View Full Version : [PS2 & PSP] Winter '09 Update -- N. American PES 2008 OF

connoll3
15-02-2009, 01:44
Contents:

- Substantial overhaul of rosters. Many players added to fill out squads and vast majority of January 2009 transfers completed.

- Player ages pushed forward a year, to bring them up to date.

- Lower-cased all player names.

- Names of clubs, players, stadiums, leagues, & cups -- all 100% correct.

- Fully edited national team kits (with emblem and manufacturer), including new Russia and Argentina kits.

- Full Bundesliga created in 'Other Leagues C.'

- 4 other clubs added:

* CSKA Moscow replaces Bayern Munich (moved to League C)
* Shakhtar Donetsk replaces HJK Helsinki
* Boca Juniors replaces PES United
* Zenit St. Petersburg replaces WE United

- All EPL (except Newcastle) and Bundesliga kits updated for 08-09. GKs included.

- Other kits updated for 08-09: Marseille, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg, & Shakhtar Donetsk.

- Added promoted 08-09 clubs for EPL (Hull, Stoke, & WBA) and Bundesliga (M'gladbach, Hoffenheim, & Köln). Rest of leagues retain default PES 2008 clubs (for the most part, the relegated 08-09 teams in these leagues have been ignored in this update).

- Replaced/overwrote classic national teams with U-23 teams.

- No retired, classic, or duplicate players on file.

- Many stats and appearances edited.

- Boot slots tweaked, mostly to account for colors.

- All PES Shop items unlocked.

Notes:

- This option file is compatible ONLY with the NTSC version of PES2008; it won't work with NTSC-J or PAL versions.

- Big thanks to pategato & red-town. This file started from the beta of their PES 2008 file (http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=61372).

- Despite all the editing, rosters are a work in progress. Smaller and less famous clubs (e.g., Scandinavian, Dutch, & Eastern European) still could use more work.

- I'm a bit tired of editing at the moment, but if there's enthusiasm, I might continue tinkering with the file and release an update or two in the future. We'll see.

- Feedback, critiques, recommendations, etc. are welcome.

any chance of posting the OF in ps3 compatable form for those playing ps2 version on ps3? Would be much appreciated by us nextgen gamers who still see the ps2 version as the real game.

I'd be happy to offer a ps3 conversion, but I don't have the hardware to do so. If someone else makes the effort and posts it here, I'll update the first post with an appropriate link. Same thing goes for a psp conversion, which pategato hopefully will get around to when he has a chance.

PSP (forthcoming...when someone does a conversion)

Connoll3 ,

Thank you for taking your time on the option files. Hopefully someone will do the conversion to a PSP option file. Too bad you weren't able to add teams from the MLS, USL-1 or the Mexican League. With the Concacaf Champions league down to 8 teams it would've been nice adding those 8 teams at least.

Hopefully soon. I've PM'd pategato about it. I'm sure when he gets around to it, he'll post the conversion. Meantime, if somebody else with the capacity to do the conversion wants to post it, please be my guest.

I have no intention of adding CONCACAF teams to the file. My preference is to keep the file Eurocentric, since if you take it into ML you can reasonably emulate domestic and continental competitions (UEFA Cup & CL).

I know there are PES 6/WEPES 2007 option files floating around with MLS and USL-1 teams updated for 2008. The last Mexican league file for PES on PS2 that I've seen was updated as of 2007, although I might have missed a more recent version. I have the MLS/USL-1 file handy, so I can direct you to it if you're interested. Coincidentally, I'm working on updating the MLS teams on that file to get them up to date for the new season.

This version you speak of , is it a PSP version ? Everyone makes option files with Euro teams & leagues but wouldn't it be better to add a few team from this side of the continent under Independent teams ? With the leagues of this continent just starting again it would add to the extension of the playablilty of PES 2008 . Just an idea..

Pategato,

Thanks for everything .. You have been more than helpful. Are you working on the option file for the PSP version of PES 2009? Is there a big difference between PES 2008 & 2009 worth purchasing the 2009 one.

I own PES2009 for PS3 only.
For what I've read, PES2009 is inferior to PES2008 on PSP, so PES2009 is not worth getting if you own PES2008.

No more updates for ps2? :(

Sorry for not paying much attention to this thread, and thus the severely lagged response time.

Regarding the above:

1. I don't have a psp conversion handy, so cannot re-upload a d/l link for that version.

2. I can, if there's still interest, re-upload the original file/s from February.

3. I was not planning on doing a comprehensive update for the 09-10 season, but have tinkered a little bit with the file so that I have a version that's more closely up-to-date with transfers and a few kits. It's far from a polished version. But if there's interest in that, I can post it, too.

Lemme know.

This is not even of beta file quality, but nonetheless:

http://www.4shared.com/file/127963908/ffec359b/PES_2008_-_August_2009.html

Haphazardly updated as of August. Includes some 09-10 kits and many of the Summer 09 transfers, but changes are far from comprehensive. Hardly any new players created, either.

If anybody wants to run with this and update it further, be my guest.

I also put up a working d/l for the original Winter file (~February) in the first post.

Both files are .max. If somebody needs/wants conversions to other versions, let me know and I'll try to accommodate you.

No, unfortunately it's not possible to do PAL-NTSC conversions for PES 2008, unlike with, say, PES6.

I'm interested. Will this be a PSP copy? Since I heard that PES 09 was terrible , I decided to stick with PES 08 and updated as much as I can.

Thanks

Ok, so I misspoke earlier and decided to do a little more editing. Sue me. :)

This file is a little bit better updated than the one I posted in August. Not perfect, but a definite improvement:

http://www.4shared.com/file/132639103/aeb44f53/PES2008_-_Sept_14_2009.html

I've sorted out a large majority of the summer transfers and added a good portion of the new players for these clubs:

* All 09-10 EPL (relegated teams mostly ignored).
* France: Bordeaux, Lyon, Lille, Marseille, PSG, Monaco.
* Italy: Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter, AC Milan, Lazio, Juve, Napoli, Roma, Sampdoria.
* Dutch: Ajax, AZ, PSV.
* Spain: Barca, Deportivo, Espanyol, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal.
* German: Bayern, Bayer Lev., Hamburg, Hertha, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Wrdr. Bremen, Schalke.
* Others: Shakhtar, Dyn. Kiev, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Porto, Benfica, Sporting, Zenit, Celtic, Rangers.

I paid scant attention to those clubs not mentioned above. Also, I updated a few more kits for 09-10.

Enjoy, if you're so inclined.

Yeah, a little bit, but in a haphazard way. I basically changed stats if I ran across players in the midst of editing who I felt were over/underrated. I mostly used pesstatsdatabase.com as a reference.

Also, glad you got the d/l to work properly.

All three Portuguese teams got an overhaul, mostly because, as is typical each year, they have substantial player turnover in the Summer.

In terms of stats, I updated a few Benfica players - Luizao, D. Luiz, Sidnei, Coentrao, and a couple more I can't recall at the moment. As for incoming players, I think I created all of them except for Cesar Peixoto & Weldon. If you wanted to create those two on your own, I think you'd then have a pretty comprehensive update.

I still play with PES 08 (PSP) and I wanted some advice on how I can create my own Emblem and logo (on the shirts) for my own team kits. I know you guys use the PS2 , but I have a PS3 and/or a PC (if there is another way thru there). The team I'm trying to create is the PR Islanders, so if you have any advice it's greatly appreciated even thou I know you have move on to other Soccer games.
