Na, they're useless, Cheltenham. Saying that, they've just acquired the MIGHTY Barry Hayles, so perhaps he'll be the engineer of an upset against a HUGE Prem side, in the Potters.

Just found out our tie at home to Man City is going to be played in the week of the 22nd of September, which is when most of you will be playing your 3rd round matches.

Lowly Rotherham humbled Wolves by dumping them out of the Carling Cup following a penalty shoot-out victory at the Don Valley Stadium.

The troubled Yorkshire club booked their place in the third round by winning 4-3 on penalties after the match had finished goalless.

First Sheff Wednesday, now Wolves :)

Good-bye Curbishley. Hope you enjoyed your time as West Ham manager because after todays game, it will be your last.

 I'm an Irons fan and I must say that I feel sorry for Alan. I think that he's a nice guy and it's ridiculous that people have called for/are currently calling for his head. However, unfortunately I'm expecting a difficult season ahead, during which Curbs loses his job unfairly.

Miggy
27-08-2008, 23:52
Well they got through tonight at least. I think it would be very unfair to sack him so soon into the season. Unfortunately I can't see the hammers improving on last year.

Yossi

The board does seem to be selling players (Ferdinand) over Curbishley's head though and the club has some financial problems, so maybe that could save him.

Yeah he would have been in so much shit if we had lost tonight's game. Yep exactly mate, it would be unfair but a lot of fans are fickle people and I honestly don't think that the board are going to give him much time. Finally, I too doubt that we'll improve on last season and the injuries don't look like they're going to be any kinder either. This is what worries me, if you look at the seven teams that finished below us last season you've got Tottenham, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Wigan, Sunderland, Bolton and Fulham. All of those teams seem to have improved on their previous season, we haven't and I really do think that this is going to be a long season unfortunately.

It's only just a game and against a Championship club so how can they play 'the most beautiful football in the WORLD' when they haven't play against a decent England League team? Yes, they did play beautiful football but it's too early to say the most beautiful football in the world.

Not sixth but seventh. Top four European Cup, fifth and sixth UEFA Cup but an extra place which is seventh i think.

I'm sure it's sixth. The other UEFA Cup place goes to the FA Cup winners (or runners-up). Although if, say Man United face Chelsea in that final, 7th spot in the league will get UEFA Cup participation.

I'm not sure about that mate. When we was in the final with Man Utd a few years back, because United finished in the top 4 and they won it, meant that who ever finished seventh got the UEFA Cup spot.
