Usually by this time every year we at least know if the game is coming out and when its release date is. It looks like there might not be a new Pes but maybe Konami are keeping their lips sealed.

Anyone know anything about PES 2009 or has no information been released yet?

well, it's not every year that Konami has a big release like MGS4.

I'm sure we'll hear something very soon once that game is released

Play.com have the game listed but theres no release date. i suppose that confirms there will be a PES 2009 although I never doubted that konami would miss their chance to milk their fans for another year.

You haven't heard anything because PES 2009 is nothing to boast about.. I've heard Konami will use the same engine as in PES 2008, this is another disappointment in the making.

Konami are out of their comfort-zone with the PS3. PES 2009 will be unfinished at best, because they need to go back to the drawing board, start from scratch, and that takes more than a year. Maybe we can expect something good for 2010.

They are going back to the drawing board. So I would guess that it won't be the same engine.

Yeah, that's what I thought too.. I figured that if they were going back to the drawing board and starting from scratch.. Well, I figured they would use a different engine.

However, I've been hearing that PES 2009 will use the same engine as PES 2008. That's a big mistake in my opinion, definitely NOT what I wanted to hear as a PES fan. Hope those are just rumors.

Not arsed about what engine they use, it just needs tidying up in places, and i overhauled ML. More Stats on players perfromance through out a season, goal of the month, make it more like a football programme statistics.

Make some changes that make the game experience enjoyable, not terrible little add ons that really do zero for the game!!!

Just unreliable sources, a couple of people have said the same things in different sites.. This could be rumors, but unfortunately plenty of times this rumors turn out to be true.

I'm going to look for a reliable link, if there is any.

I dont care about about the single player mode. played the master league to death.
they need to sort out the on-line mode.
just now. the players are retards. stupid fuckers that play the ball like they have never seen one before. I am going to wait and see how the new version is rated before splashing out.

Right lads here is the truth. PES will not be released this year hence why no news has happened. The newest PES will come out on March 2009.

My cousin actually has a close inside source on this, and I'm afraid I can confirm this to be true at the moment.

My source is very reliable and actually works in Chiswick for Konami. With all the hype f MGS Konami have decided to actually take some time and work towards a better PES. Kind of like how GTA worked.

Konami appreciate that the last edition was lacklustre and they are hoping with big time and big effort they can recapture the hype and brilliance of old.

Well fair enough then. I'd rather wait for a near perfect football game then another let down.

Exactly Miggy, it will be worth the wait. Why rush to suit the masses when you can just take your time and make perfection once more. I for one am happy to wait provided the wait will pay off.

Well, that's good news in my opinion.. I think they can manage to release a decent Football game for next year. I mean, if they have to basically re-invent PES, they definitely need more than one year.

And of course, it's also nice to know that Konami is willing to take more time in order to release a good game -rather- than just throwing another brick.

By the way, I've been hearing in different sites that Konami 2009 will use the same engine of PES 2008. Do you know if this is true?? Any reliable source?

I think it's back to the drawing board and a huge revamp will take place to bring the ultimate Footballing game back home.

Yeah I've heard that Shingo himself stated in an interview just after PES 2008 was released that PES 2009 would see a complete overhaul. I think I just typed in PES 2009 into the Google bar and it was one of the first links that appeared I believe, although it was a while ago.

I'd much rather have the game released in say December rather than October if it means they get that 2 extra months of fine-tuning etc.
