I was always holding out that N9UF would once again become our sponsor but Betclic is ok I guess. Better than out current sponsor even if they planted 50 trees for every home goal scored... As it stands Adidas always gives OM some amazing kits and this years is no different. However I will prob be buying the non-tech fit version...

Ah, my bad. When i posted it i did think i'd seen the coloured collar on a previous shirt. I thought they'd just changed the design slightly.

Any how, the new one looks better, the black trim is best.

whats the go with french clubs sponsorship rulings? Aren't they forbidden to use alcohol/betting sponsorships?
It also seems that they have separate sponsorship for Europe and domestic.

Don't think you're allowed any alcohol sponsorship in sports in France. Not sure about betting, but evidence from that it should be okay.

Yeah alcohol is a no no, same in Russia (the irony). I wish we'd go the Unicef route like Barcelona their logo is great but more importantly its all for a great cause.

Not sure about the Shirt makers although we had Umbro before Nike bought them but the Sponsor is due to Old firm teams getting better money as a partnership than having seperate different ones. We also had NTL and CR Smith along with the recent Carling sponsors at the same time so it's nothing new.

There's some hideous shirts this season, especially the Manchester United away shirt (or should I say 1990s Bolton). I do like the Africa kit though (seems strange referring to a kit for an entire continent, but I like it) however if you just bought the shirt it would look awful, I think the whole kit is needed to be able to pull it off.

TH
05-06-2010, 17:08
Here's a little write up about the Africa shirt.

Created by PUMA, and sanctioned by FIFA, it is the first ever continental football kit. It is the official third kit of the 12 PUMA-sponsored African teams including continental champions Egypt, World Cup qualifiers Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Algeria, as well as Namibia, Senegal, Angola, Mozambique, Togo, Tunisia and Morocco.

Produced in conjunction with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) the 'Play for Life' partnership will support the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity by raising awareness about habitat and species conservation.

Its unique colourway is bespoke. The brown pantone was created by mixing actual soil samples from Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Cameroon. The colour gradient transitions from brown to blue is a visual metaphor for soil to sky. All of the applications, the number and the badge, are cast in yellow representing the sun shining down on Africa.

Yet again, the home is all right, but nothing special. As Joel says, having a black away is always cool, but I don't care for the red logo, and it's nowhere near as awesome as the last two aways. The little tag line on both is pretty lame, imo, but not as bad as it looked in mock-ups. Think blue or maybe half-and-half collars would've given them a little more liveliness.

That keeper kit, though! I feel like I'm looking at archival photographs from '93 or something. :^|

I like them, but this is our fourth set of kits in four seasons, which I think is horrible. We're pretty much guaranteed to have a third kit by the looks of it, because the colour choices aren't great, if we're gonna clash with our home kit, I think there's a chance the away one will clash, too.

I'm with Joel on this. I could fathom buying a kit of a lower league team perhaps but never a Premiership side. Overseas teams are fine though. However, I could maybe understand buying a kit of another prem team if I lived abroad, e.g. Australia, but not when you're in the UK.

It doesn't bother me because I'm not a huge supporter of Sunderland or football to begin with, the only thing I really enjoy is playing the game, both on a field and on an Xbox. Watching it bores me, and supporting Sunderland has became so damn predictable in recent years. That said, last season was a less than usual finish, so I'm looking forward to see how next season goes.

The only thing I do with Sunderland is keep up with the team news, go to the occasional game, and criticise Capello when Bent doesn't go to South Africa :P

I also don't see wearing a shirt as the ultimate way to show support for a team, going to home and away games and singing your heart out no matter what the score shows real support, and I just wouldn't do that for any team

All Sunderland, Boro and City strips look genuinely nice. The Boro shirt especially, and from what I've heard, they don't have an official sponsor. The sponsor will be on a month-by-month basis, which means I guess that the shirts have to be sold without a sponsor on the front surely? If so, that would be a hell of a shirt to buy for Boro fans, and would obviously look even better.

I'm with Joel on this. I could fathom buying a kit of a lower league team perhaps but never a Premiership side. Overseas teams are fine though. However, I could maybe understand buying a kit of another prem team if I lived abroad, e.g. Australia, but not when you're in the UK.
:happy:guilty as charged, connosieur of good football kits. However wont buy any club rivals/grudges, West Ham is the only exception.

I agree with what you are saying at the end that real support are those who stay the full 90 minutes come win, lose or draw but I still could never buy another football top from Scotland (apart from the national team of course.)

Well... There are two kits I'd never buy, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, for an obvious reason. But the rest of the teams in the PL I don't see any harm having their shirts, simply because Sunderland are the most inconsistant team and can get beaten or beat (or draw) anyone depending on the day, so there aren't any grudges if you ask me.

The closest outside-the-north-east grudge I can think of Everton because they always seem to beat us, or Wigan because of the Steve Bruce situation

I have two Chelsea kits (one blue, one white) and one Arsenal shirt (last season at Highbury). I also have a fake Juventus shirt and a real Gattuso Milan top.

I would never wear a PSV or Feyenoord shirt, for one they usually look rubbish. A lower division team is cool though, but again, those jersey's kind of suck - they are normally overcrowded with sponsors. Inter Milan is the other exception, that will never happen.

Not a new kit really as it must be a few weeks old, but the picture is hilarious.

I wouldnt mind wearing kits from other leagues, I dont even mind wearing shirts from 'rival' nations. I used to have an Authentic Maradona 10 shirt around the time of the 2006 World Cup. They were quite good in that tournament and scored that great team goal, I used to wear it all the time. Ive never owned an England shirt, I just think they are so common and cheap.

I'd rather eat shit than wear a Spurs or Arsenal top. And this is for anything, a joke or a dare. I wont touch it.

Pretty much the Sunderland away one I posted earlier but I prefer the colours on this one

Just came across Wrexham and Nott Forest's home kits which look really nice, too, imo:

I wear other European club team shirts all the time. I own 2 Milan shirts, an Inter shirt, a Barca shirt and I'm sure i have an old Hamburg shirt somewhere. I don't have any problems wearing other teams kits from abroad, i have only once worn a shirt from the same league, i bought an Aston Villa shirt a while back but i must admit I didn't wear it much, it felt awkward.

It's an interesting question. I think it's very possible that the kit, either of their own team or the opposition, could have a psychological effect on the players, albeit not a very big one, I don't think.

No nonesense, plain looking design with a proper collar by the looks of it.

I do wonder though, with three new kits for the 09/10 season followed by three new looks for the 10/11 with a league and cup sponsor variation what ever happened to a change of home one season, followed by a chang of away the next year. No doubt this new shirt will be accompanied by a yellow away and a navy third.

Under Armor the season after so that'll be another three to charge £40+ for.
