I liked it.
must say i noticed a lot of games links in there too
the pig trapped in the house with you in manhunt definately reminded me of the film and the res evil thing also
i think "movie buffs" would like it, i mean it's something new isn't it
that movie rocked. maybe movie buffs wouldnt like it bcoz of the video-clip style shooting and the lack of depth to the characters....whatever. I never listen to what they say. I mean, who the hell wants to watch a movie where nothing happens and u spend like 90+ minutes on a relationship between a blind fisherman and a retarded girl, located in Iceland or something?

I really liked it for the first half or so but once everyone got ill when they were in that house with the army, I though it got a bit over the top. It's on of those films I'd buy if I saw it cheap.

It started off good, but started to go a bit downhill and at the end I was bored. 5/10.

i really loved the film but i personally thought they simply did not know how to end it. did the end not remind anyone of a persil advert or something?

Yeah, it did kinda! :)
Check out the alternate ending if you can... although that was a bit confusing for me.

yea i watched it... basically the only difference was that the guy died.... and to be honest he should of because he couldnt of realistically survived those gun shots without any medical treatment which he can not have had since england was deserted.

But if he dies there's less chance of a sequel... and we know they always want that option. Haven't read the book but maybe that could have been the original ending - where he dies. But few movies these days have sad endings (Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a cool one if you want those!) and the story did kinda fizzle out.
I'm sure plenty of people here appreciated the fact that in the movie, Manchester was a huge bonfire....... ;)
Where's rebus when you need his opinion of a movie?!? Nowhere!!

lets be honest though, the guy not dieing from terrible gun shot wounds wasnt the only strange occurance in this movie.....
i mean lets be honest... it wouldn't take 2 days to get to manchester from london when the motorways are jam packed let alone empty!
and theres no chance that taxi could of made it over those cars in the tunnel and only get away with a puncher.
Good, but not that good, I give it a 7.

excellent analysis there faulky
Hello?!?! It's kind of a science fiction movie, how realistic do u expect to be?
U buy the stuff about monkeys getting this disease over watching horrible images, but get upset when the guy doesn't die from the gun shots?
I think that, having to say what they wanted to say about human violence and all, the guys that made that movie did a pretty good job.

The suspension of belief that characterises Sci Fi films can only be maintained is the bullshit factor is not exceeded. For instance we accept Star Wars and Alien because they are set far in our future, we can believe that society might be like that..then. Good Sci Fi or fantasy films have a low bullshit factor.
In 28 Days the suspension of belief is shattered by the high bullshit factor. We, the viewer, subconciously know that a person can not lie in a hospital bed for 28 days without starving to death, or dying of thirst (the nutrient med packs tend to need changed every six hours or so) or contracting raging bed sores. People also tend to be a bit more savvy about going into dark deserted buildings when you have been attacked in every other dark deserted building you have ever been in.
The main character was just too stupid to live. At the half way mark I lost all sympathy with him and so with the film, I would have frisbee'd the disc across the room if it had not been a rental copy.
What I really hate about this film is that they took a great story line and turned it to shit.
Anyone seen the Omega Man with Charlton Heston?
Gollan - being a film buff is not about watching art house movies it's about enjoying film and everything that goes with it.
I gave this movie 2 outa 10.
It got one for the story line, and one for the taxi driver (the sensible everyman character).
Listen Subby,
First of all, about being a film buff -well I guess that would make me a film buff too.
I love cinema and regard myself as someone who knows a thing or two about films.
I could also agree with your analysis of the film, at least to some extent.
However, I enjoyed the movie very much, found the rhythm quite good, the shooting very cool and unique and the main idea and social criticsm was not lost, in my opinion.
Now about that bullshit factor thing.
Well, I guess it takes a bullshiter to write about bullshit, because that all you did.
Give me a break.
Not all movies have to be convincing in order to be tolerated by the viewer.
In fact, some of the best movies I know are not logically choerent, and I'm not talking only about Sci Fi movies.
Scar face (the last scene!?!?!), First Blood (part I), and for that matter almost ALL of good action films are not logical. In fact, there is only ONE action film that is logical and that's Black Hawk Down (it was excellent, IMO).
Does that mean that I stop enjoying films? How about that Chinese Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon movie? Didn't you just love it? Or the Lord of the Rings (all 3 of them)?
Bullshit factor my ass.

Gollan, you missed the point.
By 'Bullshit' I mean the wieght of ridiculous elements that impede the supension of belief that is necessary when anybody watches a film not in the here and now.
For some film genre the supension is total i.e. horror movies, so a high bullshit factor is not a drawback.
And I disagree with your comments about about shots and structure. I saw nothing in this movie I had not seen before.
Okay, Mr Hieghts, tells me this -
Why did the crazies not attack each other?...after all 'Rage' was designed to turn the victim aggressively psychotic.
