Shouldn't have pissed away £30m on Shevchenko then!
With the size of your transfer kitty every window you have no excuse not to have enough cover for every position on the pitch. That said, the signings you have made haven't had such an impact as ours has.
For next season you need to get rid of Drogba. Although he can have great games, and they're usually against the big teams, his ego is damaging your team and you're not winning some games that you should be winning comfortably.

Lol, come on! It was a freak situation where all four of our centre-backs were out, 2 keepers got injured in one game etc. That was just our luck at the time - ANY team in the world would struggle. Not to mention losing all their vital players for a significant period of time at important times of the season. I'm not even using this as an excuse (maybe a testament to how well we did, but not an excuse), but no-one on earth could have predicted the crisis at the start of the season.
I honestly believe that United have had a fair bit of luck the last two seasons. I know im clutching at straws and sounding bitter but if we had a fully fit squad for the majority of the season we would have won the league.
We've hardly played with our preffered back 5 (Cech included) and I think that played a huge factor in our performances.
We have played less Premiership football with our preferred back line as Neville has been out all season. That's our captain too, I doubt any other teams would of managed to do so well. Also we spent a lot of the season with only two fit strikers.
Every team has had injuries, if Arsenal didn't lose Eduardo and Sagna they would probably of done much better.

I agree to an extent, but the main problem with that is "if"" he can stay fit. Not worth the risk to be honest I don't think, especially if we can manage to get another striker who doesn't have a track record of injuries, we already have Saha.

well like dundon's said, it aint as if we would miss him if hes injured and i agree that he would get alot of rest due to the size of our squad. i think fergusson should gamble, i mean he could be useful for those games were we need a result, like the middlesro' game, we could have used him to poke in that last goal we needed. i mean having two strikers that are very simmilar is pointless, and if we want rooney to find his form again then hes going to need a partner were he can feed off the loose balls and get a bit of link up play going.
Fabiano is owned by MSI, the same guys who own Tevez so the £7m we've heard about would be to Sevilla, fuck knows how much MSI would want.
I wouldn't mind keeping Saha but we need to bring in a new striker still, hopefully Huntelaar will join the team he supports...

Owen will score goals anywhere. You and a couple others were so critical of him, he then went on a scoring run, hes proved people wrong his whole career. He would succeed at Man Utd.

I don't think I ever said he wouldn't succeed at Man Utd, my post certainly never said that, he deserved criticism at the time, he missed some absolute sitters. He's paid enough to score goals, yet some of the chances he missed were appalling.
He isn't the type of striker that they need though, they need someone with a bit of presence, something different to what they have got, they've already got two small strikers in Rooney and Tevez.
I'm quite surprised you haven't come on here to gloat like you normally do, oh no wait that was a dig at me for criticising Owen, so you possibly have.
vanNistelrooy

Keegan has put him in a role that has benifit your team. Its not a sustainable if want to achieve anything next year. Owen proved himself to have good link up play but he will always be an out and out striker.
Criticising a player is one thing but you lot laid all the blame on him and suggesting he was finshed. That has been proven to be wrong and therefor cannot be justified.
They do lack a big striker but that isnt necessarily what they need. Firstly Rooney has more presence than Van Nisterlrooy and without a big striker the have been more successful. I would say its more important that the next Man Utd striker has good movement and comfotabl linking play together.
And I wasn't gloating, it seemed like you were writing him off again (I see you were not doing that) so I was reminding you what happened the last time you did that. If I was going to gloat the time to do that would have been when he scored 6 in 6 immeadiatly after you wrote him off.

We seriously don't need another midget up front. If we need to change styles to get goals againt teams who sit back, then there's nothing better than a big lumbering forward...

Maybe not as an out-and-out striker, but then again that isn't his role. How often did you see Ruud track back, play a playmakers role or even on the left wing? Rooney is a completely different type of player so it's really an unfair comparison.

So by relying you mean, we depend solely on one person to get our goals and no-one else? Yes he's scored most of our goals but contrary to popular belief, Tevez and Rooney are equally as important as Ronaldo. Whenever we need a goal desperately Tevez is the one who steps up and scores important goals where he has either won us a game or got us some vital points, something Ronaldo hasn't done. Rooney can also change a game in an instant, go back to the FA Cup match against Villa, 0-0 with 20 minutes left, once Rooney was brought on we were a completely different team and ended up winning 2-0. Whenever Rooney is absent we are not the same team and we end up losing. The Rooney and Tevez partnership is at 37 goals which is a healthy figure for strikers who are not genuine goal scorers, so to say we are a one man team is absurd.

