View Full Version : PES 2010 first in game impressions
Hi, just found this on the WENB website. John Murphy tells us of his impressions of his 1st play test of the new Pro Evo
"As a die-hard fan I am happy to report that 2010 is looking really promising. I was treated to some demos of what the new lighting, textures and animations are like and in my humble opinion the changes really made a big difference. Check out the first screenshot for yourself.
I got to see changes to the team first hand. Numbers have swelled and the WEP development area is now buzzing. I was also treated to a look at the newly formed "future development" department, but that is all very hush hush. Good to see the team really thinking about PES years from now.
Seabass was also kind enough to give me a first hands-on with the gameplay, which is at a really early stage. It is going in the right direction for fans. Goals are harder to score, with less down to luck or mistakes. Support for the man with the ball is also better. I really like what they are doing with penalties and strategies too. So much I could talk about, but I want to keep my job. Finally, to all those with eagle eyes who spotted something on my screen during my last blog...can't say much more at the moment. We've already said the fan will be our focus this year and into the future. Hope to start proving that shortly." Posted by Jon Murphy on the PES blog.
Sounds very interesting. I can't wait 'till 2010 to see how they've improved it (I hope they did). Does anyone know when it comes out?
so it seems the "screenshot" ppl were talkin about earlier is actually the in-game "screenshot". i m impressed.
of course, itz always great to see animation improvements, BUT what we, as PES fans, would like to see more is the actual gaming experience. i hope konami is headin to the right direction this time.
any guesss on when the demo will be out? i cant remember when was the pes09 demo out last year...
Impressing screenshot it was. PES 2010 sounds very promising.

Yeah I agree. In fact pro evo is building more hype and enthusiasm this year than any year gone before it, even back to the good old days of pes 5 and 6. I am just worried that it is being over hyped at this early point.
Yet I have nothing to base my skeptical views on giving Konami's excellent performance in advertising and appealing to the fans this year about the new pes.
Keep the good times coming! I cannot wait to see the 1st in game video of pro evo 2010, it seems that we will finally get the next gen game that we deserve.

amen!
And welcome back after a 6 year gap between posts haha!
impressive graphics and with the proper implementation of motion capture as confirmed on WENB hopefully we will have a real football simulation with the magical pro evo feeling of PS2 days
"Goals are harder to score, with less down to luck or mistakes."
But isn't that how goals are scored in real football?
However, it all does sound really promising.

It does happen in real football - but not in the same way it does in PES.

Yeah true - I presume the 'mistakes' he means in the post are ones like goalkeepers diving the wrong way, as opposed to defenders making ill-timed tackles - because that is how goals are scored.

I think it's more to do with the goal mouth A.I. (or extreeeeme lack of)

I wouldn't say FIFA 09 is technically sound but. I agree with you though, I liked it but I never loved it. Personally I think Konami will win us back with this one. They've been working on this one for over two years, hired over 200 extra staff and split them up into divisions to work specifically on individual aspects of the game, all words but when you consider the level of progress the graphics department has made as a direct result it really eases my mind.

Yeah... I mean, if the Graphics have improved so massively. I'm now expecting more or less the same type of improvement in Animations and Movements.
To be honest, I never expected so much Graphical improvement... it doesn't looks like A Yearly Update. Perhaps Konami has been working on a New Graphics engine for more than one year.
Hopefully it delivers... cannot handle another year of PES5/PES6.

Yeah Seabass said after pes 2008 that there was members of the Konami team working on a two year project. Therefore pes 2010 was a two year project in the making.
Pes 09 was never expected to be more than a yearly update from pes 08 and that it why there was not much talk about it and why it was not classic pro evo.

Keep this in mind, guys: There's no way that PES2010 can be worse than its predecessors. It will improve and I for one am looking forward to it.

That is true. While in previous years we wondered how they could improve this? ( in reference to pes 5) now we know that it has to improve!

It does sound promising yes. However, all I'm saying is whatever KONAMI say I'm not going to believe it till I see it & play it. I'm not going to get excited all I can be is hopeful.

This.
Well I think it is fair to say that pes fans do have a right to be excited about the new game. It does not matter that we are 5 months from launch but everything we have heard and indeed seen so far sounds positive and promising. The fact that this is simply not another yearly update from Knonami but has been worked on since pes 08 came out gives me great excitement that we will get a pro evo on next gen worth shouting about. With the extra people on the development team as well as the great PR job Konami are doing this year in keeping us fans in the know I can't feel not excited.
^Agreed. I think pes 10 will be worth it.:)
Ive gotta admit it starting to sound promising but im not gonna get my hopes up too much atm. Saying that, 2yrs in development instead of the usual 1yr has surely gotta make some kinda impact. If it turns out to be the awesome game that they're plugging it as then we will be in for a real treat though and i'll be lovin it if thats the case :D
