The game is crap. It has a tendency to freeze if you move between screens too quickly. I ended up having to save after every match, a process that takes roughly five minutes. Estimated I lost 12 hours game time over the weekend. Total pisser.
Taking it back to Game at lunchtime to get a PC based Manager game.

Thanks for the recommendation. I might even forgive you for your team taking Liam Miller. ;)

Ohyesindeedy.
Love the fact that I can start in Scottish Division 3 with Albion Rovers play half a season and then Second Division Alloa head hunt me.
The transfer system is way too realistic. I love that.
I need to get my head round training and using the staff properly. Last night I hired Andy Goram (ex Scotland/Ranger keeper)..what a find. he has 20 for Goalkeeper coaching and 18 for judging ability, 11 for judging potential. Looking to make him my assistant manager.
Training...does that just give temporary benefits or do the players improve permanently? I ask as I have a large number of Under 19s and I am hoping some of them will make it into my reserve team at some point.

well i still don't understand the training, I haven't actually got the game but have played all the champ mans of recent years, and i think u can put any number of u-19's into your reserves by promoting them.

Nope, oh Giggsy11, the u19s are not given that option. I think I saw somewhere that the Assistant Manager identifies ones that can move into the reserves at the end of the season. mmmmmm must check that out.

Correctomundo.
If you rundown your reseve tean, say to save money on wages, the wee buggers start to infiltrate. Thing is they all have stats of 1 so you end up loosing all your reserve matches and the board gets unhappy.

When i start a game with Man Utd i put my whole reserve team up for loan to keep em happy :)

Yeah, but they don't always get taken for loan.
I see you take Man Utd to manage. I did that with Celtic to begin with but it quickly became boring. And larsson scores...And larsson scores...And larsson scores...And larsson scores...And larsson scores...
So I went to our lowest division (3rd) picked a team there and then really had to struggle. Really enjoyed myself ..oh Fuck! Only £425 to spend on transfers!!! aaargh. Plus you have to really control the wage bill.
Man, I love that game.

Yeah, so if Man Utd did fanny pads then you'd use them as well? :D
I just think doing the big club is too simple. I mean the Real Madrid supporter why should he even buy the game. He sits in front of his screen 'mmmmm I got 500 millions euros in the bank, what will I spend it on? mmmm... a player? Nope got all the best ones'
Here is my thinking. The game is called Championship Manager. The title is about management. So play the game to become the best manager..Alex Ferguson rather than Man Utd. The teams are your stepping stones. Start at the bottom and the prize is being asked to manage the biggest club you can. That's the real fun, the constant challenge, that's what will keep me coming back to this game.
Of course, needless to say, the biggest club is....................CELTIC.
