View Full Version : PES 2010 online ?
ok i have been a long time fan of PES, and i loved PES 06, but last two years i had to change to FIFA, which was ofcourse better, now i'm in a dilemma this time around although both games are good but the most annoying part of PES is that it puts conditions on your internet connection, i have played lots of online games and have never once suffered online lag and mine is a very poor connection with a speed of 512KBps and also using a wifi since it is not feasible to have my PC my TV and my PS3 cluttered at one place, so what i am asking from you is this:
Should I buy this game coz looks like they messed up the online part again, i mean how hard can it be, never had lag in any of other games that i have played online and Konami doesn't deserve to be treated differently, and before u go on to say about getting a good connection, dude i live in INDIA and it's very costly to get a good connection here, i would have to shell out around 150 - 200$ per month to get a connection with a speed of 2Mbps, and i saw people having connections of the speed of 20Mbps having problems online, so understand my problem, and to add to it i have never had any lag on any other game using my connection, it just happens with PES, i have played uncharted 2, NBA live 2010, GTA5 prologue, COD4, Killzone 2 and so many more.
any good suggestions esp. those who have owned the game and have good connections using wireless? Should i just stay with FIFA and not waste my money on this coz online is a huge part for me, mostly i play online...

Well i can only talk from what i have experienced i have played 10 or so games online and 8 of them have been perfect, the others my opponent had a horrible connection and it cause button delay, no lag though.
They seemed to have proved online mode, it is a big part for me also so im hooping it stays this way or even improves.
I would recommend the game to anyone fullstop, as i think it is absolutley brilliant this year, but thats my opinion.

If you mean my internet set up at home, i actually dont know...
i could find out at come point, all i knwo is that i am always on green when i am making and joing games online....its not a great connection though, it is a standard package deal connection with phone and tv also.

Playstation 3, i own both but because of how easy it is to use option files i play on ps3.
From what i have been hearing from everywhere there is a considerable online lag in the online version of the game if u are using a Wireless connection to conect with your console, even if the connection was 20 Mbps there was still lag, when using a wireless connection.
However, the game runs smooth online if u are using an ethernet cable, anybody else who can give an insight into this which is going to be the deciding factor of me buying this game or not, plz do mention what type of connection u are using
Just played my first match online (3-0 loss...boo) on 360 with an ethernet wired connection and I got absolutely no lag at all!

The speed of the connection and game lag in online are different things.
In most games I play (call of duty 5 for example) it depends on my connection and the host's connection. so I expect the same thing with pes.
Well shaun according to the reviews i have looked all over the internet no matter how good your connection is if u are using wireless then it is bound to be laggy, that is what i have found out at other forums including PESFan, there are guys who had 20Mbps but still lagged when he was using wireless and there was a guy who was using dial up but using ethernet cable and his game did not lag at all, so when it comes to PES2010 it's a different ball game together, that's why i am asking.
^I am using wireless and COD5 is laggy aswell for me. Wireless on ps3 = lag on most games. I do not get lag everytime, but it happens.

don't even compare COD5 lag to pes 2010 lag, i remember last year in this forums how people were complaining on pes 2009 online and its happening again this year, all the games I played so far are laggy and i also think that latency indicator is not accurate cuz i tried to play with a friend who is couple hundred meters away from me his connection showed as red while my connection was red on his side although the game had less lag than distant games. I still thinking PES 2007 was better in terms of online
Is it me or you got this same problem guys.Playing online I noticed when u press cross or shot then is delay.I play online using cable and speed is 5mb.Anybody has got this same problem?
Well that's the story of PES for the last 4 years, it's not like wifi is an upcoming technology it has been there for so many years but they still can't figure it out, it's not just me but anyone who has tried PES on wireless has been telling the same old story, laggy games which are unplayable, and this covers all type of connections, i mean if a guy who has 20Mbps connections or a 15Mbps connection says that the game is laggy wireless then there is just simply something very wrong with this game, coz even with my shity 512Kbps connection i have never ever experienced lags on any of the games i have played from resistance2 to uncharted 2, COD4, GTA5prologue and so many more, i just don't get it what is the problem with KONAMI, gameplay wise FIFA is no way near PES but the online part just SUCKS it just really SUCKS because that is the future of gaming and this games future is in perils right now if they don't sort this out, i don't know even if they did srt it out this time which is highly unlikely it might be just too late. FIFA is already 2 counts in on PES ( 2008 and 2009), this might just be the nail in the coffin coz i definitely am not buying this game if this issue doesn't get sorted out.

im on a 20meg connection (ethernet cable connected) the game for me is just unplayable online, button lag is the main thing, passes do not happen when they should, basically anything you do has a slight delay, which is a massive difference in a footie game, i will stick to the offline play, which is the main reason i bought the game, get a few mates around & play it with no issues at all, konami online is hopeless.
that's really pathetic on KONAMI's part, if a guy with a 20Mbps cannot play then who will, i mean this is just ridiculous, 4 years, seriously 4 Years and haven't got the online part right, what are they trying to do, hoping for jesus to interfere. i am just appalled at this. WOW

I absolutely agree. I'm on a 8Mb connection with wireless (PS3) and I have yet to experience a lag free online match (I've played about 15 games!) The main problem for me is the button response time - I regularly have a delay of about 2 secs from when I press a button to the action on screen. This is incredibly frustrating and online is unplayable for me. I know that I have no problem with my connection as every other game I play is fine. I've recently been playing the MAG Beta, connecting with 127 other players in a match and no lag whatsoever! I think it's an absolute disgrace that Konami have not addressed this issue for 3 years now. Luckily for me I love the offline game. If I didn't, I wouldn't hesitate to sell my copy of PES2010..

