PES 2010: Master League Evolves

Konami reveals expanded managerial elements, including new fiscal, sponsorship, and youth team elements

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has outlined significant advances to the Master League section of its forthcoming PES 2010 title.

Master League has proven one of the key attributes to the PES series' longevity, and PES 2010 will introduce a number of new elements that will contribute to the overall realism and lasting appeal of the new game.

On selecting the Master League option, players are now presented with a menu split into three areas: 'Club House', 'Stadium Walk', and 'Office'. Each of these is an umbrella for different parts of a manager's role, with 'Club House' used for tactical and match day options, 'Stadium Walk' for main game settings, and 'Office' for scouting and player acquisition dealings.

The in-game menus are now much simpler to navigate, and players can jump between the three areas with ease. The Club House element has also seen the creation of an all-new Youth Team section, which works alongside the first team squad. As the game progresses, the player can opt to invest in talented members of their youth team to fast-track their development. This burgeoning talent can then be introduced into the first team, as with so many real-life 'academies.'

The Office area is where all transfer and financial dealings take place. Real currency is now used in PES 2010, and additional monetary routes are also available. Sponsorships can now be negotiated, with player securing big money deals with companies that can be used to invest in the team and youth set-up. Results on field affect the direct value of the club to interested parties, and fan clubs are also used as a barometer of the club's success.

A big change of interface it looks like. Out goes the side panel navigation from the last few games for this 'dial' like system. At first glance it looks more organized but I guess how it functions will be the most important bit. Nice to see actual months and currency being used, they're only small things but welcome nonetheless.

The youth team is a great addition in my opinion. Hopefully it will help develop the younger players who aren't quite good enough to play for the first team when they join the squad. Having a quick look down the squad list from the screenshot you can see plenty of familiar names with ML legends Castolo and Minanda still in the game.

The strategy gauges bring new tactical elements to the game, and with these additional managerial elements, as well as more to come, Master League is shaping up to be a much deeper game mode.

Thanks to PESFan and WinningElevenBlog for the information.

^Agreed. It looks really awesome. ML is something to look forward to this year because unlike in previous years, this time it's much deeper and more work is put into it.
The menus are pretty good aswell compared to past ones.

^Well at least we got something. I also hoped for more info. LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE REALLY INTO PES 2010. Haven't seen all these new things in previous pes games. I mean they were just a continuation + minor changes (from pes 5 onwards). This time they are actually improving and making better. ML is an example so far.

yea i suppose your right shaun but i was hoping like a massive list of information making us really need this game...i suppose they do wanna keep some things under wraps for now.

it all sounds very good what they have done but i thought there would be loads more..with the training, team, even in the transfer market....

Well chuffed :) Early indications would suggest they've delivered on their promise of revamping the Masters League! The youth team and money system alone should make it a lot more engrossing! Can't wait!!

I like the idea of the youth system and the financial side of of the clubs as well.

What makes it even better is that this is only the "little" news

When I heard there would be news today regarding the Master League, I was expecting a little bit of information, I even heard a few people mentioning Youth teams, but I just waved it off thinking Youth teams would be asking too much from Konami. Obviously not, I'm absolutely delighted with this Master League news. I enjoy the current Master League, and the longevity was already good, it just needed a few tweaks here and there. So for Konami to give the Master League a seemingly good overhaul, I couldn't be happier considering this is only considered "small" news.

The whole presentation of it looks excellent too, a much welcomed change, and it looks completely better than what I could have imagined. The addition of real currency is a nice welcome - I think I'll use Pound Sterling for English clubs, and the Euro if I choose to be a European ML team  - and it's the little touches like this that help add realism to the ML experience.

Honestly? I'm chuffed.

And if Konami have indeed converted back to the console servers that controlled PES6, giving PES 2010 a virtually lag-free experience then I think I'll be playing it all year round - happily.

i think there is training, there is an option for it in the club house menu. hopefully its manual training rather than a new name for the old "conditioning" option.

Fifer
22-07-2009, 18:27
That's some really great news in my opinion. The menu is a little more intuative, they are adding new things to it. PES is the footbal connaisseur choice, so the little things like real currency are a big issue!

I'm a bit sceptical about the whole sponsership thing, I don't know how that will pan out for the better. But if this is indeed only "small" news then I eagerly await the rest!

It needs some big change.

Exactly my sentiments mate. If we are indeed able to have two options "Regulate Condition" and "Team Training" then that would be excellent. Even if your players stats don't improve from training, just being able to knock the ball about on the pitch with your new players and get to grips with them would be great. Practicing free-kicks, corners and the like would be superb touch from Konami.

ABOUT TIME...

The ML still needs full divisions & the option to edit your own leagues to avoid licensing issues

Also needs EURO CUP & CL implemented correctly or in a fashion that you can edit (again to avoid licensing issues)

Apart from the youth academy & real currency which is no big effort the rest is just window dressing.

Dam you beat me to it :)
Anyone notice in last pic it seems you can now decide to sell or loan players? About time :D

I haven't been this excited about ML since Pes 5. If they fixed player curves and created less godly ballers as well as fix the fatigue then I'll be over the moon.

