View Full Version : best and worst movie.... ever!

for me its either snatch or fight club.
i'd probably go for snatch if i had to, but fight club is one of those films you can watch over and over without getting bored.
Worst film is probably the sum of all fears, it is quite appaling. morgan freeman should never have agreed to it.
I'd second Snatch and Fight Club as some good choices there, although I wouldn't really say snatch is that much of a great film but it's very entertaining. I cant be bothered to pick a single film so here's some of the best:
Fight Club
Snatch
The Killer
Pulp Fiction
Donnie Darko
The Usual Suspects
American Beauty
As for the worst, I thought Matrix: Reloaded was probably the most disappointing film I've seen..
Gooner 4 Life
02-06-2003, 21:14
My fave films are Mike Bassett and Road Trip

I really didn't like eXistenZ or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
I do like 28 Days Later, The Big Lebowski, Payback.
Can't think of any more at the moment.
I'll be back!
i really liked scary movie , but i didnt think scary movie 2 was any good :(
I do like 28 Days Later, The Big Lebowski, Payback.
28 Days Later and The Big Lebowski are so shit i have both on dvd and what a dissapointment and waste of money but my brother think they are great.
These are great films:
snatch
Shanghai noons (don't laugh)
The One
Dog Eat Dog
Can't think of any more at the moment. I'll be back!
Is this saying that you like Terminator or what?
I also forgot to say fight club is bollocks.
Zygalski
03-06-2003, 19:11
If those movies are so bad, why do you have them on DVD??
Anyway, I said I like them. I was saying they were the bestest ever.
Your choice of movies isn't exactly amazing but I don't think someone is going to come on here and tell you they are crap because that isn't the point of all this.

Chuck Morris

There isn't really a best film ever for me i like gangster flicks and comedies, films with Richard Pryor in are always good, like See No Evil Hear No Evil and Harlem Knights. Training Day is another really good film. American History X, there is afr too many to say which is the best.
The worst film ever would have to be Cube 2: Hypercube. I rented this out about a month ago on DVD and it was the biggest load of bollocks i've ever seen in my life. The first one was shite but alot better than this one.
rebusrahman
27-06-2003, 23:45
I thought Cube was okay actually. Considering the budget it was on it wasn't bad. And if you didn't like the first one why, oh why, did you rent the 2nd one? (By the way, have you seen "Almost an Angel" with Paul Hogan? Now that is bad!)
Chuck Morris
27-06-2003, 23:49
I thought the traps and death scenes where pretty cool in the first Cube and thats why i rented out the 2nd one because i thought there would be more traps and death scenes but i was hugely disappointed as they a where all shite.
rebusrahman
27-06-2003, 23:53
Fairy muff. Is (Deep voiceover man) CUBE 2: HYPERCUBE really that bad? Have you seen F/X : Murder by Illusion 2 (The Guff Years)?
Chuck Morris
28-06-2003, 20:16
Alot worse, the acting makes you cinge. There is this stupid old woman in it that keeps asking wehre her dog is and if she can go the shops when all kinds of weird traps are trying to kill her. Cube 2=Shite!
rebusrahman
29-06-2003, 21:33

There's a Mexican film doin' the rounds on Sky at the moment called "Amores Perros". I watched it the other night and was gripped. It's pretty damn spectacular. It doesn't boast any fancy SFX or fight scenes or whatever, just a bloody good, well-made film. Look out for it.

They're actually making a sequel to this film! I've seen a pick of a load of teenage chinkies kitted out in orange cargo outfit gear. Prepare for more grenades being thrown in severed heads...
Anyways my fave films:
Fight Club

Matrix
Matrix: Reloaded

Mission: Impossible
Pulp Fiction

As you can guess my fave actors are Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt

How can one of your fave actors be Morgan Freeman and yet you refer to the japanese actors in BR2 as "chinkies"?
Blue, FMJ is a darn fine film and was mostly filmed in London (if you didn't know?). Love you long time!

For me the connotation behind the word is derrogatory. I am not implying or inferring that you are racist but I hardly think that the word "chinkie" is a positive one?
And the person playing God IS Morgan Freeman!

Chinkies?? I just call them 'Tiddley Winks'!

I understand what you are saying. IMO, 'Chinkies' is only negaitve when put into certain contexts e.g. "f*****g chinkies". To me, it is just a common slang word for people of that origin.
Bottom line is it was just another word in my sentence to me but you read further into it. It was not positive or negative. In writing it is easy to misinterprit someone's tone or intentions. Perhaps in future I shall be more careful about what I say.
Sometimes I feel that racial issues are sensitive subjects because people are sensitive towards them if you get what I mean.