It's such a shame this year as well. I was especially looking forward to playing online Champions League! If you want to play an online footie game, I would have to recommend the FIFA abomination, I'm afraid.. At least it works!

That's very strange.. Weird that some people are not having issues whilst others are. Hopefully this could mean that a patch could fix the problems (Fingers crossed!)
Have to agree, I am quite baffled sometimes when I hear alot of people struggle with the online play and mine always seems to be fine. Not only on this new PES but last year on Pes 2009, I had over 70 odd matches where I could play with not worrying about lag. I guess i'm only the lucky few.
Would it not be fair to say the servers are going to overloaded with peple whos have just bought the game and are playing online, as time goes by less people will play it online and there should be an improvment... give it a week or 2

I hope you're right. At least there's plenty to be getting on with in the offline modes..:)
Suffering from online lag/button delay you name it, i'm experiencing it.
Went for quick match about 40 times today and got to play about 4 games and got splattered. I can't even get past 30 seconds from kick off. But when i do get to get a quick match my PS3 starts making a clunking noise.
I have a PS3 slim with no other games other than PES2010. My Wireless broadband is about 3mb.
Anyone any suggestions for a smoother game????? Or is the online game just shite again.

well I also heard that this year around KONAMI has asked sony and microsoft to take care of the online part of the game on their servers is this true or are these just rumours?
Online play has been laggy for PES games since PES6, mainly because Konami insist on only having 2 or 3 servers, all based in japan

i have 20mb wireless conection and allso get this button delay on 1v1 games on bal mode had about 10 good games. for me it is the worst pro evo online so far even worst than last years thats why i bought it this year cos' i never thought konami would make it as bad 2009..not F***ing happy

i faithfully bought 2010 on the understanding they had fixed the lag problem...
i just played a guy from brazil( im in scotland btw) and my button delay was about 2 seconds not kidding!!! what feckin chance have u got??!!!
i dont have an effing clue about speed bt im connected to my modem via a cable not wireless and am always green. also any other games ive played... cod.... killzone2... gta4.... have not experienced any problems with lag.... o sorry forgot to mention.. fifa10... come on konami u have the best footy game ever in your hands here!!!! sort out the online mode!!! surely its not hard.... everyone else can sort it.... while ur at maybe add a 10v10 option... in fifa that is much fun!!!

I cannot and have never got to enter a competition why is this i have tried to enter at all times of the day regularly.
Also was ther not supposed to be an online champions league competition.
Would really like to enter a competition online within the game ?????????????
^For example if it says the competition is at 12:00, join exactly at 12:00 then it'll let you join. Don't ask me why but that's how I managed to enter competitons.
About the CL, Konami will do CL competitions starting soon I believe...

Online is working great for me. Considering I'm in new York playing people as far away as Togo , Turkey and Poland I get no lag. my only complaint the lack of variety in matches its either Madrid or Barcelona.

Ive played about 25 games on line on my xbox 360 and 75% of the games played have been lagging even though I have a green light and I have done a Konami speed checker and my connection is fine (wired direct to modem). I had 3 games back to back before with a 2 - 3 second delay. Even my girlfriend notices the lag/stutter when she's watching me play online and she's not an expert on footie games!
it is a Konami issue but I do know that people like myself with Virgin Media broadband may/will have worse lag issues at certain times of the day as Virgin do a broadband traffic management at peak times. basically throttling your network from say 10mb to as low as 2-4 mb at certain times of the evening!try speedtest and see
I have a 24 Mbit DL and 3 Mbit UL WIRED connection and still get many (if not most) matches with horrible button lag - it's driving me insane!!!
I have a "AAA" on Konami's speed check and can play games like Gears of War 2 on 360 or Uncharted 2 on PS3 with my mates without any problems in multiplayer but when I want to have a game of PES with the same people it lags like crazy. Unless Konami finds a way to fix these issues, I won't play that much online because it p*sses me off too much... what a letdown... AGAIN!!!

Sorry to be a bit pedantic but if the problems with lag in this game were down to Virgin - wouldnt that affect all games you play online? I am with virgin - played several other games online with no worries, actually played battlefield 1943 last night 24 people causing havoc online, then came onto PES and yep its lagtime.

I played one game and may just stick to offline, as for me it was exactly the same as on PES2009. About half of my passes just bounced off my other players, the shooting was terrible and the defence was just dodgy allowing the person I was playing against to score two odd goals.
Online is a bundle of bollocks. Simple.

I am shocked ! Just played about 4 games on-line as I got my PS3 today. The online mode is the best I have experienced. Sure there was the odd stinker of a game but I just had to modify my play. But none of the players teleporting to either end of the pitch.
Just a pity you get folk picking Real Madrid/Brazil all the time. I like playing with different teams as well. But you truly are stuffed if you pick a weaker team against them if there is a slight delay in the game. Due to speed of connections.
EDIT I change my mind. Online is shocking in the evening. Laggy as fuck.

it so good to see people having the same probs as me. its really annoyin that your 1 nil up and the lag kicks in.. i ended up getting beat 4-1 as the players wer playing them self as i was in kitcken. torres missed a sitter by the way.. lol.
but yeh its getting boring that i cant play online without this happen.
and does anyone also get the same teams you got to play against, barca or madrid?
i always changed my team but its getting to the point that peeps just give the ball to messi or ronaldo them walk the ball in. doesnt matter what team you are. maybe its me having soul grates but its no fun when peeps play the same team.
thinking to sticking to the comp as atleast am playing different teams!! :(
