View Full Version : What mobile shall I get?
Due for an upgrade soon, but not sure which phone to get.
Looking to get either a Blackberry, iPod or new Nokia.
Most of you seem to know your shit, so a little help would be great.
Are the new iPod's any good? A lot of friends who had the old ones bitched about a lot of the features either being useless, or it lacking the simplest of applications etc.

iphone or nokia n97.
What about a provider? Have been with O2/BT since mobile phones came out over here. They don't sell the Blackberry Storm which I like the look of, so may be inclined to go with someone else. But who? Vodafone, Orange?

i have been with them all apart from 3 and i am currently with o2, i have been with them before and i will stay with them for a long time.
PS my dad works for them so i get cheaper line rental and broadband so my opinion is slightly biased

Blackburry Storm is nothing special.
Quite the understatement, it's atrocious.
Anyone know a network where I can get the new iPhone without having to pay something towards it before the contract starts? Would like a decent amount of free texts with the tariff too; not overly fussed about mintutes.

Well my contract is up in november (currently on a 3 contract with an N95 8GB) and since I first saw and read about the N97, my plan has been to upgrade to that as soon as my contract nears its conclusion. I loved my N95 (broke my current one nd currently using an E63) and never had any problems with it. Whenever I experience a truly great phone, I usually show loyalty to it and my next phone is usually its next iteration (I owned a Sharp GX 10, then a 30 and then the 40 came alog and ruined my dreams of sharp being the best mobile phone manufacturer =[ )

The N97 comes with standard 32GB memory (iPhone has 8GB-32GB) and a 5mp camera (iPhone has a 3mp). It also has a qwerty keyboard underneath (as you probably know) so texting will be a lot easier than a virtual keyboard.
The decision will obviously come down to your own design preference over design and user interface. I love the iPhone design, but it's a shame it hasn't changed since its original release. I however do not like the presentation of the apps. It looks just like one big menu screen, and leaves a lot to be desired imo.
The main selling point of the n97 to me is something so simple, and that is the built in FM transmitter in the phone. No more connecting it to bullshit docks to stream your music, this baby does it itself.
edit -
Here is a two part review of the n97; very insightful and with some phone porn.