Well I must admit I was hoping for a little more news. But a little is better than nothing aye guys... Hopefully the juicier information on this won't be held back for too long!!!

Its encouraging that it would seem there are more than 12 teams to the 2nd tier of the division & hopefully there will be a 2nd tier for all Leagues. Not just the League you decide to apply your trade to. If not then I hope there are more leagues not just the usual 4.

Not sure what to make out of the sponsors idea & I am reserving judgement on the youth system. Not 100% sure if this will add to the experience or not, but all depends on how they implement it.

lastly, thank f*ck there is now REAL currency.

and yes hunter i was meaning all along for the training to be added like the possibility to run drills etc to improve your players and your self at such plays...

and it awesome that more leagues have been added and now D2 is longer

ive noticed on the pics that there is a rolling news bar or what looks to be one..another nice touch

I'm really stoked about the master league, guys. Looking good. Anyway, about the gameplay. I was just recently comparing PES 2010 gameplay (at least what they've showed us up til now) to PES 2008 and 2009 gameplay and I have to say that it looks good (at least in my eyes).
If you look closely at PES 2010 gameplay you will notice that the players actually follow through/keep moving after passing a ball as opposed to before when a player passes a ball, the player seems to lag/stall for a second. As for dribbling, in PES 2010 it seems that the players actually make smooth diagonal turns unlike before where they would have sharp, 90 degree turns. From what I've seen and deduced from it seems pes2010 will play similar to FIFA 09 which more than suits me just fine.
Again. The youth system seems pretty promising. (also, do you guys think that konami might add another game mode option? Cuz there's a blank section in the circular navigator, which looks good too.

Hunter
22-07-2009, 21:48
I don't know why people believe there is another League added unless I'm missing something? It only says D2 League, there isn't any real signs of added ML divisions.

Although, it appears as if the two generic emblems noted in the final screenshot could very well be from the Bundesliga. Obviously they aren't official emblems, I imagine it would be quite like the Premier League where they all have fake names and badges again - nothing a powerful edit mode won't fix!

I think that this is great news indeed. I am just hoping that the youth players are not always the same players, which ever club you will be playing with.

It would also be excellent if these players would either be real youth players (which means larger team rosters in PES, I guess) or to allow the user to edit the youth players that are associated with each individual team..

23-07-2009, 13:28
That's fanstastic news.

I hope they bring back the option of blocking Classic Players from the Master League, but allowing unlocked, current players. I hate to have to play a game where you have dead footballers playing for the opposition, just because I want singn Bundesliga players.

Also, I hope they improve their English. What the hell is 3th?

R9NALD9
23-07-2009, 13:53
they can make all the improvements they want, if we are still stuck at 4 teams in master league they can shove it up their ass.

Also, hopefully Konami changed some of the potential stars in ML to other names or players. If my team is going to consist of Kaiser and co. for another year I'm going to burn my copy of pes.

To be honest I never really bothered buying the likes of Kaiser etc, purely because I considered it almost cheating. Having fantasy players with unlimited potential just wasn't my kind of thing, I prefer to try and find some hidden gems who are just waiting on the benches of teams eager to flourish into diamonds.

I managed that with Erding on 2009 Hunter. I bought him on the cheap when he was 19 for about 4,500 PES points and he's now turned into my star striker at 24 years old! :D

I love it when things like that happen. It's the beauty of PES! :w00t

My point excactly.:)

Also, if default players annoy someone, don't play with them. Also please, respect Konami for making ML 10* better so far unlike what they did in previous versions. The ML took this shape from pes 4 and it stayed the same sort of. But now, major improvements. Please for once, respect it.

I don't mind if the ML is still only 4 leagues, but the CL and Europa must be bigger somehow. It was really stupid having only 4 groups in the CL of ML and BAL, often times playing against teams in your own league.

I think you are spot on in terms of the CL and Europa... but I believe that they need to expand on the amoun of leagues within just the normal ML format in order to avoid your 2nd part of the statement.

that has always been a problem though for konami due to licenses if there are more teams available then its possable to have more leagues...but from the pictures i would guess the only expansion is the D2 with 18-20 teams taking part

I'm not overly bothered about Konami including more "other" Leagues for the Master League. There is 4 different regional Leagues at the moment in the ML isn't there (A,B,C and D) right? I'd personally prefer say 3 regional Leagues, but just more divisions for your concerning League. So instead of starting in Division 2, you would have 3 Divisions, obviously making it a more prolonged fight to the top.

Agreed it would be good for them to include more tiers to each division but then that would destroy the CL & Europa League that has been incorporated into it. You would be playing the same teams within that competition aswell as the league format and I think it becomes overly repetitive. But as Shankly has already stated, Konami has major issues with parting with their cash to include more teams. So both our hopes appear to be falling on death ears.

yes mate im not really bothered that there is only 4 leagues like your self but as long as its more realistic in terms of Europe.... as long as the updates and improvements so far keep going im sure people will soo forget if there is only 4 divisions... however i would like you want to see 2-3 long divisions in a league for a more grueling promotion process and maybe as long as D1 D2 cups, i would love to see a cup where all the divisions are involved E.G. D2 teams competing against D1 teams...
