lol, yes i think he's dead. I've got loads of documentary dvd's about him & they all conclusively say he is dead :) . all that theory stuff on 2pacplanet.com is bollox in my opinion...
He was also a great poet, i think there is a book of tupacs poems out in hmv. i recommend it, coz my m8 has it & he says its good.

He;s got a lot to answer for in my book. Far too many people are wearing bandanas these days for my liking.
Did anyone ever see thats programme on BBC 2 where a middle-class, 13 year-old girl explained to a bemused reporter how she rapped about "What I see on the street". I'm a middle-class, 18 year-old bloke and what I see on the street at this very second is a Mercedes-Benz, a rather large house and lots of snow. Man, it's tough in the hood!
People like her should have been shot, not Mr. Shakur.

I didnt see it, but maybe she came from a much tougher child hood, i mean is growing up in tough child hood :D

Tu Pac was a fantastic music artist. Well, perhaps that praise is too strong.
An excellent lyricist.
The fact that he was a gangster would prove to be the death of him. That's all there is to it. Personally, I think far too much is made of the apparent influence rap lyrics have on children's mentalities. Having said that, when I was at the age where I would be influenced consciously, I didn't listen to rap music.
I'm now 17, and I listen to hip-hop music, but I'm at the age where I listen to a song based on it's merits, rather than it's ghetto appeal and how many times the word "gun" is used.

He is dead, there's a pic of him in the morgue after an autopsy but, ofcourse, t'is not appropriate for a site like this

He was like the Kurt Kobain of rap? Promising but died tragically. I'm afraid I don't know his stuff. Can anyone recommend an album and also liken him to some other people so I have an idea of his flava
Sorry, just started working out how to do italics and stuff in the quick post bit.

his first album - 2pacalypse now is good.
if u went to get a good selection of all his songs then Greatest hits is probably best. not sure which is best album though, all of them r good. I still need to get resurrection (newest one) though

I am undecided on whether he is living or not. There are good arguments for both sides.
Anyway, I think he is a quality rapper and his songs are forever motivational and inspirational.
I think he's dead and he had a few good songs

Buy his Greatest Hits cd.
I have 2 cds of him; Greatest Hits and R U still down. Both great albums! Just like 2pac was a great poet and rapper. But nowdays I think 2pac is way to ''overhyped'' You know what I mean, he was great in the begining. But today every word, every beat and every single word he wrote is being publised and released in the form of a CD or single. Its a shame I think. They shouldnt hype him so much but just remember him as a good rapper and poet and listen to his early CDs.........
Cheers
'All eyez on me' is also a good album, although probably his most commercial

Well I hate Rap music..worst invention ever...I'm generous calling it music. Any stupid idiot can rhyme fast, put some stupid base line to it, and pretend tobe the richest person in the world. I mean all they ever talk about is hoes and money and drinking Cristal. Fucking idiotic. On the matter of Tupac I don't know whether I want him dea or alive..Dead everyone keeps making remixes of his shite and painting murals and shrines to his dumb ass. Alive, well he'd be alive and then I'd have to listen to NEW shite by him..It's lose lose wither way.

reasearched???!!!! I couldn't care less. Tupac had let the money the ego get to him. Suge Knight was pulling his stings at the end of his career, just to sell more records, this "east vs west" war that went on was ridiculous and fabricated for publicity. Dave Kennar in the meantime was lying to everyone and in the end I belive intentionally failed to get Knight out of his probation hearing. 9 years for kicking someone???!!! Besides Kennar had the connections to get him out as he had done many a time before. But some of the blame must rest on the door of Knight, his attempts to gain "street credibility" for Death Row by usng many artists right out of prison merely added to the violent culture at Death Row. Obviously Suge Knight was a brilliant person but he let himself down by letting the greatest rap producer get away from him, Dr. Dre. But in the end Tupac fueled by the money and the ego and his decision to write inlamatory lyrics instead of political ones at the end was the cause for him to get shot...I mean he had to have known him getting shot in the head wouldn't be the last time. Overall a sad affair but like I said earlier I don't like rap music.

And why did YOU bring up rap music then? Oh that's right, because having a discussion about Tupac without talking about rap music is impossible.

I wonder how many times Tu Pac actually mentioned the drink Cristal in his tunes. I'd hazard a guess at no more than 5.
You said that anyone can "rhyme fast and put a bassline on it." So why don't they? They all rhyme slow, and don't bother with a bassline, because a bongo drum will suffice.
Then there's rock music, which - as far as I know (mainstream stuff) - is an assortment of variously toned screams which don't even rhyme. OK, so there's the skill of playing the guitar, I'll give you that - but even I can scream some E's and U's down a microphone and call it music. I'll tell you what adams, if you really think "anyone" can write some lyrics and rhyme them fast, do it.
I'll battle you, 16 bar genocides, my friend. Record it through a microphone into a .wav file, and I'll do the same, and we shall see what the others think. There is no greater judge than proof. Or something else metaphorically absurd. Like your knowledge of music, for example.
Not every hip-hop personality is a closed-grill 50 Cent character talking about getting shot nine times. If you don't know this, then you shouldn't assume so.

No but I was speaking in generalities if I was to mention all specifics then this wouldn't be a post it would be a book. Most Rap music I hear is mainstream, although I haven't heared any British rap, (although the Germans are quite funny when they rap, well not funny just the idea is ridiulous.) No I agree I'm sure there is some good non mainstream stuff but, considering I have a fairly good idea what it will be like I choose not to indulge or use my time in such a manner. My fault perhaps for being insular and closeminded but it just aint my cup of tea. Again I'm sure there is meaningful rap out there but just like mainstream rock music these days I am keep away from it. And in response to your duel I'll decline and give this one to you, I can't rap but this doesn't mean tons of other talentless people who think they can and get record contracts.
