My sister is after a wireless USB adapter to connect to our router downstairs. I would recommend my Netgear WG111T to her but I've read that there can be compatibility issues when it is installed on an AMD powered system, which she has. Assuming this is correct, would anyone be able to recommend another adapter that won't cause such problems?
My first search found the Netgear WG111. I'd personally stick with a Netgear one on the basis that you're a Netgear adapter which works well (albeit not for her) and there's less likely to be any sort of complications between two Netgear adapters over one Netgear and one say, Belkin (who I don't like).

So it's likely only to be a compatibility problem specific to the model, rather than Netgear products as a whole? That being the case, the WG111 would be fine, I'm sure. Thanks for your help, Sir.

I've never heard of the issue as a problem with Netgear as a whole which I expect I would have were that to be the case. The WG111 should be fine as you say.
Sweey, I don't like Belkin either due to the poor reliability of their products, whom do you prefer Netgear or Linksys?
I'd always go for Linksys but that's because I've been using a Linksys wireless router for three years now with little to no problems. Belkin are a shambles as far as I'm concerned.

I'd agree with that exactly, however I'm hearing more and more people who aren't fans of Linksys and rave on about Netgear, who while good aren't up to Linksys' standard in my eyes.
i have a Belkin ADSL Modem with a Wireless G Router and this has no connection problems.

Really?
From what I've seen posted on forums and user review sites, the newer generation of Netgear Routers seem to be very unreliable.
I have heard horror stories about the Netgear DG834G and DG834GT Routers. People have reported that these Routers have been developing severe mechanical problems 1-2 years after buying them all ranging from a faulty power cable/overheating to faulty RJ-45 ports/faulty modem and blown circuits and the Wireless transmitter dying. And there seems to be a lot of people reporting these problems too.
If I'm being completely honest, I haven't heard these sorts of stories about the other major players in the Networking market. For me, if It came down to a choice between buying a Linksys Router or a Netgear Router, then I would always choose the Linksys Router simply because they seem to make more reliable networking equipment and their reputation is huge - much bigger than Netgear's reputation. I don't think Netgear have been around for half as long as Linksys has. I mean, Linksys is a part of Cisco Systems which (correct me if I'm wrong) have been established for about 20 years now.
