Which should I obtain; iPhone or BlackBerry Storm 9500? Pricing isn't an issue as they are very similar, the main concerns are build quality, emailing and web browsing. Reasons either way would be appreciated, but try to be constructive!

So how do they compare?

EMAIL

Storm
A ‘push email’ service means you receive mail the second it’s sent – even Facebook messages arrive instantly.

iPhone
When I switched from BlackBerry to iPhone I found I sent fewer emails, as it’s clumsy with mail. And it only checks for new messages every five minutes.

SAT-NAV

Storm
BlackBerry Maps and Google Maps come free – and you can pay Vodafone
£5 a month for a turn-by-turn navigation system with traffic information.

iPhone
Google Maps is built in – and very useful – but you can’t get proper turn-by-turn directions or traffic info.

TYPING

Storm
Flip the phone sideways and a full-width virtual keyboard pops up. The clicking touchscreen means it’s faster and more accurate than iPhone.

iPhone
A ‘virtual keyboard’ pops up on screen but it’s hard to type accurately, so you rely on auto-corrects. Far slower than Storm.

CAMERA

Storm
The 3.2-megapixel camera is sharp and unlike its rival – and most other phones
– also does video. Photos can be uploaded to Facebook instantly, or emailed.

iPhone
The two-megapixel camera is good but, annoyingly, it can’t do video. You can email pictures from iPhone, but it’s slow.

WEB

Storm
The browser is clumsy, with both a cursor and scroll button. Pages often look ugly, but you can at least copy URLs.

iPhone
The browser on iPhone is the best thing about it, with intuitive controls allowing you to resize pages by ‘pinching’ them.

CONNECTIONS

Storm
With super-3G and GPRS, this is OK – but the lack of Wi-Fi is howlingly bad.

iPhone
This has them all – HSDPA ‘super-3G’, Edge (faster than normal GPRS, but
not quite as good as 3G), and Wi-Fi.

I've "played" with both as i too wil be getting one of the 2 next month.

The layout of the Blackberry storm is great, the only thing that lets it down is the memory, though i believe it takes MicroSD memory cards.

I am personally going for the iPhone 8GB though as my dad works for o2 and gets a nice discount on the monthly bill and the iPhone is free, at the moment and in the next few months apparently there aren't any good deals available for employees with the Blackberry. If that wasn't the case i'd have probably gone for the Blackberry to be honest

It's the concerns over the browser that really put me off the BlackBerry, Safari Mobile is excellent where as the Storm isn't. Instant email/five minute email makes little difference to me, the typing however does. I have heard conflicting reports on the 'clickable' screen; some say it's excellent, others have said it sounds good but isn't actually functionally useful.

I'm off to test both later today, it's going to be a tough choice I think.

Yeah, what would interest me most would be the Web browser and typing. I've tried the iPhone and I did find it a nuisance to type with but my mate says you do get use to it.

It also has great connection so that too could sway it.

I have an Ipod Touch, close eniugh, I can confirm Safari is working perfectly fine, the typing is a bit difficult though if you don't have the fingers of a 7 year old. But if you put in a little effort and concentrate it should be no problem, best thing is of course to try it at a store or a friend.

BlackBerry Storm is pretty poor, the 'clickable' screen feels more of a nuisance than anything and the browser is below par. The iPhone browser is leagues ahead, but both are a little unresponsive for typing.

id say storm but with no wifi that crushes that phone... stupid idea not including it.
