VLC Media Player
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

As far as I am aware, The GIMP (The GNU Image Manipulation Program) is freeware. It offers huge functionality, and an intuitive user interface - I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned, as after the "big boys" (Photoshop etc.) it's got to be leading the chasing pack?

I was told about it by a friend that keeps telling me how great Ubuntu is, so i assumed it was just for the Lynux family.
Norton Internet Security has let me down again

AVG (anti-virus), Spybot (to tackle any spyware elements of the virus) combination. If still unable to clear it, Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx), screenshots and PM's to me.

Try ComboFix as well. That thing will rid your PC of many a threat.
Right, ive got rid of the virus (i think) but because i used AVG it has messed up my Norton Internet Security and now it isnt working, says there is a license problem.
So now im not really protected at all, any ideas? Any other internet securitys i could use?

Anti-virus: AVG or Avast
Anti-spyware: SpyBot and/or AdAware
Firewall: ZoneAlarm or Comodo Personal Firewall
I'm shocked you were going to continue with Norton after this.
I was only going to use it until i can get something else sorted out. Ive got AVG, SpyBot and Comodo installed now.
Cheers for your help Sweey.
I've updated the first post with a great piece of software called Orbit Downloader, which allows you to record videos from sites that don't give out download links.

I've found winpatrol good for removing annoying start up programs and stopping programs adding themselves. Although vista can do this it doesn't let you remove some and winpatrol gives you details of what the programs are.

Anyone know anyone programs that will convert QuickTime files to WMV format, tried a few but no luck.
