i am proud to say that I still have a 1stgen iPod nano, have had it since day 1 and love the little fella to bits. I've wanted to upgrade, but didn't see the point because he did the job in a grand manner.
However, the little fella must've had some sort of minor stroke because for some reason, when i plug my usb cable from him to the PC, he won't connect and at most, windows recognises it purely as a mass storage drive.
Now, I'm assuming it isn't a problem with the cable because windows actually detects something, and 95% of the time, the ipod starts recharging, but that is the limit to what it does. I cannot update it through itunes because the bastard isn't detected and I cannot restore it using ipod updates for the same reason.
Whhen I connect it to an external speaker system through the same connector the usb cable goes to, it works fine, so again, i'm assuming it can't be a problem with the connector on my iPod.
Can anyone offer me any advice before i start digging a grave?
