Torres has obviously been a fantastic buy but at 20m you'd expect that amount of goals from a forward so I'd have to say Santa Cruz - £3.5M what a bargain he was. The year before they got Benni McCarthy for £2.5M.

Bakary Sagna.
In no particular order:-
Torres
Tevez
Santa Cruz
Carew
Defoe
Kenwyne Jones
(been a bit bias with the strikers, but will amend later)
Torres in terms of quality. Value for money, Santa Cruz.

Whilst the picture was loading, I knew it was going to be him.
If your defensive record had been a bit better this season, I may have agreed with you.
Craig Gordon for Sunderland was a steal and I cant believe none of the big clubs took him.
Also the Scottish full back thet went to Spurs is one hell of a player.
The obvious choice is to say Torres as he has been fantastic but he has to be for the money they spent.
Vidic deserves a mention and the Slovak player for Liverpool - if they were bought this season

Martin Petrov - £4.7m
Roque Santa Cruz - £3.5m
Both excellent pieces of business.

Who was Petrov signed from??
RSC
Torres
Sagna
Hutton
Defoe
Also Elano worked out well too.
Güiza for Mallorca has worked out pretty well. Also Keita for Sevilla has been top class.
Who was Petrov signed from??
Athletico Madrid.
For £2.3m you won't get much better than Carlos Cuellar.

I can tell you right now that Flamini for sweet fuck all is the best signing of next season.
João Pereira and Roland Linz. Shame they'll probably leave at the end of the season.
I suppose Pienaar for £2m is a bargain really.
Torres has obviously been a fantastic buy but at 20m you'd expect that amount of goals from a forward so I'd have to say Santa Cruz - £3.5M what a bargain he was. The year before they got Benni McCarthy for £2.5M.
Mark Hughes keeps doing that. Ryan Nelsen for nothing when he was an unknown, Chris Samba for £400k, David Bentley for £500k etc.

Form a Gunners point of view it'd have to be Sagna, after he limped off against Chelsea our defence fell to shit and still hasn't properly recovered.
But in general I'd give it to Torres, what a player.

Anelka.
Are you for real??
Suljemani to Heerenveen, Suarez to Ajax, Torres to Liverpool (though a cheater pur sang), Sagna to Arsenal, Roque Santa Cruz to Blackburn, Elano to City (at least the first half of the season), Yaya Toure to Barcelona.

I don't think he's the best transfer, however I think Corluka deserves an honorable mention, we paid a little more for him that perhaps we needed to but he's certainly been our most consistent signing

Sagna to Arsenal,
Roque Santa Cruz to Blackburn,
F.Torres to Liverpool,
Yaya Toure has been a good buy for Barca. Torres for Liverpool has been outstanding this season. But value for money i would say either Sagna or Santa Cruz.
Pato of AC Milan. Not seen much but he has potential.

Sanga like Dundon said you can tell how much we've suffered from his absence
Torress, I don't care how much he cost, he still had to peform in the PL and he has done so
S.Cruz - Great season and cost little
Elano - May have faded as the season went on but the guys a success for his first season here.

Yaya Toure has been a good buy for Barca.
Good player him and one I'd of liked to not see slipping the net at Arsenal, we had that boy.

Would have loved Petrov down here for only 4.7m - brilliant player.
I know he was already down on loan, but sealing Antonio Valencia's signature for about 5m wasn't half-bad, he's another player capable of playing at a much higher level.
There's been plenty of great buys this season, Torres has to top the charts though for me simply because he's got so many more years in him at a world-class standard and he's just getting started. I can see him getting better and better over the years if he stays with Liverpool and I'm sure he'll be lingering over the 20+ goal-mark for years aswell.
Honourable mention to Santa Cruz though.
Sebastian Larson - just pick those free kicks out of the back of the net :)
