of 25 goals per season in all competitions and he is also a key player of the Angola national team. He is currently on a trial with Manchester United as they are looking for a new striker. He was the best scorer of Girabola for two times (2006 and 2007). He managed to score more than 8 goals in the African Champions League and was amongst the African best goal scorer.
He will be gone for the African Cup of Nations then...

I think you should change the line in your sig. that says arsenal > manchester united, cause you're a united fan obviously. Unless there is a hidden meaning I don't know of.
We've been linked with Alan Hutton again and also Lokomotiv Moscow defender Branislav Ivanovic who is being chased by most of Europe's top teams, we should have an edge though as he is the same nationality as Vidic.
Also Dong should be on his way in January as he hasn't impressed Sir Alex. Can't wait to see him go, he's 22 now and he hasn't shown anything which makes me think he's going to be a good player.
EDIT: Saha has more league goals than Kuyt this season.
Get rid of Dong, what a waste.

Ronaldo perfect free kick
December 29th, 2007 at 4:59 am , filed under News.
Perfect free kick down to extra practiceSir Alex Ferguson has ridiculed the theories over Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kicks and says the winger’s success is down to practice.
Manchester United ace Ronaldo curled home a superb free-kick at Sunderland on Boxing Day which had the purists purring.
His effort during United’s 4-0 win at the Stadium of Light led to a number of suggestions being put forward about how Ronaldo manages to get such swerve and dip on the ball.
One theory is that he tries to make contact with the valve on the ball, which then moves around violently making it almost impossible for a goalkeeper to stop.
But Ferguson dismissed the notion as “rubbish”, insisting Ronaldo benefits only from the extra work he does on United’s Carrington training pitch.
“All I have heard about over the last day or two is about the ball and how Cristiano shapes up,” said Ferguson.
“It is rubbish. He takes about 30 free-kicks after training every day. Not only are the balls not the same ones we use in matches, I have never once seen him pay any attention to where the valve is.
“The most important thing is practice. Practice makes perfect.”

He's leading the goal-scoring charts by 2 goals, scoring beautiful goals and playing some of the best football of his life - how the fuck can you complain?
I just don't like his older free-kicks, that's all. As I've said before, he has improved greatly but he can become much better. On another note, I'm glad he cut down some of the tricks, which were not necessary.
I knew Ronaldo's missed penalty would cost us, hopefully Everton can do us a favour.

He, along with Carrick and Quieroz were ill, though Quieroz still made the game, absolutely shocking result, we were so poor, we just sat back after scoring and just let them do everything, our defending from their set plays was dreadful, we need to buck our ideas up
Next game is Birmingham at home, Rooney should be back by then, hopefully he is and Saha can go and sit on the bench

Apparently Tevez was carried off at the end of the match today..if this is serious then we surely have to think about buying a striker in Jan, Saha just ain't upto it and is unreliable due to his injuries....also we seem to have problems scoring again..

All I was saying is that I won't miss him as when he played for us he was nothing special (wasn't very good at Newcastle either). The thing is, Rossi had more chances than Dong has so far, but how many of you will miss Dong because he wasn't given a chance? Dong scored loads for Antwerp just as Rossi scored loads for the reserves. Perhaps, like Forlan, Rossi is more suited to La Liga.
We do have a buy-back clause for Rossi, anyway?
Sir Alex Ferguson described Old Trafford as having the atmosphere of a "funeral" when he spoke after Manchester United's 1-0 win over Birmingham City. Carlos Tevez's goal means the champions have won 10 league games in a row on their own ground but Ferguson was distinctly unimpressed with United's supporters, accusing them of letting down the team.
"The crowd were dead," he complained. "That was the quietest I have heard the crowd and it's disappointing because we needed the crowd today. We have come through a difficult period of game after game and in moments like these we need a lift. But it was like a funeral out there."
This is not the first time Ferguson has felt aggrieved about the lack of noise at Old Trafford and his complaints will bring back memories of Roy Keane's notorious rant about the club's supporters. Keane had questioned whether some United fans "can spell football never mind understand it" and suggested that they were more interested in eating prawn sandwiches than watching the game. Ferguson was more diplomatic but the United manager was clearly angered, drawing a direct link between the poor atmosphere and a laboured performance from his team.
"It was so quiet," he complained. "I don't think that helped us. The players need the crowd sometimes but the atmosphere inside the ground wasn't good. It's all right saying the players have to make the crowd respond but there are some situations, like today, when we need them to get behind us and give us a lift. The players need the crowd to respond and vice versa. But it was dead."
Ferguson has complained in the past about foreign supporters on day trips harming the atmosphere at Old Trafford, saying his team had more backing in away games. "There have been periods like this before," he continued. "It's not just today, it happened a few years ago as well when we were the dominant team in the league. The crowd come to be entertained but sometimes we need them to help us get the right kind of performance.".
I reckon it's just to do with taking some pressure off of the team. It's been a tough week or two with some pretty poor performances and the Christmas scandal.

