This year PES 2010 has made major steps in terms of progress and innovation in regards to its rival FIFA.
We have played the beta close to a week.
Konami has put in alot of effort improving visual appearance. Players look foto realistic. Especially international well known players. The game engine is still based on the Ps2 engine, and will be familiar to those who have played it in the past. (This brings me more tears then joy).
http://www.meristation.com/EPORTAL_IMGS/GENERAL/juegos/Xbox360-Deportivo/60/IMG2-cw4a885e9dd2662/OL_commuList_win_resize.jpg
Gameplay:
The gameplay is the same as always. Low Pass, High Pass, Shoot, Trough Ball etc.
Pressure with AI help or moving keeper out with triangle and the most brilliant part of all are the strategic options.
In this version Kaka and C.Ronaldo are at Real Madrid but players like Benzema and Xabi Alonso are not. Etoó the lion beast is still at Barca.
Menus:
The interface is more enjoyable and user friendly. The new modes are lovely.
New is PES MANAGEMENT that brings new elements like:
- Scouts
- Sales
- Flight Agencies
- Technical staf
- Ensurance companies
- Sponsers
- Fans
- Transfers, Income, Outcome, and much more.
Also confirmed is the new Chant detection and commentary by Canal+ analist Carlos Martinez and analist Maldini. We cant judge this right away because it was in beta stage and still needs to be updated.
License:
In terms of licenses Konami is making major steps.
But the England League has two clubs licensed, Bundes Liga is totally fake. EA has the rights. Spanish league has 12 clubs licensed. Maybe this will be updated in the future. The most significant steps are Champions and Uefa league. But its possible to edit the missing teams.
Complete leagues in are the Dutch, Italian, French. Also some top clubs from other European and American country's are in.
Ingame music:
Same as always, rock, disco, remixes nothing special in this version. But also some rare good songs made there way in to the game.
http://www.meristation.com/EPORTAL_IMGS/GENERAL/juegos/Xbox360-Deportivo/60/IMG2-cw4a885e9e4eef5/PES2010_gc_ELcup_resize.jpg
Spanish teams:
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, etc-,
Not official licensed Spanish teams are Almería, Getafe, Gijón, Málaga, Osasuna, Tenerife, Jerez y Zaragoza
National teams:
Spain is the best team this year followed by Brazil Argentina and Italy.
Edit mode:
U can edit all the teams but this year we have not noticed major changes or inovations in this mode. Its good, and familiar.
Controls:
The controls are based on 8/16 directional movement when running. But new animations hide this more then ever but not totally. When running slow u have more then 8 directional movement. With some new directional touches and animation here and there but not 100% 360 degrees. It still feels digital.
U can play with the D-Pad or Analogue.
There is a little delay in response time. One tenth of a second.
It seems like some animation are missing in this version and AI lacks a bit. But we are dealing with a beta version here.
Its still too early to judge this game, it has progressed alot. It still needs some finishing touches.
Alot of bla bla bla in the end. About advising Konami to get rid of this engine cause its getting old.
My opinion:
Online tournaments baby!
And they proberly have an old build and are fifa fans...

I'm gonna go ahead and say even if 360 isn't in, that is not the end of the world, it says the animations are better and the static movement is less noticable, this is good, as long as it doesn't look like they are all constantly on rails then I will be impressed :) Can't rule it out yet though, that spanish one is from a slightly earlier build - still waiting for this 'megaton'

WTF?
I regret to inform I'm not able to comment on the game's new 360 degree movement control, as this is a feature that has apparently been left out of the Xbox version's design due to 'technical limitations of the hardware'. We are informed that this feature will be available on the Playstation 3, but it seems odd that Konami have left out any increase in running directions at all for Microsoft's console. It would have been nice if there were now even, say, sixty angles instead of sixteen, but there you go. Perhaps It's something the makers are looking into for the near-future.

Its a pain that al these people with codes dont look at the trick stick.
I wonder what new tricks are in. Maybe like FIFA alot of dribbling tricks?
The thing I want to know is how many leagues will there be in ML, if there is the usual 4 Konami can shove the game up their ass. How difficult can it be to add 2-4 leagues, it would make a major difference.
I'm sick and tired of ML being exactly the same each year, the same players, the same superstars (Kaiser etc.), and the same leagues. I don't care about real money, or UEFA integration, although nice additions...not nearly enough to make ML feel like something completely new. How difficult can it be for Konami to change the potential curve of new players, at least our teams would look different each year. I'm really not interested in having the same bunch of guys forming my team after 5 years in ML.

