View Full Version : Eriksson gone
Manchester City have split with manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Despite guiding City to a Uefa Cup place last season, Eriksson was told by Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra he was no longer wanted as long ago as April.
"I have enjoyed my time at Manchester City very much and I would like to thank the fans, players and staff for their amazing support," said the Swede.
Former England boss Eriksson took over as City manager last summer and still had two years left on his contract.
City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh said: "The board of directors and all at Manchester City would like to thank Sven for his efforts and contributions throughout the season.
"We wish him well for the future. Sven remains a friend of the club."
Hardly shocking.
"Sven remains a friend of the club"...?!? THATS a flipping joke. He got shafted... Absolutely shafted. He did big things at City last year. For him to be sacked sends all the wrong signs about expectations for managers in the top flight. Get your team into Europe and still get the chop? What a nonsense.

Blackburn have given Mark Hughes permission to talk to Man City.

Ha.
Is someone still sore about two certain results?
After that meeting in April, it was almost inevitable this would happen. Thank you Sven, for guiding the team to a top half finish and a UEFA Cup place. If you had given me that before the start of the season, I would have bitten your hand off. Legend. I hope we get a new manager sooner rather then later, it looks like Dunne is leaving, so we need to retain all our best players, and let the new guy continue building the team that has been left behind. Zico has also been mentioned, and Avram Grant....:(
Is someone still sore about two certain results? How the hell would I be sore about two results? I'd completely forgot about them that's how irrelevant they were. At the end of the day it makes the competition weaker so why wouldn't I be for it?

Then what was the "Ha" for?
Then what was the "Ha" for?Did you completely miss the point about me saying the competition would be weaker?

What competition?
What competition? That would obviously be yourselves.
See my post here as well Cannon Ball after the defeat at St. James' last season.
Well there's nothing more I can say really than probably has been echoed all over various forums right now.
Once again I didn't feel we deserved to lose the game, however yous were far more clinical than ourselves, and that yet again proved costly.
Fair play to Sven's comments after the game as well, after the dippers probably the best set of fans we've seen at St James' this season, especially when you consider Arsenal have been here and despite being top were absolutely garbage.
Two very well taken goals, and you play some good stuff at times and passed the ball around well, I wish you all well on your progression up the league. No sour grapes from me that's for certain.

OK, my mistake, I thought the "ha" was like laughing that Eriksson had left.

Can we play you every week? Now that's not very bright when he can just post up pictures of certain trophies they have won this season.
It would actually be good if Sven somehow got another England League job to shove it back up Sinatra's face.
Sven to Blackburn if Hughes makes it to City? :erm:

If he gets the Chelsea job, I will be happy for him.

This could well destroy two teams, Man City and Blackburn. As I very much hope we will be vying for the top 8 next year, obviously, like Johnny, I favour such developments.

If they played them every week who knows what they'd win. ;)
If they played them every week who knows what they'd win. ;)
Probably about as much as Arsenal ;)
Can we play you every week?
That depends on which direction 'Uncle Frank' decides to take your club doesn't it.
No manager... no captain... no trophies.

As much as I like City, part of me really hopes that they're new manager does fuck all for them and they slip lower down the league so the owner can get his just deserts for being a fickle cunt.
Wow at the emails coming in to SSN about how they'd hate to have Mark Hughes.
If Hughes goes to Chelsea then Man City will have a great choice of managers to bring in. Avram Grant, Steve McClaren and Sam Allerdyce are all available.
I can't see why Hughes wants to leave Blackburn. He has a very high level of stock right now in a job where he is safe and respected, and going to Man City with the Thai Mandaric in charge is asking for trouble. He has to be a big hit for him to ever go a top job, whereas at Blackburn he is already being linked with one.
BarnDoor is correct when he says this will destroy two teams.
