Bit high but not dangerous. My motherboard is constantly 48-51 and my CPU 43 idle and 53 at load which I'm annoyed with as I'm not even overclocking. You could always get a case fan if you're worried, it'll help a little bit but your temperature isn't too bad.

Well i've got space for another fan - it can't hurt adding one when I can get around to it.

Thanks

My processor (and GPU, for that matter) temps regularly get into the 80 degree range while playing Oblivion. Insanity. I wouldn't worry too much, you're at about half the temperature.

It is clear that in single player the game will work just fine. To be honest I never played online because I didn't had an Internet connection at home. I would like to ask you guys if Konami cares about this part of the game. Do they have enough servers? Do the servers have lag? How does the game "move" online? :) If you can not answer here please send me a private message.

Next on my birthday list are stuff to cool the rig. By the end of the year I'll hopefully find out how to overclock my processor. If I'm lucky someone with the same processor and motherboard might be overclocking. :ninja:

I'll use the money I've saved up from before and the money generated for my birthday!

How much they cost you Pique?
Yes Wan. Though barely a few applications take full advantages of the four cores and it's at quite a low clock speed which is why I'll be overclocking it, at latest, at the end of the year. As now, it runs every I throw at it very well.

Nope. I've considered watercooling but don't know enough to trust myself yet and am waiting for Nehalem before upgrading again. My next purchase looks to be a PSU after I finally woke up and realised that they consume less electricity when running at 60-70% load.

Any real reason for this thread? :erm:

Not to sound like a n00b but how do I find my specs. See I'm thinking my PC is a tad bit out of date and I'm thinking of updating it. I was playing a game earlier and noticed all the settings were on low. So, I'm not sure whether to buy a new pc or just buy some more RAM or whatever.

XP instructions:

Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System

The first screen will show your processor (and stock speed) plus the amount of RAM. If you then click on the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager, under Display Adapters you'll find your graphics card.

The only way to find out the capacity of your PSU is to open up your case and read the wattage from the label.

PM me and I'll advise you further once you know the specs.

I have a new PC, and I also have a few questions...

Basic Specs

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ @2.61Ghz
2GB RAM
150GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

How do I find out other specs?

Is this PC any good for gaming?

Do I need to worry about PSU? Motherboard?

How do I check my monitor's true resolution?

Maybe I would be better off PM'ing Sweey...

What other specs would you like to know? You can try this (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) to see if that tells you what you want to know.

The processor is fine for gaming, the RAM is adequate as long as you're only using XP but the graphics card isn't for high-end gaming and may even struggle at mid-ranges. Where nVidia cards are concerned, anything ending in 800 or above is a gaming card. The first number simply denotes the generation of card.

The only way to check the capacity of the PSU is to read the label attached to it. There's no need to worry about the motherboard.

What size is your monitor?

Thanks.

Its 19" (Acer x193w) and has a resolution of 1440x900. Is this a strange resolution?

Not really fussed about the graphics card and high end gaming - i've got a PS3 for that (although I do realise its weaker than many high end PC's) but as long as the PC can cope with 'general' games, its fine.

Basically, I dont plan on playing Crysis.

1440x900 is a widescreen resolution. 1680x1050 is the native resolution of a 20" or 22" widescreen and a 24" is something like 1900x1200.

The PC should be able to play general games fine as long as you're not whacking the anti-aliasing (smoother edges on textures) up too high.

Yeah, I have a 20" (1680x1050) monitor for my PS3, but unfortunately because its not a common resolution for games (like 720 or 1080p) I get aliasing in all games - i'll probably get a proper TV instead of a monitor next time. That being said, I could use my 20" screen for my PC.

Just one last question, is 1440x900 a HD resolution?

Yes, it can handle 1080i and 720i but not 1080p.