Spot on; they are doing an amazing job, that's if not a better one than Ronaldo on the field.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Rooney isn't playing in one of his favorite positions, and let's admit it, he's doing a great job at it. He's giving the team more, and if you look at the of assists he has got, it's I think the best of his team.

As I say, he's world-class; and definitely one of the best around at what he did. I completely disagree that he was a huge presence though, he was hardly a player they could pump the ball up to and he'd be able to boss the defenders about or run them ragged.
He would, however, put the ball in the back of the net consistently and have a big knack for being in the right place at the right time, but I definitely don't see him as an outlet.
No-one's debating who's the better player (although it's hard to compare), but Ruud clearly just isn't that type of player.

Any player who scores 25-30 a season subsequently demands explicit attention from defenders. Is this not presence? Great players demand attention and respect, nay fear, from their opponents regardless of any limitations in their game.
Did Pele have presence? Of course he fucking did, but he couldn't tackle for shit and was quite lazy, also helped by being in an amazing national side. Eusebio? The guy was packed with presence, but he was a one trick pony. Get ball, score. The list could go on.
Ruud's ability to read the game, along with his build made him an excellent target man and we'll be hard pressed to replace that quality.

Hmm that Ronaldo interview last night, it reminded of one Henry did before he moved to Barca when he was saying "Im happy here, for now I'm an Arsenal Player "
I think most United fans are honestly resigned to the fact that one day he will leave for Spain or Italy. All that can really be done is enjoying every game he plays for United and hoping to hell that it isn't this summer that he leaves. I've said all season long that the Premier League is the one that I want to win... it's the true test of a side's quality and the team who finishes the 38 games at the top of the league is the best side in the country at the end of the year, simple as. That said, I fear we NEED to win the European Cup if we want to keep watching the likes of Nani, Anderson and Ronaldo for more than the next couple of years. Whether winning in Moscow will be enough to achieve this, especially in Ronaldo's case, remains to be seen but if he leaves there aren't many better sides he can choose than the league and European champions.
Moving onto Pique's departure... it's a shame. He looked to be a promising player and we needed cover for Rio, Vidic and Wes. That said, if Pique leaving means that the priority and funds are both there to sign a first choice right-back in the summer, then it may not be a bad move. Although the likes of Lahm and Alves haven't been linked, a Wes Brown (who has been impressive this season) providing cover for one of those two and Rio would be a good amount of depth to boast going into the new campaign.
I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said regarding Sunday. Brilliant result and a fairly solid performance too, especially in the second half. Now reds can bask in Sunday's glory for another good... well 2 days before the nerves start kicking in. For me at least, this title will be a slightly phyrric victory if we don't make it a domestic and european cup double on Wednesday because honestly, this United side is the best in the country by a fucking mile. Proof of this is in our performances against the top sides this season bar Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. I've said it time and time again, but this is the best United side I've ever seen in my lifetime, and having got over that previously impossible European semi-final step, if we don't win in Moscow then... well I don't even want to contemplate it.

Worst case scenario is £100mil in the bank. That's if Real actually have the cash...
If we win on Wednesday hopefully it convinces Ronaldo to stay but on the other hand he might feel he's achieved everything in England and decide to move on. I'm praying it's the former.
I don't see him leaving for next season. But I do think he will be in Spain while he is playing at his peak.

i rekon ronaldo will stay at united for at least 2 more seasons before he decides to show what he can do else were. i think he needs to work on his confidence before he moves to a bigger side such as madrid, when i say confidence i mean he doesnt realy perform to the standard hes shown when he plays in big games. once hes overcome that then i dont see any excuse for him to turn down madrd etc. its sad to say and i hate the fact it might happen because hes done alot for united, but life goes on and im sure anderson and/or nani will become another great set of players for us.

Vidic had better hope that Drogba doesn't react like he did in the Semi-finals.
So, the big day is approaching and I'm beginning to shit myself. Expected formations? I reckon the 4-5-1/4-3-3 will be on show like this,
-------------------VDS-------------------
---Brown------Rio-------Vidic-------Evra--
----------------Hargreaves----------------
------------Carrick-------Scholes-----------
-Ronaldo------------------------------Park-
------------------Rooney-------------------
I don't think Nani or Giggs will start ahead of Park as he has been superb in the CL and his work rate will be needed. Tevez and Nani will most likely be used as impact subs if needed, Fletch will probably get on too just to run his ass off.
The work rate of Tevez is no worse than Park's and he has more ability too. He should start ahead of Park, in my opinion.
I agree on both accounts but looking at the teams we've put out in the CL this season I doubt Tevez will start. He has been used as a sub mostly, I would hate to see Rooney stuck out on the wing too. Although with the constant switching that will no doubt happen somewhen in the match.
As long as we play 4-4-2 i'm happy, but I can't see that happening.
If Park plays instead of Tevez it will be a bold sign from Ferguson about how worried he is about Chelsea, rather than taking the game to them.