Mambo Jambo, love, u r right. But I am a very laid back person but I feel very strongly about this. The very fact that you did not load the term at all is in some ways worse than loading it.
The bottom line for me is that if you know Chinese people who would be happy if you used the word "chinkie" in their company then use it. Likewise I would not expect anyone to use the word "paki" unless they wanted me to tear them a new a***hole. ;-)
I have a friend who used to use "chinkie" in the same way u do. But I explained it the same way... would he say paki shop if my parents owned a corner store? No, he conceded so therefore it was derrogatory to say "chinkie" even if there was no intent behind it.

I wholey agree with what you said. I think the term "Chinkie" is more stereotypical than offensive though (Paki is more offensive). I guess I'm a bit hypocritical seeing as I don't stand for "Paki" but use Chinkie myself.
*puts "Chinkie" in brain's recycle bin never to be used again*

Thanks for seeing it my way. Now if I can turn everyone into a rebusrahman!!!
Seriously though, I think that paki has just been used more as a vindictive term than chinkie. The latter is seen as more a term of reference and the former as a term of abuse. Like u say it fella. Also it comes down to the fact that ostensibly Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi Asians have had more racial problems than Oriental Asians in Britain. Perhaps due to the greater influx of the first?
So I'm glad all u honkys see it right now!
Isn't it weird how topics, well, 'stray'? This one started about the best and worst movies and ended up about racial issues.
back to the subject at hand.
best movies - Pulp Fiction, The Green Mile
worst Movies - Blair witch 2, Dumber and Dumberer, Deep Impact
my fav films are T2 and American pie double.

jag - The Great Escape is a classic war film from 1963. It stars Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence and James Coburn to name but a few.
I know you won't like this but I can't stand Laurel and Hardy! But I love Harold Lloyd.
wixon - sorry I don't rate The Birds. It's not Hitch's best by any means. North by Northwest or Vertigo or Notorious.
Sorry for being a pain in the butt!

I'm sorry but my friends and I just couldn't watch 'Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas' even though we tried for 30 mins.
It's really weird and not enjoyable, to me.
Anyone else have any opinions?
rebusrahman
29-07-2003, 14:23
It is a pretty unfilmable film. Like "The Naked Lunch". But they made a good job of it... but I guess you really have to "do" something to enjoy it and/or be a big Hunter S. Thompson fan.
I thought F & L in Las Vegas was a pretty good film but it goes off the rails after about an hour but i've read the book and it's dead funny. i went to see Hulk last night thoght it was class but it's had mixed reviews

The real life incident is of course incredible. Bunch of S. Americans right? Chileans or Argies I believe. The film is apparently good to great but I would like to see it. I did see a programme on it a few yrs ago and it was well interessant.
Fight Club is suberb. Seen it six times and enjoyed it just as much each time.
Picking a worst film is hard. A film called Hackers was on channel 4 a few weeks a go and that was quite poor.

Not yet, hoping we'll get Sean Davis soon though, and maybe even Savage? I think a film about Celtic and Rangers would be a much better horror than an Everton - Liverpool one!
rebusrahman

I hate Robbie Savage. There's a man who lives up to his name. I think that Davis would be an excellent addition tho.
We had another bid rejected today from Fulham for Davis i think it was around £5m, but hopefully Fulham will get C Reyna. I watched Phone Booth last night quite good a bit short but i watched the extras and it only took 10 days to shoot the film
Chuck Morris

Fulham are cheeky tw@ts! How much do they really think he's worth?!?! Our first offer was good enough!

What the hell no one has said the godfather part II
The Godfather trilogy is one of the best films series i have ever seen and they deserve a mention definately. Godfather part 2 was the ultimate sequel.
Jag87 I knew you where a a wise man when i seen who you support. what do you think is the best bit in any of the three films. for me it would have to be the shoting of Don Corleone or The "I Know it was you" bit in part II the only film I have that even nearly cums close is Goodfellas what ever role De niero play he pulls it off a very rare talent.

I forgot to mention Cradle of Fear, a horror starring Dani Filth from the band Cradle of Filth, Theymust have spent about a tenner on the budget. It's one of the worst films i have seen & it features the worst car scene in history.
But on the plus side parts of the film were so bad they were funny, like the car chase & the tough detective calling the police stations new computer system "a load of old wank"!
