I'll start with a couple I've been watching quite a lot of, recently:
HhNS6MsCEpc
JfAS6nwYc9g
SI4OYmbhAS8
The drums are ridiculous.
One of the greatest performances ever:

It is also featured on the DVD in the special anniversary edition of his album "Thriller". Go out and buy it.

Simply amazing, Oasis in their prime, back home in Manchester. This, imo, is their best performance ever!

modern "R&B" live, with a live band is at least 5000% better than it is on cd/radio. They always have absolutely top musicians and make the music sound way better than the generic electronic sound they go for on studio versions.
edit: And it's a shame wacko Jacko is miming in that video...
Yeah but only some of the rappers can pull it off. JayZ is one of a few.

Well, I can name live albums only atm. Namely:
Ellington At Newport [Duke Ellington]
The Köln Concert [Keith Jarrett]
Smokin' At Half Note [Wes Montgomery]
Jazz At Massey Hall [The Quintet - Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Max Roach, Bud Powell]

You'd have to go a long way to beat Nirvana at Reading in 1992
I didn't experience any of these but the best live albums I have are probably;
Daft Punk: Alive 2007
The Doors: Live In Boston
The Strokes: Live At Alexandra Palace
The Messiah

I remember being blown away by that Prince performance, when I watched it live on TV. It doesn't feel as good watching it on that video, but it's still a pretty exhilarating performance. I don't even think he won a lifetime's achievement award to warrant that.

Was at the Neil Young concert tonight at the Aberdeen AECC. His performance and his band was great. Neil Young rocked tonight. Very impressive.

In light of Glastonbury, I am reminded of this beauty, which is easily the definitive version of the song:

I was just listening to Santogold's albulm in car on the way home this morning.
Some really bouncy songs she has on the albulm.

Fraid not, they were bloody awful. Only made worse by having that Cockney cunt prance around the stage like a tit.

^ What in the hell is that? Not quite a "performance" is it, just some people kicking the drum kit?
Anywho, the legendary "Up In Smoke" tour, I can't really post up the entire tour, so this song will do I guess:
VyFCeugKuq4&
PS: Good post on that "Wonderful World" song, great stuff.
Just saw Snoop Dogg on the Lowlands Festival (didn't go, was on TV) and someone in the crowd was holding a giant marijuana plant that he/she brought to the stage for the man :D Brought a smile to my face. He threw out a freestyle rap in its honor!
As for best live gigs, the entire Live at Leeds CD of The Who contains some definitive versions. The Prodigy always kick up a great show, like Iggy Pop (the man is about 63 which makes it even better). How The West Was Won by Led Zeppelin is a favourite.
I have a friend who went to Gogol Bordello at the Tivoli in Utrecht this year and she was wildly enthusiastic, promised to go too next time.

Kasabian at Earls Court in 2006 and Forest Fire at The Luminaire a couple of weeks ago are the top two gigs I've ever been to. I've not been to a lot, but they both blew me away.

Saw Gogol Bordello in 2007 on a whim, and despite only knowing one song they were absolutely brilliant.

I saw Muse live just after they released Black Holes and Revelations... That gig was amazing. Missed few exams because of that but it was worth it.
Metallica in Copenhagen this summer. Oasis at Roskilde Festival this year.

Can't believe this isn't on here yet, and obviously I wasn't there, but Joe Cocker doing With a Little Help from my Freinds at Woodstock. Both to listen to and to look at, never seen someone get into a performance so much, plus the sound itself is fucking unbelievable, he takes that song to a whole new level.
Look up a few posts Matt :D
I'd like to add About a Girl and The Man Who Sold The World from Nirvana's Unplugged session. I'm not that big a Nirvana fan but they do some great things with these two.

I was at a Faithless show in Cape Town and remember the insane crowd interaction when they performed "we come one"

Shonen Knife in Amsterdam was probably the most fun ever at a concert. Normally I'm not into buying band merchandise but I had to get something to remember that so I bought a tee....and got it signed.
Paradiso's a great venue, there was a great crowd, it rocked.

Frank Turner at Brixton on Sunday was pretty damn good too:

Was reminded of this while perusing my collection for instrumentals last night...
Hangar 18 by Megadeth, seen them at 4 different venues, but every time it was the opening of Hangar 18 that really kicked the gig into life.

Interesting fact though, PSY actually studied at the University of Boston then went Berklee College Of Music.

Yeah, it looks like it would have been an amazing experience to be at that concert. I personally quite like the song, it's catchy, feel-good, and I don't mind some K-Pop from time to time (I'd recommend the site: allkpop). It's just essentially positive expression and energy, and it's of course really infectious.
