View Full Version : Player 1 v Player 2 in cup/league modes
Please PES programmers, bring back the option of being able to move across the joypad on the player settings screen so that mates can play against each other as the opposition team, for example in Champions League or International Cup. Surely its very simple to programme this option in? It's always been available on the PS2 version, but not possible on the 2 versions so far for PS3. The last 2 years I've bought the PS3 version and traded it back in when we found that we couldn't play tournaments with this option, ruined the social aspect of it where you sit around with mates having a PES session. Please bring this option back!

I think a part of it though is people can cheat by switching teams and scoring own goals... Obviously that's not the point of the game but there are definitely people who do it.
If someone really wanted to cheat so badly they could simply set the difficulty level at beginner, it'd be pretty hard not to win matches on that difficulty setting! I don't see how the possibility of someone wanting to cheat is a reason to block the 2 player option. It's always been available on the PS2 versions, including PES 2009

i agree, its not as if you really win anything other than a little digital trophy/achievement, please put this back in!!!

Konami, i've been playing pes for more than 10 years. I think pes 2009 it's a great game but loses 50% of it's appeal because of this silly thing that we cant switch the controller 2 from the cpu to player 2 in the cup and championship mode. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US!!!

I can only agree, it says on the box that it is a multiplayer game but for three years now most of the games modes can't be used. I can't understand why it can matter if someone would cheat by switching teams, it's not like big money is at stake. Please Konami bring it back

yes please get this sorted this time round.cant believe u guys[konami ]fucked us ps3guys up so much by taking this option away from us ,so please please bring it bak ps pro evo is my 1 and only game i play not been playing it now 4 about 3months. its to boreing now 2years without this option i hope it gets sorted because i dont want to quit

There could be just a special cup/league for this that you could customize, add as many real players as you want (even if you only have two controllers), then pass the controllers around when it's time for someone to play they game, if you know what I mean.
Then we could play cups with like 8 guys, and have 7 matches in the cup, always people playing each other. It would be wonderful.

From every version of PES, going back to when it was ISS Superstar Soccer Pro! My mates and me would play multiplayer leagues and tournaments and 1 of us would play as the opposition teams when our mate was playing his match. In the last 2 versions of PES Konami has inexplicably cut this option out. The last 2 years I've bought the PS3 version of PES, but traded it back in for the PS2 version, where the option to play as your mates opposition is still there.
This year I'm waiting to see if this option is available in PES 2010 BEFORE I buy the game, if it isn't, I ain't buying it and switching to FIFA. Bring this option back Konami, Surely its such a simple thing to do!

Not sure if I get you there, are you saying you can play as the opposition CPU team to a mate in online mode?
They should have this option available in the offline modes anyway, it's idiotic that they've removed it. The PS2 version is out next week, it's always had the option of playing as the CPU opposition team in it. Looks like for the 3rd year in a row I'll be trading in the PS3 version for the PS2 version, thats how much the next gen development team have messed it up since PES 2008, the PS2 version has been better every time. Shocking

It must be terrible playing PES on consoles....so many schoolboy errors and/or little touches deliberately withheld from the game....no way to put any of it right. If u have a PC up to the job of running ProEvo then Kitserver can heal your problem.
So are you saying that the problem we have with the PS3 version, that another player cannot play as the opposition CPU team in league and cup mode is fixable with a patch for the PC version? I've asked about that before in PC section, if it was possible to fix it on the PC I'd trade the PS3 version for the PC version

I agree. Same problem here and same problem now in PES2010.
And more... because in PES2009, you could play 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 in league/cup if you set all teams as players (20 player in a league, for example). In this case, each game is player vs player, so third and fourth pad can chose any side.
But now, with PES2010, is impossible to play 2 vs 2 in community leagues and cups, even in player vs player games, because second and third pad stay at the center, and can´t chose any side.
Great job Konami. Who are your testers? I can´t believe nobody detected this last 2 years.
Yeah, I find it unbelievable that they've removed this option from the game. It was always in the PS2 version, and I think it still is. And it would be so simple to fix it with a patch. The Kitserver patch for the PC version enables the option for another player to play as the CPU team, all you have to do is click "Disable controller check" and that's it, it's fixed. So that's how damn simple it would be for them to fix this issue. For my friends and me, the fact that another player can't play as the opposition CPU team when we are having a multiplayer offline tournament is wrecking the game for us

I'm not sure, but it's always been possible in the PS2 version, including PES 2008 and 2009, when it wasn't possible in the PS3 version. That's why I'm thinking it's still possible in PS2 version of PES 2010.
I traded in the PS3 version for the PS2 version in 2008 and 2009 because we couldn't play as the CPU team in the PS3 version, and the PS2 version was the better game. I hear the PS2 version is great again this year, but I haven't swapped over (yet)

This is probably what your talking about but my Bro is visiting and we made up the SPL on community (another fault, cant make leagues in League anymore!?) and usually play on same team but as mentioned you cant move the controllers over.
Has really spoilt the game from this point of view!!

nowt will happen again ive been going mad now for 3years ,when the new update comes out with players they still wont fix it ,CANT 1 OF THE MODS SPEAK TO KONAMI TO SORT THIS OUT NEXT GENERION MACHINE THATS BEEN GOING BACKWARDS 4 THE 3RD YEAR RUNNING AND I BET MY LIFE IT CAN STILL DONE ON THE PS2 STILL

Just downloaded the update. It's still not possible for another player to play as the CPU team in Champions League or Community mode. Thats the end of PES 2010 for me, gona trade it in and get some cash back coz my mates don't want to play it anymore because this option is still not available. The developers have succeeded in ruining the game for us by removeng an option that was always there til PES 2008.
Exciting new content in the update!! New Japan kit!! Wow! 4 teams added to Champions League roster that were already in the game!! Updated transfers from transfer window that closed nearly 3 months ago!! And, um thats it. Thats poor, Konami