hes still young...hell have dozen of knee jobs in 10 years time.
Sir Alex Ferguson can be certain he will be linked with a number of top transfer targets this month, but he can at least look forward to having one more world class player at his disposal in January.
Paul Scholes says he is on course to return at the end of the month to aid United’s Premier League title ambitions.
The influential 33-year-old midfielder has started running again after spending over two months on the sidelines following knee ligament surgery.
“I’ve started running now,” said Scholesy. “I’ve got these next few weeks to get as fit as I can, so hopefully I’ll be fresh when I come back. It’s a couple of months since the operation now and everything seems to be OK. I’m on track to return at the end of January or the start of February.”
Scholes sustained the injury during training before the Champions League Group F clash with Dynamo Kyiv in October. “I felt something during the training session but I managed to carry on,” he explained. “It was only really the next day that I thought there might be a problem and a scan showed that I had ruptured my lateral ligament in my knee, which is an injury that doesn’t often occur.”
It's not been an easy few months for Scholes, who admits he isn’t the best spectator. “It’s been frustrating for me,” he concedes. “I still see all the games, but it does get a bit boring just watching because all you want is to be out there playing. But I know that I have to be patient and hopefully I'll be back playing soon.”
The Salford-born midfielder will be looking at a possible return in the league matches against Portsmouth (30 Jan) and Tottenham (2 Feb) depending on how this next stage of his recovery goes.
Can't wait for his return, we are a totally different side when he's playing. Saying that I don't want him rushed back as a reoccurance would probably put him out for the rest of the season which is the last thing we need.
A clever little player, Scholes is.
Today just showed how much we miss Rooney and Scholes, going forward we had no cutting edge until Rooney came on. Thankfully the defence is rock solid.

No, you're wrong there. Liverpool do actually have a divine right to success. It's in the bible.Depends how you define size really, as if it was based on support then we'd be right up there, but unfortunately it isn't. We do have a huge tradition, unfortunately this stems back more than 50 years. Along with a lot more clubs as well.
What a lot of our fans don't seem to realise is they have been spoilt by both Keegan and Robson, and that football started prior to 1992.
Unfortunately at this moment in time I can't say I have an answer to your question, something however I will ponder on my return from the pub either today or tomorrow.
vanNistelrooy
12-01-2008, 20:03
You do that, I'll await your reply ;)
Also, who do you think should take over?
Further to my comments, I would also like to add, we prior to the '92 era and the whole change in ethos in the country and our fans being spoilt. We sold Gazza, Beardsley and Waddle to the top tear teams in the country, in today's market that's at least £60 million worth of talent, at least. Especially when you look at their skills, all of them are Englishmen, with amazing technical ability, unlike the current crop we have now.
I still really can't comment on the size of the club, it's just not something I can pinpoint on, as from the mid/late 70's to the early 90's we vastly underachieved, despite having as we do now massive crowds, but we also had a terrible board back then as well. I really still can't say how much of a big club we are, the only thing that separates us and all the teams that have been around us, your Man City's etc is that we have challenged for the title since the "Premiership" era, and that we actually have massive crowds all of the time and don't use a public address system to pump out an atmosphere.
For taking us over, that's another thing I really can't say, as I'm still in shock over the departure and the timing of such an event. In reality I would like someone like a Van Gaal, although I do honestly feel our players do not have the technical or tactical ability to fit into the ethos that Van Gaal installs into the system that his players work under.

One of Tevez' goals was the result of shit defending. :( Also, I think, the Ferdinand goal was not offside.
Glad, Ronaldo scored a hat trick! I wonder what his mother will have to say!
