Hey, seasons greetings to all.

I am investing in a new high spec gaming PC from PC World for Christmas. Its the Ipower 8620. Specifications are available here : http://www.packardbell.co.uk/products/desktops/ipower/ipower-8620-/productsheet-PB84107201-43.html

Because my current PC is a bit old now and struggled coping with the capabilities of the last game, let alone this one.

I asked one of the tech guys at PC World and they said the game would run fine on it and then some as it is one of the best gaming pcs around, but i keep hearing about problems with PES running on Windows Vista and im a bit worried about spending so much money and then not being able to play it come Christmas Day.

I was just wondering if someone could reassure me about this, would i be better off asking for Windows XP with my new PC rather than Vista or what ?

All help appreciated, thanks.

I use Windows Vista and have absolutely no problems but without blowing my own trumpet, I'm comfortable with PCs and workarounds to problems I may encounter.

RAM: Fine. 2GB is pretty much ideal for gaming and coupled with Vista is really what you need.

Processor: Fine. Quad-core 2.4Ghz although PES is certainly not programmed to utilise four cores, possibly not even two. A dual core would suffice if you don't play other high spec games or do much encoding or rendering.

Graphics: Doubtful. The 8600 is alright but I highly doubt PES is programmed to take advantage of SLi meaning that only one of the cards will be working with the game. The other will sit there having a coffee. If you play other high spec games you'd surely want a single 512MB 8800GT. Part of the issue here is my belief that none of the PES games have ever been well written on the PC, causing graphic problems when they need not do so.

Everything else is fine.
