View Full Version : How to make master league better

Give some suggestions of how master league could be better:
1. Inclusion of the champions league mode into master league. It would make it a lot more realistic.
2. More leagues and teams. I can't stand only playing with 4 leagues. There should be atleast 8 leagues in master league and leagues like england and spain should also have a top league and a second league.
3. Have a realistic currency. I hate buying players for 10000 or 20000 points. Have like a dollar, euro or pound currency.
4. Add a training session. I love the football manager games and one thing that makes the game really awesome is being able to make a training schedule and being able to hire coaches based on your needs. They should apply this to master league. Be able to hire coaches who have different coaching skills like shooting, defending, goalkeeper and etc. This way players will get better in training and games. It would especially help with younger players who dont get a lot of playing time.
5. Be able to change teams. One thing that is really good in the manager mode of fifa is that you can choose to re-sign with your team at the end of the season or choose to move to another team based on your performance as a manager.
Moved to 2010 discussions, seeing as the ML isn't going to be improved for the 2009 edition of the game. :)

My bad i meant to put it in the 2010 discussion
Like your first point about having the Champions League incorporated, Would be good if the Europa Liga licence (which I heard they have now) was there as well. On top of this I think a 2 player function woud be awesome, but only if I can play as my mates opponents, otherwise some sort of feature which allows Masterleague to be interactive as an online function, rather than the current online setup. Obviously improvements need made to the online setup to enable this. One more neat addition would be a reserve team, or reserve league which runs similtaniously, with the option to play these games or not.

one more addition that i think would make the master league better would be an option to simulate games. Sometimes when i have played 5 or more season it gets boring to play some really bad teams again and again so being able to simulate the games would be a great addition.

An addition that I have is that it would be good if the trainer would get offers from other clubs as well. Sensible World Of Soccer (SWOS) already supported that and it would be good if the Master League would support this as well.. Sometimes it just gets boring to stick with the same team for 10 seasons in a row..

I'd like:
- The second division to be made up of Championship sides/ Serie B sides etc.
- The Div 1 cup to include the teams from Div 2 (Hardly a lot to ask!).
- Official Champions League and Uefa Cup to be in the Masters league.
- More grounds, better chants from crowd and much louder cheer for goals!!
- Start in a small ground and have option to expand stadium if you're successful.
- Be able to have a reserve/youth team to improve your young players.
- Have unhappy players put in transfer requests, have other teams upset your players morale if they want to sign them etc.
- Have to deal with the Chairman and the boards requests every now and again.
- Get offers from other clubs and national side if you're successful, but ALWAYS have choice to stay at your chosen club!
I think all the above points are very easily doable for Konami. They really should have been implemented years ago!!

-They have said that they are using the CL license to much greater affect this year so its like 99% going to be in the ML.
- I would like a return to only having 16 teams in a league. There are too many fixtures but would like more leagues
- Youth team for every club
- Club facilities
- Ability to train your team every week
- Take your ML team online with the stats they currently have instead of using bloody default stats

KONAMI have announced this. The ML is, apparently, is going to be completely different.

Yh would be a decent option but you should only be able to simulate 3-5 matches a season to stop people just siming the entire season. It does get tempting in fifa to just skip all the matches you cba to play.

I'd like if
A) Spurs weren't the best team on the planet.
B) Earnings for games / winning actually varies. How can you earn the same from winning an away match to some lowly league club as winning a the final of the European cup?
C) Spurs didn't play like the best team ever.
D) The best players actually had the stats of the best players
E) Did I mention that Spurs seem to be the most difficult team to play against? Sorry, but D Bent is just not THAT good.
F) They get rid of the stupid scripting that makes you lose / draw to rubbish team, by making your 'keeper forget how to use his hands, suddenly turn some crap forward into a cross between Adriano & Messi, and actually allowed some of your shots NOT hit the post etc
G) Make Spurs not the best team ever.

Maybe....... not once, but twice - in Euro Champ group, after defeating R Madrid in league, and twice in Euro group, and defeating Barca in league, and league cup - but can't buy a win againt spurs, 3-3 then 2-2, its a joke.

