Basically, I want to put all my DVD titles into a database. I keep losing track of some DVD's (ie ones that I have loaned out) and I would really like to be able to just check in my database to know what's missing...

I don't really have the time to create a decent database from scratch. By decent I mean it looks nice and isn't just an overrated spreadsheet, so what I would like to know is if someone here already has the template for a nice "collection" style database and would you be willing to provide it to me?

There's a decent programme made specifically for what you want. Once you've entered all your movies, it will give you the DVD cover, synopsis, genre etc.

I'll have a look and then I'll hook you up with a link in Elite.

Why not just make a spreadsheet in Excel? Not as diverse as a database but fits your needs easily enough. It isn't as though you're going to be doing complex queries or searches in order to require Access' database functionality.

I'd like to be able to do little queries like "films only with Ray Winstone in" and stuff like that, and look into the report side of things so I can see what directors I have most of and other things like that.

Faggy, but access functionality is a lot better. I made a pretty good one back in college but have since forgotten everything =[

Auto Filter in Excel allows it, albeit with a limitraiton. Miggy and I have just posted in Elite anyway.
