Well its that great time of the year again fellow PES cunts, where we buy presents and dress up as Santa lookalikes in shopping centres to get a quick feel of kids.

Question is - what's your personal favourite Christmas songs? I want particular versions when they're popular, not just song names.

1) Johnny Mathis - O Holy Night

No one sings Christmas songs like Johnny Mathis, and this is my favourite. Just a beautiful song sung by a brilliant songer. Doesn't overdo it like many singers - easily the best version:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0inp9eRMovM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0inp9eRMovM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

2) Johnny Mathis - First Noel

Again another lovely song sung by the Mathis - you couldn't find a better version:

<object width="220" height="66"><param name="movie" value="http://www.joystartv.com/player.swf?configXmlPath=http://www.joystartv.com/action/musicconfigxmlcode/?pg=music_72&playListXmlPath=http://www.joystartv.com/action/musicplaylistxmlcode/?pg=music_72"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.joystartv.com/player.swf?configXmlPath=http://www.joystartv.com/action/musicconfigxmlcode/?pg=music_72&playListXmlPath=http://www.joystartv.com/action/musicplaylistxmlcode/?pg=music_72" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="220" height="66"></embed></object>

3) The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

Well, it needs no explanation does it?

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ff3aoSyYOVs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ff3aoSyYOVs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

4) Jona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry

I've always liked this, not sure why:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EOe18JcatZo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EOe18JcatZo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

5) Chris de Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling

A very odd choice I'll concede. Again, no idea why, but I've always really liked this. I think I liked the concept of a spaceman going back in time and meeting Jesus. And believe me, usually I find de Burgh a right cunt.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GmZg7tvGN9o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GmZg7tvGN9o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

6) David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth

A classic duet between two cunts. Helps if you fast-forward through the bullshit at the beginning though:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c9KpNznVLlY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c9KpNznVLlY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I'm not even going to ask what the fuck that monstrosity is. And its too easy to say the Pogues, you've got to have more than that.

That being said, I died laughing when I saw this:

Christmas songs are, barring one or two exceptions, complete guff. Let's face it, if it wasn't for christmas, we would hear fuck all from Cliff Richard.

What a drunken, fat, toothless, disgusting old cunt.

The Pogues song just brings back so many memories and seems so true. I remember visiting family last Christmas Eve and then going to work. Having great craic while we work, finishing then having a little session before going out. Staggering home singing that and people joining in along the way.

Sounds pretty gay I imagine, but it was class. And it's something you wouldn't be surprised that they [The Pogues] were doing themselves. The fact that it's a Christmas song isn't the main thing, it's a great song irrespective of that but with it being a Christmas song does have that sort of nostalgia, whilst keeping the integrity.

It's one of them what seems to be around all the time and as such you can attach so many memories onto it.

Do not dare to slander the good name of Brett Domino either. Christmas number one written all over it.

The 12 pint of Bass song takes some beating, but that's a different can of beans though! Run DMC - Christmas in Hollis, anyone?

As long as it's not "Do They Know Its Christmas Time?" with the Daniel Bedingfield and Busted, I'll listen to any christmas song. Last Christmas, All I Want For Christmas Is You, even..... Cliff Richard.

Though admittedly now, at this moment, the brain shrivels at the thought.

It's always struck me as somewhat farcical that Band Aid song. The largest religion in Africa is Islam, so to answer the question, no and they probably don't care if it is Christmas either.