Not really, as after the whole thing, we received a red card. We did behave very immature though, as we had done exactly what Tevez done to us, twice to you. If we had just behaved appropriately, Drogba would have still have been on the pitch and then who knows what would have happened.

Really when he said that it'd didn't seem too 100% to me then he walked away as fast as he could. He's won everything he can with Man U apart from the World Club Championship, I think he'll leave.
He says he's going to discuss his future next week and everyone will be satisfied. :/
If he does say he's interested in a move then we should at least put up some fight for his signature. Last thing I want to do is see him in a Real shirt, I can see the ads now. Everywhere.

If he does decide to leave now that he has won everything with United, which i doubt, i'm sure he'll do the sensible thing and come to Barcelona.
Who wouldn't want to see Ronaldo and Messi playing together? C'mon.

The fact Tevez touches his neck makes me think something has happened.
Stella also pointed out that Drogba spits on Tevez, and it's to this Tevez feels something.
Terry is just as guilty however.

I disagree. I only see him leaving United for Madrid. Sorry.
I think he'll be at United next season though.

I just don't think we have the finance to compete with Madrid. We're useless when it comes to selling players and I'm not sure how much we have to spend anyway.

And what's the reasoning behind that?
Anyway, Nereida is from Mallorca, which means she is pretty much Catalan. :)

We have money, plus we're selling Ronaldinho, Zambrotta, Deco and, most probably, Eto'o.

They are the only team showing serious interest in him - though being Madrid, they have gone about it the wrong way. His mother wants him to join them. And no offence, but Madrid are on the up, whilst no one knows where Barcelona stands.

Dinho and Zambrotta are a season overdue and we'll be lucky to get 30 million for the both.
Seriously we're useless when it comes to selling players.

apparently real madrid are going the sneakey way around things. according to skysports news, real are talking to his family, going straight to the glazers and completely cutting out ronaldos agent as well as fergusson because they say they dont want to wast time blah blah blah
seriously i would be happy for ronaldo if he goes to madrid to win more trophies because he has to be one of my fav players to ever play for united. but if madrid get him this way then i will have no respect for him what so ever, its just unfair to fergusson if the glazers make him sell his prised asset. still me losing respect for him wont make a scrap of difference, i just hate to see a team like madrid using dirty tactics to get their own way.

Various sources have said that Barcelona are waiting to see what Ronaldo decides to do. Then they will make a move, unlike that presumptuous fool.

Which is a perfectly good reason and time for Ronaldo to make a move to Barcelona.

Yea, but add to that 30 another 20, from Eto'o's sale, and a similar sum for Deco, and we've got Ronaldo's bid.
Definitely Maybe

I agree - however it's not like Man United haven't tapped up players in the past is it...

Maybe so, but we don't openly try to unsettle a player and the club unlike Calderon who claims Kaka is one step away from signing for Real Madrid or I want Fabregas constantly despite both saying they want to stay at their current clubs. We are far from perfect but thats unprofessional.

I don't see how any fan can be happy to see their best player leave.
i didnt mean i would be happy to see him go. i meant i would be happy for him because at the end of the day its his decision and hes done alot for united and won all he can.
but it turns out he wants to stay anyway :)
Rio Ferdinand compared the European Cup to a Chocolate Orange.
"Its not Terry's, its mine".
I don't see how any fan can be happy to see their best player leave.
It depends how you look at it, you can't argue with his qualities but his demeanor and sportsmanship on the pitch is questionable at best. Now I'm somewhat idealistic when it comes to football, so its not the average football fans view.
If you want to win trophies then obviously, you shouldn't sell him.

would the average fan view goals as bigger priority than demeanor?
EDIT: Has anyone been following the reserves, firend of mine ha Setanta and consequently has MUTV, watched the senior cup final at old trafford and Possebon was quite good. Would be hard to break Carrick, Scholes, Hargreaves and Anderson but i reckon he could have a solid run out next season.

Goals, and subsequently trophies, yes. I can't blame them, but I prefer my team to be without such players. Unfortunately my team isn't without those kind of players.

Anyone has downloadable videos of the celebrations? I'm looking for the one with Vidic wearing a policeman's hat.

Just seen that my hometown team Cardiff have signed Tom Heaton loan for the season. What's your thoughts on him? Is he better than Enckleman?
