Great signing for Fulham eyh, papa?

Yeah I'm very happy about that, especially with McBride leaving. Only problem for me is that word has it that the reason the medical took so long was that a problem was found with his knee, so Everton got rid of the 'rising to 12 million' clause. I just know with Fulham's luck he'll get injured within the first five games.

BarnDoor at the end of the day if Keegan wanted him to stay he wouldn't have went. He has shown in the past if you aren't fully committed to the club then you are out. We've seen much better players than Faye go. Yes it is disappointing to see him leave, as him and Colo would have made a cracking pairing. I'd have been much more worried if we hadn't seen someone of Colo's calibre coming in.

I hear there might have been some truth in that argument on the last day of the season, with him being subbed at half time and all. Also hear his injuries were a bit of a concern. Still, a shame, as I always liked the guy, even at Bolton. I'll get over it in a few weeks, or if we don't feel the loss, but its still hard to take right now. Still, hope the cunt breaks his legs in his first game.

We could do with some genuinely scary players at the club again, like Batty. Faye was in that mold. Not shitcunts and fake hard men like Butt, Smith and Barton.

What a strikeforce Milan have again. The fact that Shevchenko didn't perform well in England doesn't show that the Premiership is better than Serie A, if anything it shows what a horrible league it is.

Not quite so funny in the way I've taken it but I get where you're coming from. So Shevchenko failed in England...that simply shows its a different style of play in England to Italy which we all know anyway. He didn't have an equal level of performance in the CL for Chelsea compared to his time at Milan which is down to a number of factors including Mourinho not wanting him in the first place, Chelsea's different system and, possibly, Shevchenko simply not being as good as he was. He lost something in his last year at Milan, unable to control games for 90 minutes anymore but it hadn't, at that time, led to him scoring considerably less goals.

The style in England suits some players better than the Italian league and vice versa. The Spanish league remains a hybrid between the two.

I'll give a final Serie A transfer update on September 1/2.

IMO, if we had signed the Shevchenko of 2003, he'd have 'succeeded'. I feel with players of that calibre (and form), they can play anywhere. It really didn't help him with the fact that he'd lost a good few yards of pace aswell, mind.

It's a sad shame anyways, man, I just hate to see footballing legends of our time (and one of my favourite strikers) waste away like that.

Just read this, all spot on. I think we could all give a scroll-full of reasons why he didn't set the world alight at Chelsea, but fuck it. If you look in the Chelsea thread, me and Joel were begging we hang onto him because he's clearly still got something about him and even if he was playing on the last man, he'd still be a superb player to bring on into games because he can get goals regardless - I'm sure of that. Just needed a bit of faith, I guess. :(

And that "if anything it shows what a horrible league it is" is terrible logic. :/

Edit: to keep this on topic:

Primus has signed for Charlton on loan from Pompey.

I don't like Shevchenko being labeled a flop. His record was something like 1 in 3 I believe, which considering many times he came off the bench and had to endure a stop-start time at Chelsea due to injury is a pretty decent record to be honest. His quality is unquestionable. If he'd have joined a team who seriously depended on him, under a manager who wanted him there, and been fit throughout I've no doubt he would have succeeded in England.

From what I read, Dinamo are aware of the massive funding Zenit have behind them from Gazprom. Couple that with them not wanting to sell Danny and Zenit being somewhat of a rival, the deal was always going to be a hard one to broker.

Bolton have signed Poland striker Ebi Smolarek on a season-long loan from Spanish club Racing Santander.

The deal includes an option to buy the 27-year-old former Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord player if his loan spell goes well at the Reebok Stadium.

(Could be a great piece of business by Bolton; He must be good as he has won Polish player of the year award three times in 2005, 2006 and 2007.)

Yeah I got really excited about this one. We had £5m re-buffed last week, and seemingly have only upped it by £500k. I was told we were going to include a loan of Shawcross to you with this. Don't know why we haven't bothered in all honesty.

You have to admire Ledley for saying he wants to stay. Cardiff less so for meeting their demands yet still rejecting it. Supposedly.

Shawcross looked pretty decent last season when you played at Ninian Park (I was there, think he scored the only goal of the game.)

Yeah, although, I do fear that this could be his last season at the club, unless they get promoted, which I believe is beyond reach at the moment. Although, he may want to stay to play at the new stadium and become a Cardiff legend. :erm:

:smug: We'll be back for Moses and Scannell soon enough.

Last night I was a bit miffed off with it all and went to bed with a sulk on. After sleeping on it, Soares is a promising signing. At least with Higgy's return we've got a proper captain now, and Griffin doesn't have to play. Tonge adds a bit of creativity, and finally it's someone who can play left midfield.

I believe, somewhat blindly some may add, we had the best survival hopes and probably squad of the promotees going into yesterday. Yesterday's activity has done nothing to harm that, nor have I seen anyone over-take us.

Sure, it'd would've been superb to have got Joe Ledley and likewise with Jermaine Pennant who both would've added a lot. Ledley wouldn't have been without his risks though, as it was a lot of money for a player with his inexperience. Pennant made it pretty clear he wasn't enthralled with the prospect of joining us. The last thing we need is someone coming in and not being ready for the battle, thinking they're doing us a favour by joining. Instead we've got a young, hungry midfielder who is relatively versatile and has a good pedigree for one so young.

Not a perfect deadline day by any stretch of the imagination, but one where we've added some useful players in a couple of potentially problem areas. The obvious bonus is that we'll be gonig into January with some money still left in the kitty, although I'm very shocked we've not made a single loan signing.

I bet David Moyes has seen play just as much as we have, those 2 games against Liverpool. And thats it. Tbh he didn't even look that good, definately not worthy of a £15million transfer.

I've seen him play a few times, and he's looked pretty good. He's not good enough for a top four, so I'm guessing he's at a club that's at his level at the moment.

£15million though, is a bit over the top.
