Anyone seen The Last Samurai??
It is the best film i have ever seen it is quality!!!! :D
Just wondering if anyone else liked it as much as me

It's not the best film I've ever seen, but it a very good watch.

At least the Japanese weren't stereotyped to the maximum, which I found relieving.

Whatever you do, don't watch Paycheck. They only called it that because they're robbing you of yours.

nah its no good, the house of sand and fog is good though:)

its an ok film, but 85% of it might as well just be there because theres only about 15% thats worth watching, the rest is pointless if you ask me. its a bit like casino, u might as well just watch the last 30 minutes, cos thats the best part.

As I said in another thread, some of the fights were just silly. I mean he killed a bunch of samurai who were armed with katanas, pikes and spears with cavalry sword then a flag! Plus how dead would he be at the end with the gatling guns? But I guess it was watchable, maybe I shouldn't expect a slight element of realism.

I liked the film a lot but I am fascinated with the Bushido and Samurais. Watanabe, I thought, was excellent but the film did suffer from "Cruise" control.

I was thinking of going to see it but i went to see Lord of the Rings instead.

well IMo both sucked ...LOTR was WAAAAAAAYYYYYY toooo LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG! I fell asleep mid way trhough and then woke up and the gay scene on the mountain top with Frodo and Sam..

LOTR was great.

The last samurai was pretty good, I would give it 6.5 our of 10. Very entertaining.

Can't wait for Kill Bill Vol. 2

Wanna see that damn KB Vol1 but does anyone think that it will run with vol 2? It'd be cool to see both back to back for the 1st time. But of course if that doesn't happen I'd be annoyed... better to see it than not at all.

I went to see LotR instead of Last Samurai, which I wish I hadn't. Got bored about half-way through. As I walked through the cinema though I saw the poster of Last Samurai and thought it was Aaragon.

It wasn't as bad as I would have expected, and given that it has Tom Cruise in it, I didnt expect very much. That said though I still didn't think it was great, it dragged on a bit and I really hate films seta round that time anyway. I'd give it **

I didn't think that much of Vanilla sky, if you want decent Tom Cruise films Jerry Maguire and Risky Business are the only ones that come to mind.

As I was just discussing with P, Tom Cruise should've killed himself at the end of the film. Maybe in the final battle like the Samurai leader or definatly when he went to see the ladyboy guy. This would've showed he really did take up the way of samurai and took his own life due to defeat in that battle, and also showing the death of the samuari way. Plus blood speaks louder then words if he wanted to persude the ladyboy anyway.
