EXCLUSIEF
it's dutch but it basically means that stam will sign a 2 year deal with ac milan, the price milan will pay is about 15 million euros
a very strange decision since stam told numerous dutch papers a while back that in 2005 he wanted to come back to holland to play with heerenveen, I guess money can change everything

I jest...we have no money our coffers have more dust than dough....
to where Real??? nah I think Arsenal will pip him ;)
Arsenal can't afford him at the mo. Could be Manure! They need a defender, and have long been admirers of Nesta. Let's hope not, though.

yeah... 'cause their keepers suck... even cech had a howler last weekend...
well Cudicini would have saved the second goal though...they just have no depth there and that kills them...Sullivan should be playing for a Confernce team...

he is not good enough for conference... maybe sunday league...
drunkensailor
17-02-2004, 18:02
why do u people thinka ll players are going to england?? nesta doesn't want to go to england, ronaldo won't go
besides nesta won't leave milan, in fact he even asked his manager to sign stam because nesta thinks stam is the greatest defender in the world
maldini playes as a left back not as a centre defender, stam and nesta are centre defenders

AC Milan are really trying to toughen up the defence :)
Bought Cafu, then Stam.
I'm suprised he costs so much tho, being so old already.

17-02-2004, 19:04
yeh but he is well good. i dunno why ferg sold him though, another one of his personal vendetta's i suppose...

Do you think the news' true mate????
How would the Dutch international cost so much, even at this age???
If it was on free transfer, maybe Milan would grab him :)
drunkensailor
17-02-2004, 20:04
I didn't make this up or anything, it's in the dutch papers I read this morning
he will costs 15 million euros they sayd and he's the best defender in the world so I don't see why he would cost less, besides milan has berlusconi the choosen fascist of italy
Zizou_Zizi
17-02-2004, 20:30
So is he coming around now or in June??? :)
Definitely Maybe
17-02-2004, 22:12
How much is 15m euros?
drunkensailor
18-02-2004, 00:11
about 20 million dollars
ChelseaDave
18-02-2004, 04:59
about 10mill i think.
Do u guys remember that when Nesta transfered to Milan from Lazio 2 years ago he said he really wanted Stam next to him? IMO Nesta isn't going anywhere and the Milanese defense monster will just become uglier. All they need is Cannavaro and to put Staam on the bench....yuck.
drunkensailor
18-02-2004, 06:02
stam and nesta as a defense team, they would be the best defense in the world, with cafu as a right back and maldini on the left, amazing

Drunkensailor, you haven't answered this yet :)
By the way the defence now,
Not sure if it will work.
They are quality, but can they play well together???
:D
Foxhound
18-02-2004, 16:40
maldini retires??
Thats to much for Jaap Stam. He's 31-32ish and only worth 6m tops.
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 18:15
I would get him on free transfer, no more :)
15 million is what I would have paid 3-4 yrs ago at most :D

Whadya mean? They played together in Lazio and they absolutely kicked ass.
regarding Maldini - I don't really believe he can go back to play left back, he's too slow...maybe he'll retire, but we'll all have 2 just wait n see.
adams9802
18-02-2004, 18:19
Still paying that much is insane when you'll get maybe 2 years out of him...I'd rather burn the money, atleast you'll be warm.
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 19:35
You notice something here???
The amt AC Milan are paying are less than Manchester United's price when he was at his peak :)
And the same price (around at least) when Lazio bought him later on :)
And now by paying so much AC Milan think he's currnetly at his peak???
Anyway their defence now is decent, single digit for the against column still, or was it 10 or 11???
:D
Oh Yeah definetly AGAINST Ac Milan 4ever!!!
A defensive monster that's what they are...
And u guys got a good point - Stam is 2 old for that kinda money involved.
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 19:42
Are AC Milan trying to become the "defensive" Real Madrid???
Buying all the defensive stars :( ????
Are AC Milan trying to become the "defensive" Real Madrid???

LOL that's so cool! instead of the "Galacticos" u can have the "Legion of Doom" (or wasn't that Philadelphia Flyers - NHL - nickname with Lindros and what's his face) - just a bunch of leg braking tacklers.
Oh, and don't forget - AC Milan owned by Italian PM....hmmmmmmm.
adams9802
18-02-2004, 19:47
They will Be Nicnamed the Italian Maginot Line
Oops but that sucked.........
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 19:48
Ooohhhh...
I see what you're try to say :)
Why not sell Sheva and Pippo to get a few defensive midfileders???
That would be perfect wouldn't it???
Yeah, only problem the Maginot line was very crispy in the end....let's hope Milan's defense will be as crispy. (please god make it so I promise to be good).

If Maldini's gonna move to left-back,
where would Kaladze be???
On the bench???
:p
Kaladze hasn't opened for Milan in 2-3 months, as far as I recall.
A shame, though. He's quality and they just bench him.

They always have too many players, too big opulent and sagging.
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 20:13
Why did they buy Rivaldo in the first place???
I'm wondering if Stam will share the same fate as him,
then transferred to a lowly Dutch club...
:( :( :(
adams9802
18-02-2004, 20:14
Not unless they buy Cannavaro too(don't rule it out)...Maldini should play at LB...

Fat Sam shouldn't go anywhere especially to that sinking ship called Citeh. Ronaldo could get paid 240,000 pounds a week. Does Roman really like flushing his money down the crapper? I mean Christ, he certainlt didn't become a billionare this way.
jthk2004
18-02-2004, 20:26
well they have enough loan players at man city now so fat sam has no use over there...
and for roman, i don't think he knows much about football anyway... buying chelsea is a big mistake... he should have bought man u...
adams9802
18-02-2004, 20:29
[Too expensive Chelski were only like 50 mil.....Manu would be like 500mil or more. I don't think he'd ever watched anyfootball before buying Chelski. I mean he smiles every time they lose to us....Or maybe he just likes round balls.
jthk2004
18-02-2004, 20:34
leeds united would be considered unlucky... if roman had bought them there will not be much troubles now...
Zizou_Zizi
18-02-2004, 21:02
Yeah Leeds and Chelsea were in a similar situation last season.
But look who Roman chose :)
If he had landed his jet at Yorkshire it would have been very diffeerent don't you think???
:D

check gazetta dello sport or any dutch paper
and what u guys forget is that stam is at his peak now, he's top notch this year with lazio and look at maldini he's 36 now and still great, that way stam could have 5 great years too, ebsides stam started playing football when he was 20, so he started very late so he will have a longer career

no way he can`t be earning much thier or be playing at top standard.
Do you know if he`s still in the brazil team?
drunkensailor
18-02-2004, 23:48
brazilian teams have just as much money as europen teams, if not more
did u know that dyanmo kiev is the richest team in the world??
U should read a book called football or war
I always though that Brazil was a poor country with little money
Definitely Maybe
19-02-2004, 01:21
I always though that Brazil was a poor country with little money
As a country it is still developing - it isnt developed like the UK, USA, or France, however alot of the South American and Arab teams are very, very well off, which is why the likes of Batistuta go there at the end of there careers for one big pay off.
AC Milan really don't need another defender. They're just making up reasons to spend their overflowing cash reserves.
Silly fools.
