I think maybe we should offer cash + Saha for Berbatov..that way Spurs will have another striker...the only problems being that he'd probably never actually be available for them and would most likely fail a medical.

And that Spurs wouldn't entertain the idea of taking on Louis Saha when he can't string 5 games together, let alone score enough goals. His career went downhill when he left Fulham.

Obviously Spurs would have to be mental to touch Saha but one can only hope. To be fair he did have alot of injuries whilst at Fulham so it wasn't like he joined Utd and then became injury prone!

Been happy first half, we set out to rile you and we're certainly doing it. You've looked very good in some small passages of play though. I think we can all agree Kaboul is truly shite.
Yeah that Kaboul is carrying on from where he left off at Spurs. Crouch and Defoe aren't really causing too much trouble. You could do with some creativity.

Ferguson cools Berbatov rumours
Dimitar Berbatov's hopes of a move to Manchester United look to be fading after Sir Alex Ferguson said he was "less optimistic" about new signings.
The United boss, who had a £20.5m bid for the striker rejected, was uncertain whether he would boost his squad before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
"I'm less optimistic so we'll carry on," Ferguson said.
"I've no idea what's going on. It's very hard to get communication with some people in life."
Berbatov has made no secret of his desire to leave White Hart Lane but Tottenham are determined that their £30m price-tag will be met.
United are unlikely to be pushed into paying over the odds and Ferguson may be prepared to miss out on Berbatov.
£30m is steep and we know that Fergie can be stubborn, offer them £24m and if they don't accept then they can fuck off. We have Rooney, Tevez and Campbell coming through with Ronaldo coming back soon. We can also play Giggs in the role behind the striker if times get rough, so it's not all gloom and doom. Tell them to fuck off now, and offer £20m in January, they'll bite our hand off then.
I don't know man. I really do think you guys need a striker. Ronaldo is going to have to have a blinder of a season if he wants to come anywhere close to last season. Not sure if Campbell can hack it with the big boys. Giggs is running out of steam. If you don't get a striker then I see Chelsea taking your title.

Everton have agreed to sign Louis Saha, subject to the Manchester United striker passing a medical.
United have accepted an undisclosed fee for the injury-prone striker, who moved to Old Trafford from Fulham in 2004.
Saha has agreed a two-year contract at Goodison Park, with the option of a further 12 months.
He must now pass a medical to become David Moyes' third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Lars Jacobsen and Segundo Castillo.
The France international has scored 42 goals in 124 appearances for United since his £12.8million switch from Fulham.
However, his time with the Red Devils has been beset by injury problems and he has not figured for the champions this season.
His last appearance for United came in March against Bolton and he started only six games in the Premier League last term.
Saha's imminent exit is likely to intensify United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's search to bring in a new striker before the transfer window closes.
Knowing Saha he'll probably fail the medical
Fuck me, you'd have to be semi-retarded to give him a two year deal, he can't stay fit for goodness sake.

thats IF saha passes a medical....which is like a 34% probability. Surely with this berbatov MUST come...or even KJH. I squirm at the idea of only Rooney and Tevez as our real recognised strikers.
It's a shame about all of the injuries as he's the sort of player that we really need right now. He had a brilliant start too and I thought we had a great player on our hands, but the injuries are just too much and he has become more of a problem than a solution too our striker problems.
Hopefully we will get to see some of the youngsters play tonight, would love to see a bit more of Rafael, Fabio, Possebon, Evans and Campbell.
wrathchild_uk
29-08-2008, 13:53
Yea but even with having Saha we've still technically only got 2 strikers, its not as if him leaving is going to make a difference as he's never fit anyway. Hopefully though this will encourage Fergie to really make an effort to sign a replacement.
There is no doubt in my mind that Fergie has a target lined up for real now, the only other explanation is that he's willing to risk it. He must have amazing confidence in Campbell to do so, would be great to see him rise to the challenge though. Hope he does play at least 30 minutes tonight.

Man. United very disappointing tonight, they looked shaky and couldn't keep possession and in the end Zenit were deserved winners.
Gary Neville did have a night to forget. It amazes me why he kicked the ball out for the corner (which led to Zenit's 1st goal) when he was alone and had lots of time to pick a pass or simply boot the ball to safety. The defense was very shaky and didn't close Danny down. Tevez was brilliant tonight and was easily the best player for United, he was the only player who really got stuck in and worked his best for the team.
I was expecting a easy win for United tonight but I underestimated Zenit and they have some really good players. They could cause some upsets in their Champions League group with Real Madrid and Juventus.

if my experiance in playin fm tells me anythin..the player can still reject the contract thus collapsing the deal. We should of charged everton at least 5m for Saha, would solved for the discrepancy in valuation.
Its pretty annoying how shCity is doing this however...it seems like we are poor and cant afford to raise that 5M.

