Aside from my big phobia of spiders, i've recently developed a fear of tall buildings. I mean, looking at/up them rather than actually being on top of them. When i went to London the other week it wasnt great fun getting off the tube at Westminster and seeing Big Ben.

I dont know why i have got this fear now, its stupid and very annoying.

Anyone else got any silly fears or phobias?

i used to be shit scared of dogs. until we bought and my mum left me and the new dog in the back of her land rover on the drive home. i'm not scared now :)

apart from that i don't really have any phobias

unless my girlfriend on the "bad week" counts.............

Deep water. I can swim perfectly well but deep water scares the shit out of me if I don't know what's underneath.

Bath/house spiders. I'd rather a tarantula on me cock than have on of these running about my bedroom.

Ah, deep water for me is a no-no. I think its probably because i didnt leanr to swim until i was 11, and although im a good swimmer over short-distances, i never had the confidence to swim in deep water when i was younger so i dont now.

The spiders with long legs and small bodies, or even dead spiders, are the worst. When you see a spider which is rigid and upside-down, my back tingles just thinking about them.

The sea, I've explained it before in a different thread. Although on my last summer vacation I did enter the water until my knees only before gazing at the horizon, found there was little land in sight, and returning safely to my seat by the pool where my cocktail was getting warm.

Is there any explanation for the source of phobias?

Many seem to be 'inherited' from parents, or gained through traumatic experiences as a child. I think my fear of spiders comes because my mum doesnt like them either. But she is much better about it as i wont enter a room with a spider in until i know its gone.

And i would be terrified in New York with all those skyscrapers lol.

I've got a deep fear of my belly button being touched/probed.

It used to be a mild fear when younger, but the release of the matrix (that scene where the scorpion, or whatever it is, enters through the navel) also roughly co-incided with my friends discovering my fear.

That was a horrible couple of years.

Fortunately my friends are either now too mature to try and poke me in the belly button, or they've learned that I lash out uncontrollably....and violently :ninja:

Evidently you've never met Branigans, McCoys or Smith's Bacon Fries.

And Snakes. I've no reason to encounter them though, which is good.

To be fair I do love McCoys although I can eat a whole big bag of Sensations and thats quite an achievement for a skinny cunt like me.

My worst fear would be stranded in a strange place, where I know nobody and I have no way of getting home or going somewhere I'm familiar with.

I've had nightmares about this shit. It's not very nice.

I don't particularly like spiders. I can stand to be in the same room as one - as long as it's not massive - but if it comes near me or somewhere like my bed or desk, it has to die. Snakes are another phobia, although I did recently hold a hefty Boa constrictor, which has left me feeling less bothered about them.

I also hate the idea of deep water for the same reason that God gave. I went snorkelling a few times on the Great Barrier Reef a couple of years ago and on one occasion there were loads of dark expanses amidst the coral, which made me feel really uneasy.

Heights scare me too. I'm fine inside tall buildings and planes but my balance tends to go if I'm near the edge of a large drop or on walkways that allow you to see down through.
