does gtaIV crash ??

I didn't buy the game yet, i have the 60 gb ps3 bundled with resistance, motorstorm and 2 controllers, i heard that the 60 gb suffers the most so i thought to try to figure out some numbers.
If you have solutions or hints just point them out so other people could benefit.

I haven't experienced anything as of yet. But then I don't play it continuously for more then an hour, I'm sure that's what's causing all the problems.

actually people have been reporting crashing while installing the game, during the first movies and even during gameplay from the first 3 secs till 10 mins.

Mine froze a couple of times during cutscenes last night. Because there's hardly load times, it means occassionally it needs to load things seemlessly which is causing 'overloading'. Since it's becoming a big problem for some people, Rockstar may well bring out a patch for it if possible.

It's been an issue lately: Bully and now this ... I hope they fix it soon or it's going to ruin the game for me, i mean i don't mind the game stopping for a couple of seconds to load between missions or whatever but to freeze my system it's completly shit.

I was driving last night and it froze for about 10 seconds but the music kept playing.....after that it came out of it and everything was fine.

I've had it freeze quite a few times actually.

It only freezes during open play and sometimes it'll kick back in, but some imes I have to reset

The thing is lots of people say it's a rare thing to happen, other people on forums say that it's a very common problem and that it does happen and it happen very frequently making the game unplayable for sometime. I just wanted to see the percentage of people owning the game and the freezes they experienced to see whether i should buy it now or wait for an update to fix this. Thanks for anyone who has taken the poll.

Had it stall on 360 during one mission load, had to reset & reload. Other than that it's fine. On Sat it was running from ~6pm until ~2am next morning with no problems. i wouldn't have played for so long, but the noise of the 360 was keeping me awake... honest!!!

I play almost an average of an hour per day, and never encountered any problems..
BTW I have a 60gb PS3.

I've had mine for the 360 since the release and had absolutely no problems. From what I've heard it's something to do with 1080i, thankfully I've played most of mine in 1080p but even when I did try 1080i for a while, there was no crashing/freezing. I just think it's down to sheer bad luck to be honest, usually I'll play GTA for maybe an hour at a time, or 2 hours if it's night and I don't have any work to be done.

I had miner problems with the vehicles & bikes sound..
Yesterday while I got on a bike, and couldn't hear any sound..
It stayed that way for about 20sec. and then it came back..
Other than that no problems.. till now :rolleyes:

i got the game after having enough comments in this thread, i have to say the game runs smoothly for 3 weeks now. No troubles whatsoever. I do have the 60 gb ps3 starter pack that came with resistance and motorstorm. Something weird happened to me once though, i was entering a room and then all the polygons in the game crashed down on me and the camera was inside bellic so i could see his eye balls from inside his body this lasted for 5 seconds then the game got back to normal. Other than that the game has some weird "flaws" like for example when you see a motorcycle waiting for a street light with its front wheel laying on the trunk of a car, and when everybody smashes through light poles and breaking signals with the police standing doing nothing. Other than that everything looks alright.

gta crashed on my ps3 and after that none my games would load up, and i kept gettin an error message. i left my ps3 for a while and then games would load up but after 30 mins of gameplay the game would crash again. when i took my ps3 back to the shop they knew about the problem as i wasn't the only person whose ps3 crashed while playin gta. it had happened to a lot of people. to cut a long story short i had to get a replacement ps3. i don't play gta for more than an hour now.