You know what, just hold fire on this yet, i want actual confirmation from konami that full 360 is in, if this is true about x box being 8 direction and ps3 being more than 8, its just so bad, it means they may have tried to rush a bunch of stuff in at the last min.
There have been so many different reports, one this morning said the game was 16 way, not full 360
Who knows.
Only Konami could screw up media attention like this, with unconfirmed reports, rumours, incorrect news and leaving the fans wondering what the fuck is actually in the game.
No 360 degree movement in the Xbox 360? Has to be bollocks, the Xbox 360 controller is made for using the analog stick, it's beyond ideal for full movement.

It has already been confirmed by PESFAN (The Boss) the manager/owner of PESFAN.com that PES 2010 will play familiar like always, that people shouldn't worry because it plays like it use to. Its been said there are more movement directions on PS3 but its not full 360. Its more 32 or 16 way movement also covered by new animations covering up its digital form.
Its heading towards/leaning towards 360.
People that believe Fifa 2010 is 100% 360 should get there facts straight..
Fifa also is calling there 360 movement 360 but it really isn't.
Buy fifa and you will see its all a marketing stunt...

What Konami knows and gonna tell you its that its not exactly 360 movement but heading towards that direction.
I can confirm now.. that nor FIFA 2010 nor PES 2010 has 360 movement.

Its all marketing. They proberly have max 32 directions and they both will market it as 360 movement. Its the oldest trick in the book.

I am disapointed, no 360 movement (so far) for Xbox 360, but for PS3. How could this be true, for one console and not the other! I am now starting to get a bad feeling about this, I think it will be like 2009, which feels unfinished because it feels like Konami are trying to rush the things in, which has been there downfall.
The game has been handled badly, first there is news then there is no news, first there is no 360 then there is 360. What is going on Konami.
They need to sort it out and fast, the game is out soon for god sake.

Holy crap.. manual control of keepers are back..
If you ask me, Konami are having problems with the XBOX controllers. Thats hardware not software.
So it must be those crappy Xbox controller that has crappy analogue and d-pad.
The Xbox 360 controllers are excellent to be fair, feeling very natural when held in the hand. It felt weird at first when coming from the PS2, but after trying a PS3 controller again, the difference is noticeable. Plus, the analog stick on the Xbox 360 is in the perfect position to be used (where the d-pad is on the PS3) so for Konami not to implement the new movement system on the Xbox is purely rumours I think. I can't see them having a completely different game engine for differing consoles, it would make very little sense, and especially when PES6 was ridiculously successful online on the Xbox 360, and Konami have stated they want to re-enact that, stripping the gameplay wouldn't be the way to go about doing that.
The reason why the previous green Xbox 360 controller for PES was released, was purely with an upgraded d-pad since the Xbox 360 d-pad is poor. Obviously many people still use the d-pad for PES (I've no idea why though to be honest). As well as releasing a new controller being a money making scheme - the same happened with Resident Evil (the red Xbox 360 controller).
We'll just have to await confirmation.

Sorry, I misread it. The 360 movement is on the Xbox 360 and PC too, but only available with the analog sticks, while I think the PS3 allows it to be available using their d-pad too.
Thank god for that. I only use the analog stick anyway so I'm relieved massively, I just stupidly misread it.
Few I misread it aswell.

Sounds like the goalkeepers have had a major updoing with the gloves and as you say manual keeper, throw faster and better, all we need now is for them not to drop the ball for easy shots right at our strikers foot.

it doesnt suprise that 360 movement is viable via the d-pad on the ps3 as you could use the d-pad for 360 movement in ISS on the n64,its not as accurate but it is possible.

