View Full Version : Britains Best Sitcom
How the fuck did The Vicar of Dibley and The Good Life get into the top ten?
Phoenix Nights only 36 and The Office getting beating by Keeping up appearences
Only Fools has surely got to win with Fawlty Towers a close second what do you lot think should win?
Although we in Germany donīt have many movies, sitcoms etc. from Britain I can remember Fawlty Towers, itīs quality, shame nobody showed it here in Germany in the last 4-5 years

Fools & horses, Fawlty towers, League of Gentlemen, Father Ted. all great
I've always thought that league of gentleman was a bit weird and really never thought it was funny but i think that Rab.C Nesbit and Bottom should have been a lot higher then they were!!!!

oooo forgot about Rab C Nesbitt. Grew up watching that with mum & dad. bear in mind im quite young :). Never really liked Bottom, thought it was a bit OTT.
thats what mad it so funny!!
Red Dwarf is a quality one, didn't see this sitcom show but hope it got in there. Phoenix Nights is also sweet.
nobody like my family then or are we going through golden oldies?
its gotta be only fools coz its set around (and features in the theme tune) shepherds bush
We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet tiles,
T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s,
Ball games, gold chains, whatsnames, pictures frames and leather goods,
And Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush,
bush, bush, bush, bush.....
So yeah, listen up nifty- we's world famous we is  pfft what gender is the shepherd, cocky tit
Also father ted and fawlty towers, never saw MASH though i hear its good. Oh and some mothers do av em....is that a sitcom? :D

I don't think the Office was that high up as it hasn't been around for along time and there will have been alot of grannies and grandads voting for all the classics of there day, but i think that only fools and horses should win. :)
I think Fawlty Towers should win, Fools and Horses has went downhill & it ain't as funny as it used to be. Father Ted is a classic & should have been in the top 10 if vicar of Dibley is good enough to get there.
Some mothers do ave em isn't really a sitcom but alot of the programmes listed weren't sitcoms i.e. the office

Only fools anf horses isn't even made anymore..just the odd xmas special whch wern't amazing but all the 'proper' episodes where great, Trigger was amazing.
Trigger: 'Alright Dave?'
Rodney: 'Alright Trigg, what you doing here?'
Trigger: 'Del said he would give me a lift to the pub'
Rodney: 'Oh right'
Rodney: 'Hold on, you live closer to the pub than we do, infact you have to walk past the pub to get to our flat!'
Triger: 'I know but Del said he would give me a lift.'
lol..classic line and from one of the newer episodes. :D
I dunno whose idea it was to make Damien an annoying tit, he's definitely not funny.
I think one of the reasons Fawlty Towers may not win is because it only ran for two series (12 episodes). Has anyone actually seen Yes, Minister? i've only caught it a couple of times & didn't see what is the fuss is about

Only Fools and Horses as to be the best. Timeless classic with some great comedy moments. Such as Del-Boy falling through the bar and most things Trigger says:
"If it's a boy, he's naming it Rodney after Dave.":D
Father Ted should have been in top ten instead ofthe good life and citizen smith should have been in the top 50!!!
