Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

Anybody ever found themselves on the wrong side of their landlord or have you ever had a nice landlord?

Ever been evicted or had words with your landlord?

Ever been screwed out of money by your landlord or ever screwed your landlord over for money?

I'v found myself on the wrong side of my landlords many times and have even found myself on the wrong side of my friends landlords, I had one landlord call me a cunt over the phone needless to say I never seen him after that :realmad:

I hate landlords with a passion, I hate them more than fat people and thats saying something

I got screwed over by my landlord last year. He's a fraudulent bastard who has been screwing over a fair few students in Aber for several years now. He invented problems with our flat at the end of last year that cost my flatmates and I a considerable amount of our deposit. Needless to say, if I'd have known about his record earlier I wouldn't have signed the contract. On the plus side, I was reading an article on him somewhere and it stated that some angry student had fire-bombed his boat in retaliation. I lol'd.

My current landlord is a nice, honest guy. He's also a local councillor so theoretically he can't screw us over. If he tried, I imagine the press would like to hear about it.

man my landlord is awesome... we're both brazilian, so speaking the same language helps, plus he lets me pay on the tenth... which in my business helps out alot... all in all the last four years I had to worry more about roommates than landlords

Well thats one way to get revenge

Also nice move with the new landlord as you said it wouldnt be in his best interest to screw you over ;)

I've never got back my deposit in all the places i've lived but in saying that most of the time its me screwing them over. In my first ever apartment I was evicted and the landlord tried to screw me over which resulted in him not being paid three months rent. :ninja:

Ever since then i'm half expecting to be screwed by landlords so I take measures to prevent it like not paying my last months rent and telling my landlord to keep the deposit, this prevents them from screwing you for damages

I've had 2 different landlords, both of which have been brilliant, I can't complain about anything. The last one paid me a visit when my rent didn't go through, he sat with me and we had a talk, a brew and watched some footy on Eurosport, I was having some pretty bad money problems at the time and he deferred 2 months rent for me to help me back onto my feet, I'll never forget that. When I was back up and running again I paid him £890 back, although he never expected it I felt it was rightfully his. Plenty of landlords would have been quick to flash an eviction notice in that situation.

Only every had 1 landlord and he was a mate and I worked with him, he was never there and was never in a rush for the rent, he left us do what we wanted really but we never caused any damage to the house and when I decided to move out he never asked for a penny, we also didnt need to pay a deposite so it was all cool.

Students are easy pickings as most have no real world experience when they first go into rented lodgings.

Depending on the course, some have none when they leave either.

Saying that, after spending some time in Sheffield many years ago, i can understand why landlords treat students like shit. A lot of students treat the houses as party/dumping grounds.