I don't know if anyone has said this but how about making the master league playable for 2 people?
Think some of my ideas are mentioned by other people, so i'll just post whatever i think of.
I think ML should give experience points to players on international duty, and higher than normal because they are playing and training with the best in their country. Just hate it when I have a big game coming up, as well as a cup game on that week, a few of my best players are called to the national team, and got back tired as well, and gained nothing.
Referees... Make them to get the right decision. It's so frustrating when you're given a red card for a tackle, which a yellow card is more than suffice. Plus, they always give a foul anyway even if you got the ball from a sliding tackle.
Automatic tackles as well. Sometimes the AI helped you to make sliding tackles which resulted in a red card, and a freekick on the edge of the box, which is needless to say what comes next from the free kick.
if master league could be incorportated to online play and make online leagues that would make me play the master league,
i only play online, or multiplayer.
It would seem somebody has had a bad experience whilst playing against spurs ;)
spurs are the best! ive scored some wonder goals online with them robbie keane and d bent are deadly. vamos wilson palacios!!!
Structure
Basically, create your own. I'm talking Leagues - eight minimum with two divisions and promotion/relegation criteria. International qualification rounds with specific calendars. Cups both domestic and inter-league with fully customisable structures (group stage or straight knockout, number of groups and teams per group with draw restriction criteria, number of fixtures between teams, number of legs, away goal and extra time options, etc.) and Super Cups for both - qualification criteria (champions qualifying for one, runners up for another), prestige ranking, player registration and pre-set final stadia. I'd like to see an option in Edit mode for customizing your own trophy; colour, size, shape, engraving, patterns, logo, etc.
Awards
I like what they have so far, awards tailored to specific competitions, Golden Boot, but a few more to add would be World Footballer & Young Footballer of the Year. A domestic MVP & MVYP, personal awards you yourself can choose like your club's Footballer & Young Footballer of the Year as well as those tailored to positions. I'd also like to see a trophy cabinet for players as well as clubs including awards won at other clubs.
Development
Core stats like speed, strength, balance, dribbling and shot power should be set in stone with very little development, if any. Lionel Messi isn't gonna get any faster or much stronger between now and 28. Special talent stats should be applied, seperating those who are specifically adept at passing or dribbling or shooting. Failing that, I'd like to pick and choose which stats develop to what degree. Failing that I'd like to see experience points introduced so I could directly pick and choose how to assign them. Also, I'd like training to be compulsory (with an option to skip) and I'd like the the regimen to be player specific. Also, scouting and youth development, they go hand in hand. Why go out and buy the next big thing when I can refine my infrastructure and develop him myself?
More when I think of more and when I can be bothered...
i would like to see 4 leagues and you start in the 4th and work your way to the top

some great ideas . i think the championship and the bundesliga should be added to the game also the scottish league added to the game and maybe spanish segunda would be a great addition too ... for master league be good to see currency which a few people has already stated and simulation matches (that wont happen) because pes has always been a playing game . but if u can sim matches that would be great.
in my opinion i would make a good pes game maybe in a few years lol

Yeh i like those suggestions mate, i understand what you mean about the stats, take Theo Walcott for instance, he's so fast & highly unlikely that he'll get faster as he should be very nearly at peak physical condition but his technique on the ball & passing/shooting ability will no doubt improve over the next few years so those stats should improve whereas his speed stats should stay pretty steady & then as he nears his 30's those stats should decrease.
The you look at a player like Ryan Giggs where he had the Walcott pace back in his young days but now as he's slowed up he has developed into a completely different player & is much more composed on the ball.
I like the idea of the awards too & choosing a club player of the year would add something nice & new to the Master League set up.
I have mentioned the training in previous threads but would like to see the return of the individual training from past PES games at the pre season stage of Master League.

Didn't realise there were new features on the Wii ML.
I really do hope to see more managerial actions in ML. but then i thought PES isnt really a "football manager" game so i doubt if konami would consider this
I'd like to see far more control in your players' development as they age. As Dunno said players like Ryan Giggs are gonna have far less stamina, strength, and speed as they age. It should be compulsory for the sake of realism. An option to alter their training regimen would be essential.
It'd be a shame to waste him when you can build his positioning and passing ability, technique etc. attributes that generally improve with experience, and convert your ageing stars to alternate positions (ala Giggs from winger to attacking midfielder) or simply redefining their role (an adventurous attacking fullback who can still cut it at the highest level defensively with a bit of work on his tackling, or still has the positioning, intelligence and crossing ability to compensate for a loss of speed and agility) where they could still be useful to your tactics rather than having them shrink into shells of their former selves and fall by the wayside.
You never know. Yours or another team's supposedly 'past it' player may have just the attributes you need to plug that gap in your defence/midfield/forward line for a cut price fee. It could give that youngster in your squad a little more time to develop if he's not quite there yet.

