PESGaming Fantasy League 2008/2009

The new season is still just over a month away but they have renewed the fantasy league on www.premierleague.com for 2008/09 so I thought I may as well get the thread up and running.

POST YOUR TEAM NAME IN HERE ONCE YOU'VE JOINED AS YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LEAGUE IF YOU DON'T.

The game rules are the same as last season so anyone who participated last season will know what they're doing. Anyone who didn't participate last season can go here to see the rules and scoring etc. : http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/rules.mc

There are a few improvements to the website from last season though, which can be found here: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/new.mc

The Head to Head leagues sounds like a good addition and I'm looking forward to seeing it in use this season.

All players joining before Gameweek 1 will be placed in a head to head league which follows the real England League structure.

Each Gameweek you will play a match against another team in the league, with a match result based on fantasy scores. Three points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.

However, there are big question marks over Drogba and Ronaldo (will they still be in the Prem come August 16th?) - and Cristiano is most likely out for the start of the season, so you don't wanna be wasting big bucks on a player that won't play. I advise you bring him in using your wild card at a later date. Hamann and Mascherano are both cheap for a reason, they're VERY defensive midfielders, so essentially won't pick up a lot of points.

We have 36 teams in the league at the moment, so it will mean 2 divisions of 18 teams with 34 games in all. It seems a good idea and I'll try sorting something out later tonight so that we can get it started before gameweek 2.

I'd hoped to do the cup again this year but with so few participants, I will have to think about whether it's worth it.

Wildcard is where you can make as many transfers as you want and they dont take any points off you. Make 11 transfers or as many as you wnat with in the budget, play your wildcard and they dont take points off you. Thats all mate.

You must have made some transfers this week then. In the normal leagues it takes your score, not showing the subtracted points from transfers but on the head to head leagues, the subtracted points are included into your gameweek score.

I've been lucky, so far. I keep getting average to poor points, but end up playing people who happened to do worse that week.

Eleven games without defeat in League B - with the only blot on that record being a 46-all draw against Dyslexic Untied - rocketing me up to 2nd. Although, Phatmann, the points are wrong.

I have a record of won 12, drawn 1 and lost 6 - that should give me 37 points, not 39. I've got a superior goal difference, so it keeps me 2nd, though.

Also, up to 5th in the overall rankings. Never in my PESInsight/Gaming history have I actually been anywhere near challenging. Exactly 100 points behind top spot.

I've just made a few changes which has cost me 12 points already, though. Brought in Peter Crouch, Djibril Cissé, Mikel Arteta and NemanjaVidic at the expense of Robinho, Jermain Defoe, Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards. I could do with the gamble paying off, as I need the points.

:lol: I'd forgotten about this for a while now. Mainly because one of the teams removed themselves from the league, so it was impossible for me to do the results. Plus, I just couldn't be bothered changing my team every week. Next year we might have to change it around so it makes it a bit more interesting. Any ideas?

Yeah, I guess so. I was gonna create the thread nearer to the start of the season in the hope that it'll keep more people interested. I will probably create the thread next week but if you wish to make it earlier, I have no problem with it.
