What do you think?

Keeper's conduct at Hillsborough memorial service investigated

Liverpool have suspended goalkeeper Charles Itandje for 14 days while the club investigate his conduct during the Hillsborough memorial service.

On Wednesday, the Reds held a service to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster which claimed the lives of 96 supporters.

However, Itandje's conduct during that service has prompted an investigation following pictures appearing to show the Frenchman laughing.

His actions sparked local outrage, with hundreds of Liverpool supporters reportedly complaining about his behaviour on internet message boards.

A Liverpool spokesman confirmed: "Charles Itandje has now been officially suspended for 14 days by the club while we investigate his conduct during the Hillsborough Memorial Service."

Itandje was told not to report to training on Friday by manager Rafa Benitez and the situation is likely to cast fresh doubt over his Anfield future.

The 26-year-old joined Liverpool in 2007 from Lens and has made seven appearances in cup competitions for the club.

He has yet to feature in the first team this season and is currently Benitez's third-choice keeper behind Jose Reina and Diego Cavalieri.

Really dislike the guy. He doesn't play, refused to transfer cos he wasn't offered enough money. So he just sticks around, getting paid, and going clubbing every other night. Then he finds the nerve to be disrespectful during the ceremony. Get out of our club Charles.

"First of all, if my behaviour has caused offence to anyone then I can only apologise," Itandje said.

"I am sorry. I am sorry. I am sorry. A thousand times, I am sorry.

"To the club, to the fans and especially to the families, I am deeply sorry.

"It was, of course, never my intention to offend or disrespect anyone.

"The events at Hillsborough were a tragedy and in no way did I mean to disrespect the memory of what happened 20 years ago. I would never do that.

"I would like to speak to the families in person to offer my apologies to them because, like I said, I never meant to hurt anyone."

Still a twat really. There are things you just don't do.

Yes Liverpool ban your French reserve goalkeeper for this but completely overlook your beloved cunt Jamie Carragher for spitting 10 seconds into the minutes silence against Blackburn last week. Was I really the only one who noticed this complete lack of respect from one of Liverpool's most senior players, who apparently embodies everything the club is hated for? This was far worse than Itendje did, but no, we won't hear anything because its Carragher. If a Blackburn player had done that there would have been uproar.

I agree with Barndoor.

Carragher's offence is much worse condsidering, he knows exactly what the memorial means, to the club and it's people.

Itandje is just ignorant to this, as he has no place in the club and doesn't care what is going on around him as long as he gets his dough.

Not really.

Anyway, Itandje was obviously being a complete plank. Never noticed the Jamie Carragher incident though, but if it's true then he does deserve a clip. I mean, spitting is common place in football, but to do it during a minutes silence is stupid. It almost symbolises spitting on the dead, which sounds very harsh and will obivously not be his intentions but it's the first thing that came to my mind when thinking about it. The problem is, Carragher probably won't recall any of it, and it will likely have been a reflex as opposed to anything he intentially did.

I expect a lawsuit regarding plagiarism from Barn any day now.

That's what I was thinking. Admittedly I felt like laughing when watching that video as soon as that guy started singing - Not because of the Hillsborough Disaster.

Watching that Jamie Carragher video I think that him spitting was worse.

Thats one for the Wall of Shame I have to say but on the matter at hand, even the player next to him was telling him to stop and completly ignored the cunt.........As for the Carra thing, I didnt see it till now, it was a lack of respect also.

If Itandje was laughing at that baldy cunt singing he had every right, the guy was fucking awful and a disgrace to the memory of those who died.

And whoever copied me fair play, that was hilarious. At least you know I agree with everything you said.

The song was the most disrespectful part of that video, sickening. To be honest, I couldn't give two shits more about Hillsborough than I do the events in the Ivory Coast. Yes, it's sad these people lost their life... but far worse things have happened, are happening and continue to happen but none of you give a bollocks. It's all overly pretentious. Yes, Itandje was a being a twat... that's hardly newsworthy, however not one of you care about genocide in Africa because it's too far removed yet expect other people to care about Hillsborough and continually go overboard. Commemorate it, fine, but don't blow it out of all proportion. If there were one club I'd be happy to see go bankrupt... horrible club, horrible fans and a horrible city.

Demosthenes couldn't have said it better. Just omit one part - Yes, it's sad these people lost their life - and it would have been perfect. Some of the old threads about Hillsborough that Rafalutionary made were legendary.

hes 100% right. Poor cunt is being picked on by the press and Liverpool for some reason just suspended him. Thats the first i seen of the Carra spit, i thought it would be jus a wee spit but turned out to be a fucking Grog, did he think he was a baseball player or something ? That spit couldn't have waited another few seconds ? pathetic. Carra getting away is too good considering whats happenin the keeper for laughing at some random off the street thinkin hes on X-Factor singing his karaoke song

Carra is an untouchable though, he can do whatever the fuck he likes and nothing happens. I wonder what would have happened if Carra wasn't english

You can't be too harsh on Carra. Obviously as he's a Liverpudlian he respects the disaster a very lot, he might've choked if he didn't spit that out at that very moment. It was better than him coughing, no?

Yes it was blatant but I'm still not so sure. Itandje laughing is a lot more serious and deserves his suspension. Should have his wages reduced too. See how jolly he is then.

#
# Leppings Lane stand was deemed unsuitable in 1981 after 38 Spurs fans suffered crush related injuries. Sheffield Wednesday never carried out the work required. In addition to the 1981 incident, crushes also occurred at Hillsborough in 1987 and 1988. In fact Liverpool played Nottingham Forest in the same stage of the tournament one year prior at the same ground where Liverpool fans were crushed. Liverpool filed an official complaint prior to the 1989 FA-Cup semi final to air their concerns about safety.

I didn't know about this, shocking by all means.

Itandje is ajust a silly boy. Suspend him his wages and thats should be enough. The dude hardly plays anyway. Reminded me of when i was forced to sit through a church mass when i stayed over at a mates place when i was 11, we ended up sitting well away from the family playing digimon.
