View Full Version : Intro Videos a waste of valuable gameplay time.

Hi i have been playing pes for the last 8 years, i have bought but found unplayable the last two years additions which makes it 10 years to be exact, one thing that when i think about it that does my head in is those beautiful graphical and musical introduction videos, yes they are beautiful to look at but are far from reality, it is not something that a player can experiance in game, half of it is actual artificial graphics not in game, so why use it as a referance to sell the product?
Know im no video programmer, i do not know the ins and outs of the i industry but i am not an idiot and know enough that a video like this will take 1,2 maybe even 3 months of work and effort to make just so each person can see a 2 minute unrealistic video representation of this years Pes, this would by far be time spent on core issues affecting pes that were spot on before like gameplay, ai, game speeds, unlicensed teams, mix and match, gk first and second kits, third kits and editing slots etc.
correct me if i am wrong here...
I really enjoy the animations
The intro where someone does a goal like the one Bergkamp made was years ago and I still can’t get it out of my head. It was marvelous.

Intros are only thing that keeps me reminding how PES games should look like(except last 2 and newest one)
Not to mention pes 4 intro-faboulous

@yes robertinho this is my point its alluding to non reality if they show it as an intro it should be what the games like!

They are not a waste of time and it doensnt waste game time because you can press start, Duh!!

ahhh duhhh you'se your brain presuming you have one before you comment, if you read my post and only then should you comment i was talking about the time it takes to make the video not watch it, is english your first language, i hope not, because then you'd have an excuse?
you are right....is not necessary to provide 2-3 minutes video presentation. If i'm not mistaken... only once i had watched for each pes series.
I really hope that konami can put more effort on the match intro ( such as player warming up, practice shooting, and more...., more various of match intro will increase the atmosphere of the stadium.
What I hate about the intros is that they don't even show real players. In the last Pro Evolution I saw someone named Ettori. Who?

Agreed. This may be hard to believe for Konami, but I don't really want to watch an intro video for someone called Ettori.
^^ same if they choose torres and messi then shorely then would be doing something

I've watched the PES2009 intro vid a number of times recently and made me think this is how the game should play! The player graphics are just perfect! Wonder how many years before we get it like that?!
Also what the videos will look like at that point.

The graphics is indeed very good viscerally. Though I think it will be a long time before the graphics like that is applied to the gameplay.

I Like the intros on PES. Every year when I get the game, I don't press X and get to the game. I watch it and enjoy.
The game intro is not to show you about the game, it is simply introducing the game and saying 'Hello mate, this is the game you'll be playing for the next year or so, enjoy :)

Ettori is one of the ML default players, I believe, but, still, I see your point.
I actually really like the animated intros tbh. I have some of the old ones saved as favourites on Youtube and whenever I watch them it reminds me of the old PESs. Good times.
Having said that, while the animated intros of PES4 and before were works of art, some of the intros since involving, for example, someone running around juggling are indeed pointless and a waste of time.

and the award for most pointless thread goes to...
theres an option to turn off intro scenes which i use. when they put in an option to turn off all cut scenes and replays i will be happy. and also, can konami please change the button to skip replays to X rather than Start, i dont want to have to move my thumb all the way over to the start button every time another pointless cut scene or replay comes on.

it would be ok if they used real video footage as an intro, moments like beckhams free kick v greece, ray houghtons lob v italy or nayim v seaman from the half way.
the video in last years was simulating a dramatic match with a build up to a goal if i remember correctly, but there are many dramatic moments in real life footy that would get you raring to play a match if they were put into a montage with some good music.

i loved the PES 3 one and 4, it realy gets you in to the game, shows goals matches,training......pes 6 definetly the worst
