Original? is no longer an admin at his own request due to university commitments which is a very decent move from him given that he can't commit time to the role.
martin_cranie, though still with admin status, hasn't logged in since November 29.
As a result, we're looking for up to two new admins. Interested parties should PM me rather than post their interest in this thread prior to Friday morning.

Suppose I should say, in case it gets missed:
Anyone who actually becomes an admin would be expected to adhere to the board's rules or get demoted fast. Seems obvious but it isn't always easy doing something a lot of people are going to give you grief for when you're an admin, despite how easy it appears.
Nath is the best candidate tbh

I like HammerHead's idea of a vote personally.

I agree, if voting commenced then we could end up with the worst Admin in history which will only be bad for the forum.
But then couldnt we have the best choices that the current Admins think there are? Then vote on those.

I think the first part is the best way, but instead of just Vets/Elite/Admins and Mods voting it should be people who have been here for a certain amount of time.

I love how this website is my own personal petri dish for emoticons. That one is one of my personal favourites though.
Also my reign as moderator was legendary. I couldn't do anything whatsoever other than enjoy the tranquility of it all.
Simpler times.
It was probably for the best I wasn't given any real power as I probably would have edited posts with obvious spelling mistakes and break up giant walls of text with copious amounts of unnecessary paragraphs.

We'll be discussing the candidates (seven so far) in the staff area from around Friday lunchtime at which point moderators with access to that area will no longer be able to see it. That will only be finalised once at least myself, Barry and Miggy have decided on a final list which may or may not exclude any of those seven depending on how we feel.
There will be a vote (for users who have registered since June 2008 or prior and have at least 75 posts) but the user with the most votes should not automatically consider themselves the winner. It'll be a tiny bit more complicated and I'd really hope people don't just vote for members they have good relations with. That said, I believe each of the seven candidates so far would do at least a decent job.

Pretty odd that. I know Baddar does alot of moderation in the PES forums but hes also in some of the other sections, so people know him. Maybe Trevi is just a mod for the PES forums.

Aye, Trevi was added to the PES section alongside myself and Phatmann. He seems alright though, so his post-count shouldn't really matter.
It's an extra pair of eyes when we're not around, so it can only be good, I suppose.

Well Miggy, Barry and myself all need to comment on the candidates - I'm about to do so now - and decide if any need to be dropped. I'm thinking we'll end up dropping one prior to any voting or Apprentice-style tasks being handed down. If I can work out some odds, I'll put a bet up and you'll find out the names that way otherwise once we've decided who, if anyone, to cull you'll all know the names. Expect it tonight at the earliest but more likely tomorrow.
Apprentice-style tasks sound fun except I can't think of any to do. The candidates could make campaigns and we'll turn this into Admin Wars, a short precursor to Member Wars 2009.

Surely that could end up with an unworthy member becoming admin? Unless you can come up with tasks which would prove their abilities in the field. Perhaps get someone to double post and the first to spot it and book the member gets the points. :lol:
