There are 2 kinds of quiters:

Disconnecters and Abandoners.

Disconnecters exit the game... abandoners just leave the game running....

My record is having one guy abandon on me in the 20th minute of the 1st half while I was up 2-0.... Had to go through the rest of the game.... all alone.

Seriously Konami needs to address this issue. I wont give any names but anytime I play people from country X there is a good chance the ass will quit the game. Just today I was kicking ass with juventus I mean I was just on a tear up 1-0 but 70/30 possession the guy didn't even have a shot on goal. 89min I score a 2nd the dagger and what does the jerk do? Continuously gives himself an own goal with the keepr and the game disconnects due to "band conduct" WTF someone screws the game over and we are both penalized equally!?!? The online neds some seriously King Solomon like justice to dissuade these assholes. I mean its bad enough everyone and their mom is Barca/Madrid so If I'm beating you with Boca Juniors and your Barca trust that I'm playing my ass off to be on top if you cant win with one of the best teams in the game and you quit then do me a favor and wlk into traffic. I cant tell you how many times today I had ppl quit on me. I just recently encountered on of the abandoners (from country X no less).

My advice to Konami is this 2 games I play a lot online Street Fighter and Uncharted 2. People on SF used to quit all the time well Capcom added a disconnect stat to users profile sort of a badge of shame obviously if you have a high percent I wont play with you.

In Uncharted you lose points if you disconnect plain and simple even if the power in your place goes out points are still taken away. Similar tactics should be implemented in this game becasue I'm at the point where I try not to win by that match so as not to dissuade a potential d-bag from quitting and that isnt any fun. Put it this way my first match I was Boca and went against Barca lost 7-0 but I didn't quit even when I got my ass handed to me. I simply demanded a rematch and cleaned house in the next game /end rant

Im not a quitter by nature but if there is 1 game that drives you mad - its this, I quit for the 1st time in 60 games last night. One of the main issues with PES and always has been is at times you just dont seem to be in control of whats going on, this gets everyones back up. My 1st quit (which im not proud of) was against one of the Barca mafia last night, dominated game for 90 minutes, Messi does 1 of his runs - you know the rest. Infuriating at times. dont take it personally, you get the 3 nil win normally, saves everyone time.

Sorry,

but you have to understand that if the other person is suffering from button lag the experience is awful and pointless.

The problem isn't helped by arrogant gobshite gloaters who think they are experts when they are playing with Real Madrid/Barca and have no button lag against you and you can't even string one pass together due to button lag. Against these players i have no hesistation in doing this.

Last night it happened, the guy i was playing was a chavvy gobshite at half time (playing with real madrid obviously) who was 1-0 after a Ronaldo walk to goal from his own half!, when i was clearly suffering button lag and unable to leave my half - so i thought stuff you and made him play the 45 mins on his own - it was quite funny to watch actually, as he couldn't score without my players running around like headless chickens. It was very statisfying to comment on at the end.

I would never disconnect or abandon under any other circumstances, but I think in these situations it is acceptable - as 1 player is already having an awful experience and you still get the win.

This is Konami's fault not the players who do it for this reason. Be happy that you get to play online without button lag, as for some us this is only a dream.

Sorry,

The problem isn't helped by arrogant gobshite gloaters .

So true, if your playing someone and all their passes go astray and they keep running into touch - THEY ARE SUFFERING WITH BUTTON LAG! it doesnt mean you are a good player or I am "crap". So many dickh*ads play this game online and think they are brilliant but clearly only 'up there' cos their connections crap. I played one guy the other night who had a rating of 550 + and couldnt even string passes together.

Yesterday I encountered something even more annoying:
Played against someone who was obviously Madrid. Match started, everything is cool,no lag whatsoever, and then by the 5th minute it started to lag REALLY bad, something like a 5 seconds lag,and Im not exaggerating at all! It was just impossible to play, but the thing is - he had no lag AT ALL! he just took a player and started dribbling his way to the goal! It became 2-0 on the 20th minute,so I just quit the game.
I'm pretty sure it was some kind of hack/cheat,I never had this kind of lag even when I was playing someone with a really bad connection, the worst lag I've had was like 2 seconds, and this time it was close to 5 seconds! And the thing is the game started well with no lag AT ALL.

Gotta agree with the quiters here.

Played a game the other week and this guys players were chasing my players down like greyhounds. I simply never got out of my half. He scored and made me watch the replays all the way through sending me messages. He knew i had button lag, but still, he tried to persuade me how good he was. He has something like 600pts+. I don't mind being beaten fair and square, but while i try to fight the button lag- where is the fair?.............. Thing is, when i beat someone, was it because they had button lag???? Online is dog shit and until its improved i'll pull the plug. Simple. So L-nang bitch at konami and not people who you think can't take a beating. I bought the game to do battle online on an equal footing!!!!!!!

okay i too suffer from button lag too, i mean if you know you're lagging then why don't you just quit at the beginning of the game and don't wait til the end when the game is about to be over and your losing, cuz i know for a fact that if your winning and still suffering from button your ass won't quit the game. you are going to wait on how the game goes if your losing real bad you gonna quit and if your winning you will stay am i right on this?

If you have button lag and you can't take being beaten due to it, then dont play. your wasting your time and your opponents time. If i score a goal i am entitled to watch the replay as many times as i want and so are you. You make a commitment to finish a game as soon as you start it, if you are not prepared to meet that commitment for any reason, then dont commit in the fist place.

My opinion ^

Yeah but......if you know you have button lag at the kick off then fine. You go with it and see if it will improve. But how do you know that the other guy doesn't have button lag?? He might - therefore its an equal footing you keep going. But when the other guy is giving you a thumping, then you know you have button lag and he does not. Then you quit. It's difficult man, especially when you are genuinely interested in competing with other gamers on tactics and skill.

There are two types of quitters - the first is the one who quits because of a button lag (and yeah,I do that myself when I have a huge lag and the other side obviously hasn't! Lets see if you keep playing till the end of the match when you have a 5 seconds button lag and your opponent is just dribblling between your players with ease, and then forcing you to watch the whole goal celebration+goal replay while he sends you "YES! GOAL! YES! WOW!" while he KNOWS you have lag because your player just runs around the pitch like headless chicken!)

And the other type - the quitters that quit because they lose. This is the most annoying type, whenever I play someone and goes up 3-0,they just quit because they know they will be given a loss of 3-0 anyways so they just won't keep on playing. And if you think "well, maybe they suffer from button lag",so no,when I go 2-0 or 3-0 I almost always let the opponent hold the ball abit and see how he plays and if theres a button lag,and Im yet to encounter someone who did have lag against me.

Why should I sit through a game i have no way of winning, for the other player to sit watching goals they would never have scored without button lag. And why shouldn't I play online - did I not pay for the same game as you??

You obviously have had no problem with button lag as you wouldn't be making such a stupid comment. I really hope it happens to you to give you some perspective.

By the way, I HATE people who need to watch every goal they score and all the replays, regardless of LAG. If its a special goal - then fine, but there is a limit - USE THE EFFING START BUTTON. Its almost as annoying as the constant Real Madrid/Barca players.

When that guy disconnected in the 89th minute.. did you check to see that you hadnt been awarded the game 3-0 ? (thats whats supposed to happen)

oh..by the way... a flat ball means the person has had a lot of disconnects.

Virtually every goal ive conceded online with 2010 have been those infuriating and ridiculous 'just cant get the ball out of the penalty area no matter what I do" situations.

You win the ball try and pass...nothing happens or it just gets handed straight back to opponent.

I've noticed, the worst people for this are the Barca and Madrid users. That's probably because they're kids. Anyway, If anybody makes me watch a crap goal, I do the same back. Somebody did this earlier to me today. They made me watch a crap Barcelona goal, so when I went 2-3 up with Chelsea, I made them watch all the celebration and the replays. I went 2-4 up and did the same thing, and put a little smiley face.

i agree..its like the most annoying thing, i mean...sure nice goal, but you can watch it after the game ends...and some of the cocky bastards will even go "thank you" or "i'm sorry"when they force you to watch their crap goal, happened to me yesterday when some douche scored like 10 secs into the game and thought he was so good, i end up beating him 6:1 and forcing him to watch every single second of the replays

I hate people that cant write properly, use text abbreviations within a forum and don't know the difference between you're and your. If you are one of these people then stay out of forums. You are making the forum visiting experience for other people, and me, unenjoyable. Especially when Im not new or a knob when it comes to forums.

By teh way what team do you use online ? Barcelona ? Real Madrid ? or maybe Manchester United or Chelsea ?

If I have button lag I just quit as soon as I really notice it. I dont care if my opponent has it or not, its not fun playing with it. And since I often play with lower teams and somehow try to play like barca irl (lol) its really important to not have that bad button lag. Lower teams players also react like 3 times slower than the rest makes it impossible for me to do what I want them to do if I also have button lag.

Very funny thread. Almost every user has a good points, exept those ironical people who say "i'm so good and those loosers quit on me". The biggest problem is a button lag and in some really bad cases it makes absolutely impossible to enjoy and carry on. I absolutely agree with Huw: there so many people who genuinly believe that Chelsea and MU are small teams)))

Lets face it... we always gonna find laggers and barza-madrid boys playing the game using awfull tactics and calling him selfs PES GODS...i dont like it like most of the people in this thread...but i never quit a game, just because i don want other quitting on my game... simply as that...

By the way, lately i am using Atlético Madrid online and yeah, sometimes lose badly against barzas-madrids laggers...but when i win, at least i know and the opponent know that I WIN THE GAME, no THE AI forcing pressure all the time or with cheap goals ala Ibrah-Messi or CR9-Benzema....

Atlético has great and deadly players forward...you know..Aguero its a beast, Pongolle its good and Forlan a good finisher..., Maxi rodriguez its fast enought to stop Messi or CR9 (without lag) in the bands...Simao its a good crosser and they have 2 great deffenders...specially Perea..really fast to catch Benzimas or Ibrahs...

THE ONLY PROBLEM is the GK Sergio Asenjo...he take a lot of silly goals...if they have a better GK..it could be my best team to play online against lamers...

I think part of the problem is replays are too long! they are like 15 seconds long (i have not timed them). I like looking at the replay sometimes but never really do online because it is too much. I don't want to put the other guy through it. an when i have to sit through somebody's replay i really hate it. And do feel like the other person is rubbing it in!

But i do think there is an issue with length of replay for online play since you can't fast fwd!

Haha when they watch there goals and say great work, sometimes I'm like do you really consider this average goal good or are you just trying to get on my nerves? If people are cunts to me i will be cunts to them.