Ok in this vid you can see the enhancements to the Wii version but you need to skip to 1:24 . Its just a quick insight. Nothing in depth.

An idea i had to enhance the ML and the game in general is the ability to make my own highlights at the end of a game in a option in the post game menu then save it. You get like 30secs of highlights to save and you choose what bits to save.

One thing that is really good in the manager mode of fifa is that you can choose to re-sign with your team at the end of the season or choose to move to another team based on your performance as a manager.
in my opinion i would be very satisfied if they improve at least on two things i will mention below:
*more licensed leagues and teams =more exciting/REALISTIC players to buy
*normal REALISTIC currency (Euro, dollar or pound)
*and finally NO CRAPPY MADE UP PLAYERS!!!

Good shout, a lot more common sense needed with this and defiantly a new approach in general.
Also agree with the transfer system. It should be like real life, you make an offer to a club, they get back to you whether they accept it or not, if they do, then you go into negotiations with the player. Maybe the players can all have some fictional agents as well.
The training needs to be improved as has been mentioned. Why not have coaches available to buy to train your players (GK, Defensive, Attacking coach etc.) Take the good bits from FM and add them with the, hopefully expected, better gameplay.

Like a lot of people mentioned above the transfer system sucks as it is right now. I would like to see a revamp that would include an engrossing and fun loan system.
Take for instance you have a promising young player who cannot make your starting eleven. Maybe lower based clubs will opt to take him off your hands and pay you but higher tier teams will have to be paid by you since his stats will improve more at their level.

I would like some more injuries. It would be more realistic and makes you play the reserves more often and you cant play 40 fixtures with a 18-man squad. Ive played my ml save for five seasons and got like 1 weeks injuries every fifth week. If you look at a real team they have like 1-3 injuries on diffrent players all the time.
Also it would be nice if the big teams arsenal, barca, man united and inter were harder to play aganist then other teams. Often i get better results aganist chelsea and pool then i get from stoke and hull.
Also as someone said earlier it would be nice if the best players were the best players. like fabregas. totally worthless with his stats. seems like the good players in pes is the fast players. the players with the great passingskill and vision gets lousy and invisibvle

much more licenced leagues, teams and players to start with...normal currency (pound, euro or dollar) and players' values, ability to train with your team, better and more detailed match statistics...improved player's match ratings (this is something that 90% pes players find really anoying as players get crap ratings like 5.5 or 6 even when they played well...than trainings during the game week ect...this list could go on and on but im just wondering if konami take any notice from this forums threads and what improvements we will see in pes10

Konami should strive for the best master league mode in PES history. As a result, I know exactly what they must do to completely dominate as the best footie game next year. As long as I've played futbol video games, I've never seen this feature implimented in any game (#1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 on the list below). Here are my suggestions for Konami:
1) Pre and Post game analysis
2) Review and Preview show
3) Top 5 goals of the month and top 10 goals of the season
4) Create-a-manager
5) The option to play, skip, or watch highlights of a reserve game
6) All leagues in the game should be available in Master League mode
7) Real currency
8) Further advance the training sessions
9) During gameplay
-away team arriving in team bus
-players should warm up in respective team track suit
-subs lineup of both teams should also be shown
-half time team talk
-severe weather should give the player the option to suspend
-specific personalties for specific referrees. i.e: strict or lenient
10) 20 teams in each league (unless they don't have. i.e. the Portugese League)
NOTE: These are just ideas. Some may be unrealistic or impossible to simulate

EVERY team in the game should be eligible for ML. There should be a way of enabling or disabling teams eligibility. So, if you create, say, Leeds Utd then they can be in ML if you want. It doesn't mean that Team A will automatically be in ML; only if you want them to be. Obviously the amount of teams in leagues can't be imbalanced but the player should have the choice to remove a team and add a team where they see fit.
Same with players. ANY player should be in ML if that's what you want. Again there should be a facility to 'switch on' or 'switch off' their eligibility.
Some great ideas, guys, by the way. :)