Konami unveils new 360-degree control system, and more key gameplay advances determined by fan requests
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that PES 2010 will benefit from 360-degree control and further elevating the unrivalled realism of the title.
The announcement comes following Konami’s close contact with the global network of PES and football fans, who have played a key role in the development of the new game. Via forums and feedback, the PES Productions team in Tokyo has canvassed opinion on elements fans hoped to see included in PES 2010, and 360-degree control was part of the long list.
360-degree control will be available on both the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of the game via the analogue sticks on the respective controllers. The system will allow players to spread the ball with ease, opening up new attacking and defensive possibilities. PLAYSTATION 3 owners will also benefit when using the Dual Shock’s D-Pad, but Xbox 360 and Win D-Pads are limited to eight-directional control due to technical limitations of the hardware.
Konami has also confirmed a number of similarly crowd-pleasing elements as requested by the fan base, including:
Manual Goalkeepers: PES 2010 will be the only football title to offer users complete control of the keeper. Players can switch to their goalkeeper at any time, and will enjoy total control of his actions.
New Goalkeeper Moves: Players can now perform quick under-arm throws to their nearest defender to get attacks rolling more quickly.
All-New Animation: Key animation related to dribbling, running, turning, etc, has been reworked and enhanced, creating a more natural and organic feel to the way players chase down balls, change direction and move around the pitch. The result is a more fluid and natural look to the game.
Fine-tuned Close Control: The PES Productions team has worked to improve trapping of the ball and basic close control elements, giving the user more ways to spread and move the ball around effortlessly.
Manual Ball Request: The ability to demand the ball when running into space is now available to the player, and will be accessible in all game modes, such as multi-player, online, etc.;
Simpler Skills: Moves such as feints, drag backs and upper body feints can be applied more naturally when taking on or trying to beat an opponent. The PES series has long been associated with clever flicks and tricks, and PES 2010 will boast the most to date.
"The PES community has been an incredible asset in the development of PES 2010, and we can finally lift the lid on the many requests the team has been able to meet,” explained Naoya Hatsumi, Producer for PES Productions at Konami Digital Entertainment Japan. “We have strived to make the system work and coupled with the new AI and player elements in the game, it helps make PES 2010 a much richer and more realistic experience.”
“We cannot thank the PES community enough for their unerring support and constant stream of ideas,” commented Jon Murphy, PES European Team Leader. “They have offered a non-stop list of elements and options that has given the team so much to think about. As anyone can see, we are committed to making such things happen, and the addition of 360-degree control and extras such as the manual goalkeepers, being able to demand the ball, and all-new animation shows that the PES team are determined to make PES 2010 the greatest football title imaginable.”
Thanks for keeping us posted genexsis and alolo, the new keeper additions sound excellent, especially the faster and longer throws - this hopefully means that we can create counter attacks in a split second. If this is possible then it really opens up the match extremely well, a huge step for Konami.

I always play with the analog stick on my Xbox - so "360" for me!!! Also all the news with no invicible barriers and keepers able to start play as soon as they have control over the ball!!! YYYAAAAYYYY!!!
Now I'll just sit back and wait for the demo. I've heard all I needed to hear - now it's up the actual game itself to prove itself!!
But imagine the endless possibilities with the player cards and ofcourse the tactical sliders!!! Hope the demo doesn't dissapoint. Looking forward to seeing what FIFA will look like. Looks like we'll get two great games of footie this year mates!!!

That's cleared up a lot there for me. I've actually got a PS3 controller even though I only have a PC and have just noticed that after you mentioned it. As I use PS2 controllers on my PC I always thought the PS3's D-Pad was the same, lol.
Still, not a problem if 360º is on the Analogue stick as i'm just as comfortable on that as the D-Pad. Only use the D-Pad currently as it matches the 8-way movement of all previous PES games better than the Analogue Stick.

Shit, seems like it can.
it worked on the n64 with the d-pad and was just as responsive although most people will prefer to do it via analog on the left thumbstick as it will be easier on the thumbs.
What this means for pes is huge as there will be so much freedom on crosses and passing as well as shooting the depth it will give pes is massive.
Finally you will be able to swing crosses in from any angle on the wings without having to use the l1 and circles buttons.
MAN PES 2010 IS REALLY LOOKING POSITIVE. I just didn't expect this much, btu it was highly needed. Good job konami. Now a gameplay movie. :)
BTW I AM GLAD THIS 360 DEGREE GOT SETTLED WITH XBOX 360 AND pc.

Ano its abit stupid only being able to do a good cross when you are in line with the box.
Hopefully the players can sort out which foot they have to shoot with because it is annoying that when you are facing left and he hits it with his right. It doesnt happen in real life, they would have a crack with there left foot.