Reds sign Berbatov
Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Dimitar Berbatov.
The Bulgarian international striker, 27, has signed a four-year contract after joining from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.
As part of the deal, United striker Fraizer Campbell will spend the rest of the 2008/09 season on loan at White Hart Lane.
Upon becoming a United player, Dimitar told ManUtd.com: "Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me. I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come."
Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to finally capture the elegant striker and admitted: "This is a key signing. Dimitar is one of the best and most exciting strikers in world football.
"His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I’m sure he will be a popular player with the fans."

I'm hardly the expert on United's first eleven, but I'd kick Nani out for sure. If all players stay fit (and they won't) then obviously Ronaldo has to play as well as Tevez, which leaves you with Rooney (great player but certainly different from what you would have expected from him after Euro 2004) and Berbatov. You could play all four of them together, but that might be too risky for Ferguson.

The new owner of Manchester City, Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, has intimated that Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG) could back a £135million bid for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo in January.
The agreement of an ADUG takeover deal at Eastlands was announced on Monday and was followed by the shock capture of Real Madrid forward Robinho for a British record fee of £32.5million.
Chief executive of Hydra Properties, Al-Fahim is reportedly 10 times richer than his counterpart at Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, and he has revealed there are plans to bring in a 'minimum 18' players to the club.
"Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious," Al-Fahim said in The Guardian.
"Real Madrid were estimating his value at $160million (£90m) but for a player like that, to actually get him, will cost a lot more; I would think $240million (£135m). But why not? We are going to be the biggest club in the world, bigger than both Real Madrid and Manchester United."
It is also reported City will look to target the likes of Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas as the club aim to build a side capable of achieving success in Europe's most prestigious competition.
Al-Fahim added: "We want a team who can win the UEFA Champions League. We're not just going to spend money on anyone, but if we can get the biggest players in the world, and of course if the manager wants them, then we will get them."

It depends. Say if we finish top 4 either this season or next, (I'm not saying we will) being in the Champions League will attract more and probably bigger players. When Abramovich took over Chelsea, they were already in the Champions League, so could attract the likes of Makelele, Crespo, ect. haha that would be awesome.
Liverpool have never scored when Rio and Vidic have played and it's like 4 years since a Liverpool player has even scored against us, 6 years since they've beaten us at Anfield. They're so overdue a win.
Liverpool are overdue a 19th league title as well. Not going to happen anytime soon either though.
I hope it ends in a draw. I know it is still very early in the season, but these are games where you hope both of the competition can drop points in, so a draw would be nice.

I reckon it'll finish 0-0 or 1-1.
Although Dimi banging in a hat trick wouldn't go a miss.
United will win quite comfortably.

I have a bad feeling about everyone's optimism, we often drop points then.
Phatmann, you the usual pessimistic, are you as optimistic as well?

I think it will be a convincing win for United unless Liverpool put 10 men behind the ball and play like Fulham or Hull or Wigan. Then there will be a small difference. maybe 1-0 or 0-0 in that case.

Excuse me, Fulham have a reputation for attacking football (not so much under Sanchez), especially against the bigger teams.

In Hull's first game in this league, they played very attacking football.
I find this offensive.

I think we wont score more than 2. Without Torres and possibly Gerrard it is hard not to be optimistic.

Fucking idiot!! Wigan won't play 10 men behind the ball against Hull ffs!! I mean how they play against top four opposition. Papa and CC, I apologize. Everyone else gets my point though about Liverpool, right??

can you take this somewhere else please.
It's just a misunderstanding, in which everyone made a joke about.
I know what you mean by you saying that Liverpool will play defensive, but to be honest I can't really see that since they're at home. I can see us winning 2-0, but not as comfortably as the score suggests, I believe there will be a few close calls. Although if we have a back 4 of Brown, Rio, Vidic, Evra, I can't see them having much luck, especially if Torres is out.

I think we'll be the one that plays defensively, just like we did for the past 2 years. I do hope that Torres is out so we'll be playing against 9-men as Gerrard usually doesn't turn up.

Indeed.
I just think Gerrard can't face the humiliation in this fixture again. :shifty:

rather upbeat about this weekend seeing as how brilliant rooney played last night. I had visions of Berbatov in place of Walcott.
Gerrard and Torres fit, who would have thought.