I completely agree. No player or team should be exempt. There should be two modes: Customizable mode and Full Season mode. For full season mode, all real teams will be included (Team A will not be included for example). For the customizable mode, there should be an option at the start of a new master league season that gives the player the option to select how many leagues he/she wants in the master league, how many/which teams in each league, whether or not classic and created players should be included, etc.
Implement The World Cup into it... maybe name it "World Championship" or something like that.
The License for the World Cup is really unimportant... the important thing is to include something like a "World Championship" in which the winner gains great prestige and fame; Commentaries would be Key.
It would be cool if it could be Optional, so that people who aren't interested don't use it. Alongside the UEFA Champions League -it- would add that something else to the Master League.

I agree. I'll roll off your idea and add more details. In addition to the post season friendlies, there should be a world cup (world championship) every four or two years in which the player can decide whether or not he/she wants to play this cup. Also, when a player gets called up for international duty, it would be cool if the player had the option to play the game along with the other players in the league that got called up.
SAID TOO MUCH
BUT I WILL SAY IT ANYWAY
"league b"
in master league useable

Perhaps it would be interesting if the "World Championship" can only be played by the Master League player, if any of his team members has been selected for the World Championship. In that way you "earn" the participation a little bit, by performing well and getting your players more in the picture.
If you for example have players with different nationalities that have been selected for their respective national teams, you could choose which team to play with, if you decide to participate to the World Championship.
If they will add the World Championship in there, I wouldn't mind seeing the European Cup etc. in there as well...

agreed
Can a mod put this in the "Official Konami PES Feedback Zone."
Also posted this in another thread but would really like to see this happen:
I would like to see the ability to coach an international team in the master league mode as well as your normal master league club. By coach i dont mean the coach mode, you would play as the international team just like your normal master league club team. This wouldnt mean that you would have to choose a nationality at the start of a new master league because you could be approached by any national team looking for your services. You could apply to coach certain national sides but also be approached by national teams. Everything from world cup qualifiers to that regions cup competition could be played.
Managing the team wouldnt be too complex, you would be given a squad and you can change the team tactics etc. for each game. I've played alot of master leagues and this would certainly liven it up a bit.
What do you think?
I reckon as soon as you open Master Leauge mode you should be given the option of creating yourself (as the manager) what you look like, dress sense, personality, managing style, name, details blah blah blah, that should be the first step.
2. Choose your team or create one from scratch (the game makes up a cut scene of how a newbie managaer has taken a non league side into the league etc.) Then the normal (but better) master league follows BUT! It should be full of cutscenes, press conferences, touch line antics, highlight shows etc, you should be able to have the choice of doing certain things like praise other managers, sweet talk players you wanna buy, basically combine PES with footy manager. Hell this is supposed to be next Gen, i say they should add in "the crib" feature from old 2k games, do better in the league = live a more glamorous life buy a better crib, car, furniture, club training facilities thats my 2 cents anyhow, probably wont see any of this till Pro 15 lol!

Yeh LEague B should be able to be used! But anyway we should be able to Create many, many teams not just the 25-30 or so!
ML this year are going to be fantastic. Both CL and Europa League ( UEFA Cup) and Real Currency is implented. :D

Yep, saw that on the Pesfan website and I gotta say I've been waiting for this since...forever. :D
This feature will certainly enhance the realism of the ML, that's for sure.

Would be great to be given very few options for kits and stadiums at the beginning and then working your way up to a better pitch (stadium), a better kit for your team, better training facilities and trade options when the cups and money start pouring in.
You know those ugly stadiums in south america? Would be great to have your team play in something like that and as you get better turn it into a legendary venue where the big teams go out with the life taken out of them, then be given a choice to change into a bigger one.
yeah... id like that, im daydreaming maybe

I think that's a fantastic idea, that would add more of a challenge to the ML which is needed. I also think there should be more facilities other than stadiums, e.g. the training ground facilities.
I would love it if in the ML there's a option to show your club's cash flow where you can see your club's day-to-day business or how it is run. There needs to be more things that can affect the clubs financial situation (Ticket sales, merchandise, hiring coaches, executives, state of facilities etc.) so that it will make real-life players think of how to manage a club just like in real-life.
